Download or read book Production and Processing of Fine Particles written by A. J. Plumpton and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2017-05-04 with total page 929 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume contains the proceedings of an international symposium organised by the Metallurgical Society of the Canadian Institute of Mining and Metallurgy. The aims of the symposium were to discuss fundamental and practical aspects of the technology for the production of fine inorganic particles for the metals, industrial minerals and advanced ceramics sectors, to highlight particle characterization methods and developments, and to review major advances in the processing and extractive metallurgy of finely-sized minerals. 96 conference papers by authors from 19 countries addressed such topics as particle morphology and size analysis, physical and chemical methods for producing fine particles, processing of minerals using gravity, magnetic and electrostatic separation, flotation and flocculation, phase separation involving fine particles, and the hydrometallurgy and pyroprocessing of fine particles. This book will be of interest to mineral processing scientists and engineers, ceramicists, extractive metallurgists and chemical engineers, who are faced with the increasing significance of inorganic fine particles either as valuable products or as materials to be treated in mineral processing systems.

Download or read book Advances in the Characterization of Industrial Minerals written by G.E. Christidis and published by The Mineralogical Society of Great Britain and Ireland. This book was released on 2011-08-31 with total page 508 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The advancement of human civilization has been intimately associated with the exploitation of raw materials. In fact the distinction of the main historical eras is based on the type of raw materials used. Hence, passage from the Paleolithic and Neolithic Age to the Bronze Age is characterized by the introduction of basic metals mainly copper, zinc and tin in human activities; the Iron Age is marked by the use of iron as the predominant metal. The use of metals has increased and culminated with the industrial revolution in the mid-eighteenth century, which marked the onset of the industrial age in the western world. Since then the importance of metals has gradually been surpassed by industrial minerals in the industrialized countries. Industrial minerals are raw materials used by industry for their physical and/or chemical properties. Characterization of industrial minerals is important for their assessment and can be demanding and often complicated. This new volume, co-published by the European Mineralogical Union and the Mineralogical Society of Great Britain & Ireland, is based on papers presented at an EMU-Erasmus IP School which was held in the Technical University of Crete, Chania, Greece. The aim of the School was to describe advances in some of the analytical methods used to characterize industrial minerals and to propose additional methods which are currently not used for this purpose.

Download or read book Pulp and Paper Industry written by Pratima Bajpai and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2015-04-09 with total page 343 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Pulp and Paper Industry: Chemicals features in-depth and thorough coverage of Chemical additives in the Pulp and Paper Industry. It discusses use of Enzymes "Green Chemicals" that can improve operations in pulp and paper, describes Chemicals demanded by the end user and many key and niche players such as Akzo Nobel NV, Eka Chemicals AB, Ashland, Inc., BASF, Buckman Laboratories International, Inc., Clariant, Cytec Industries, Inc., Enzymatic Deinking Technologies, LLC, ERCO Worldwide, FMC Corporation, Georgia-Pacific Corporation, Georgia-Pacific Chemicals LLC, Imerys SA, Momentive Specialty Chemicals, Inc., Novozymes, Kemira Chemicals, Nalco Holding Company, Omya AG, Solvay AG, and Solvay Chemicals, Inc.. Paper and pulp processing and additive chemicals are an integral part of the total papermaking process from pulp slurry, through sheet formation, to effluent disposal. Environmental concerns, increased use of recycled waste paper as a replacement for virgin pulp, changes in bleaching and pulping processes, increased efficiency requirements for the papermaking process, limits on effluent discharge as well as international competitiveness have greatly impacted the paper and pulp chemical additive market. This book features in-depth and thorough coverage of Chemical additives in Pulp and Paper Industry. Detailed and up-to-date coverage of Chemicals in Pulp and Paper Industry Authoritative, thorough, and comprehensive content on a wide variety of Enzymes "Green Chemicals" Comprehensive list of Paper and Pulp Related Chemicals Comprehensive list of all Pulp and paper Suppliers Comprehensive Indexing
