Book 20th International Conference on Spectral Line Shapes

Download or read book 20th International Conference on Spectral Line Shapes written by John Lewis and published by American Institute of Physics. This book was released on 2010-12-16 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This biennial conference is focused on the formation of spectral line profiles and with their use for diagnostic purposes. The line profiles are employed as powerful diagnostic tools for various media, such as neutral gases, technological gas discharges, magnetically confined plasmas for fusion, laser- and z-pinch-produced plasmas, astrophysical plasmas, planetary atmospheres.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This conference is an international forum to discuss fundamental and applied research associated with the formation of spectral line profiles. It includes research involving line profiles observed in absorption, emission, and scattering by laboratory and astrophysical sources. The conference brings together specialists from many diverse fields to discuss common aspects of line shape theory and experiments. Areas covered in the conference included: laser-produced plasmas, magnetically confined plasmas, stellar atmospheres, molecular and atomic systems, high-resolution spectroscopic applications and measurements, collision-induced effects, and ultracold regimes. Papers on experiments, theory, and applications are included in this volume.

Download or read book Spectral Line Shapes written by Marco Antonio Gigosos and published by American Institute of Physics. This book was released on 2008-11-04 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This biennial conference is the main international forum for both fundamental and applied works dealing with processes related to the formation of the spectral line profiles and with their use for diagnostic purposes. On the fundamental side, the study of the line profiles reveals the underlying atomic and molecular interactions. On the practical side, the line profiles are employed as powerful diagnostic tools for various media, such as neutral gases, technological gas discharges, magnetically-confined plasmas for fusion, laser- and Z-pinch-produced plasmas, astrophysical plasmas, and planetary atmospheres.

Book Spectral Line Shapes in Astrophysics and Related Topics

Download or read book Spectral Line Shapes in Astrophysics and Related Topics written by Milan S. Dimitrijević and published by MDPI. This book was released on 2020-02-18 with total page 268 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Spectral lines, widths, and shapes are powerful tools for emitting/absorbing gas diagnostics in different astrophysical objects (from the solar system to the most distant objects in the universe—quasars). On the other hand, experimental and theoretical investigations of laboratory plasma have been applied in spectroscopic astrophysical research, especially in research on atomic data needed for line shape calculations. Data on spectral lines and their profiles are also important for diagnostics, analysis, and the modelling of fusion plasma, laser-produced plasma, laser design and development, and various plasmas in industry and technology, like light sources based on plasmas or the welding and piercing of metals by laser-produced plasma. The papers from this book can be divided into four groups: 1. stark broadening data for astrophysical and laboratory plasma investigations; 2. applications of spectral lines for astrophysical and laboratory plasma research; 3. spectral line phenomena in extragalactic objects, and 4. laboratory astrophysics results for spectra investigation. The reviews and research papers, representing new research on the topics presented in this book, are of interest for specialists and PhD students. We hope that the present book will be useful and interesting for scientists interested in the investigation of spectral line shapes and will contribute to the education of young researchers and PhD students.

Book Spectral Line Shapes in Astrophysics

Download or read book Spectral Line Shapes in Astrophysics written by Luka C. Popovic and published by American Inst. of Physics. This book was released on 2007-10-03 with total page 332 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The VI Serbian Conference on Spectral Line Shapes in Astrophysics was about the investigation of spectral line shapes in extragalactic objects, such as, active galactic nuclei, stellar atmospheres, and astrophysical spectra in general. Atomic spectral line shapes in various discharges and plasma devices was also discussed. The main purpose of the Conference was to present and discuss new results found by participants working in this research field, and to review significant topics.
