"Mysticism" can refer to either direct experience of God or the claim that such experience is ineffable, and both senses of the term are carefully analyzed in the book.

What constitutes a life that is not only good but superlative, or even “marvellous” or “holy”? Is there a common vision that impels them to seek holiness? In this way her work challenges the boundaries between what we as readers may accept as a solely Castilian, Galician, or Spanish poetic.
