Book excerpt: This book presents the refereed proceedings of the Fifth International Conference on Extending Database Technology, EDBT'96, held in Avignon, France in March 1996. The 31 full revised papers included were selected from a total of 178 submissions; also included are some industrial-track papers, contributed by partners of several ESPRIT projects. The volume is organized in topical sections on data mining, active databases, design tools, advanced DBMS, optimization, warehousing, system issues, temporal databases, the web and hypermedia, performance, workflow management, database design, and parallel databases.
Download or read book Software Process Principles Methodology and Technology written by Jean-Claude Derniame and published by Springer. This book was released on 2006-08-18 with total page 311 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: 1 Jean Claude Derniame Software process technology is an emerging and strategic area that has already reached a reasonable degree of maturity, delivering products and significant industrial expe riences. This technology aims at supporting the software production process by pro viding the means to model, analyse, improve, measure, and whenever it is reasonable and convenient, to automate software production activities. In recent years, this tech nology has proved to be effective in the support of many business activities not directly related to software production, but relying heavily on the concept of process (i. e. all the applications traditionally associated with workflow management). This book concentrates on the core technology of software processes, its principles and concepts as well as the technical aspect of software process support. The contributions to this book are the collective work of the Promoter 2 European Working Group. This grouping of 13 academic and 3 industrial partners is the suc cessor of Promoter, a working group responsible for creating a European software process community. Promoter 2 aims at exploiting this emerging community to collec tively develop remaining open issues, to coordinate activities and to assist in the dis semination of results. The title “Software Process Modelling and Technology” [Fink94] was produced during Promoter 1. Being “project based”, it presented the main findings and proposals of the different projects then being undertaken by the partners.

Download or read book Distributed Software Engineering written by C. W. Loftus and published by Prentice Hall PTR. This book was released on 1995 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Distributed Software Engineering provides practical suggestions, guidelines and rules for meeting the increasingly important requirement of developing software by the collaboration of independent organisations, partly independent organisations and teleworkers. A key theme is the controlled sharing of project information, which may be geographically distributed across diverse networks and computing environments. Distributed Software Engineering explores distributed, collaborative software engineering using experiments and case studies.
Download or read book Computer Aided Systems Theory EUROCAST 93 written by Franz Pichler and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 1994-01-28 with total page 484 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume contains a selection of papers presented at the third European Computer Aided Systems Theory workshop, EUROCAST '93, held in Spain in February 1993. The workshop emphasizes interdisciplinarity with the specificgoal of creating a synergy between fields such as systems theory, computer science, systems engineering and related areas. The contributions in this volume are strongly related to current problems in CAST research. They emphasize an engineering point of view concerning systems theory. Since the computer is an essential instrument in CAST research, there are close relations to specific topics incomputer science. The papers are grouped into parts on systems theory and systems technology, specific methods, and applications.
Download or read book Software Process Technology written by Brian C. Warboys and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 1994-01-26 with total page 292 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The software process is the total set of software engineering activities necessary to develop and maintain software products. Software process technology (SPT) deals with methods, formalisms, and tools for supporting the software process. SPT has developed into a key technology in terms of its importance to software engineering environments, systems integration, cooperative working, and business process re-engineering. This volume contains the proceedings of the third European Workshop on Software Process Technology. It is organized into six parts: architecture, meta-process and methodology, process modeling concepts, PML concepts and paradigms, experiences with SPT, and related domains.
Download or read book Software Engineering ESEC 93 written by Ian Sommerville and published by Springer. This book was released on 1993-08-30 with total page 536 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume contains the proceedings of the fourth European Software Engineering Conference. It contains 6 invited papers and 27 contributed papers selected from more than 135 submissions. The volume has a mixtureof themes. Some, such as software engineering and computer supported collaborative work, are forward-looking and anticipate future developments; others, such as systems engineering, are more concerned with reports of practical industrial applications. Some topics, such as software reuse, reflect the fact that some of the concerns first raised in 1969 when software engineering was born remain unsolved problems. The contributed papers are organized under the following headings: requirements specification, environments, systems engineering, distributed software engineering, real-time systems, software engineering and computer supported collaborative work, software reuse, software process, and formal aspects of software engineering.
