Book excerpt: The 767 papers of this 3-volume proceedings were first presented at the Fourth China International Conference on High-Performance Ceramics, held in October 2005 in Chengdu, sponsored by the Chinese Ceramic Society and organized by Tsignhua University (where both the editors teach and carry out their research). The papers are not organized by topic, however, both keyword and author indexes are provided (in Vol. 3). Each paper includes a list of keywords, an abstract, and a list of references and most are illustrated with b & w photos, tables, and schematics. Scientists from 24 countries are the contributors, though the majority are based in China. The conference proceedings also incorporates the Second International Workshop on Layered and Graded Materials and the First Satellite Symposium on Thermoelectrics.

Book excerpt: Sponsored by the Chinese Ceramic Society, the China International Conference on High-Performance Ceramics (CICC) aims to provide an international forum for the presentation, discussion and review of the latest advances in the science and technology of high-performance ceramics. The present volume contains selected papers from the third conference in the CICC series: CICC-3, which was held from the 9th to the 12th of May, 2004, in Shenzhen, China. It also contains 19 papers which were specially selected by Prof. Chang-Chun Ge and Prof. Jing-Feng Li from among the papers that were submitted to the First International Workshop on Layered and Graded Materials, which was organized as a special session within the framework of CICC-3. All of the papers which are collected together in this volume were subjected to peer-review and their topics cover almost every facet of high-performance ceramics. The contents can be divided into five broad sections: structural ceramics, functional ceramics, ceramic processing, ceramic characterization and layered or graded materials. The more than 300 papers, submitted to this volume by the many Chinese scholars, provide a treasure-house of invaluable information on the latest advances made in China. In addition, some 30 invited papers and about 50 regular papers presented by scholars from other countries - including Japan, Korea, India, France, Portugal, Sweden, Canada, Taiwan and Hong Kong - accurately reflect recent research activities throughout the world. This volume will therefore be of great interest to any scientist or engineer working in the field of high-performance ceramics.

Book Novel Colloidal Forming of Ceramics

Download or read book Novel Colloidal Forming of Ceramics written by Yong Huang and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2011-04-05 with total page 405 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Novel Colloidal Forming of Ceramics” discusses several new near-net-shape techniques for fabricating highly reliable, high-performance ceramic parts. These techniques combine injection molding and the colloidal forming process. The book not only introduces the basic theoretical development and applications of the colloidal injection molding of ceramics, but also covers tape casting technology, the reliability of the product, and the colloidal injection molding of Si3N4 and SiC, as well as the low-toxicity system. The book is intended for researchers and graduates in materials science and engineering. Mr. Yong Huang and Dr. Jinlong Yang are both professors at the Department of Materials Science and Engineering, Tsinghua University, China.

Book Novel Colloidal Forming of Ceramics

Download or read book Novel Colloidal Forming of Ceramics written by Jinlong Yang and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2020-01-28 with total page 568 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book discusses several new, near-net-shape techniques for fabricating highly reliable, high-performance, complex ceramic parts. In the context of materials design, the creation of high-performance ceramic products of desired shapes has led to the need for new ceramic forming processes. The near-net-shape techniques combine both injection-molding and colloidal-forming processes. Reviewing and summarizing the research and latest advances, the book is divided into 6 parts: (1) the basic theory, development, and application of the colloidal injection molding of ceramics; (2) the tape casting technology; (3) the reliability of the product; (4) the colloidal injection molding of Si3N4 and SiC; (5) low-toxicity systems; and (6) the novel in-situ coagulation casting of ceramic suspensions via controlled release of high-valence counter ions and dispersant removal. It is intended for researchers and graduates in materials science and engineering.

Book High Performance Ceramics VII

Download or read book High Performance Ceramics VII written by Wei Pan and published by . This book was released on 2012 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This special volume presents the latest advances in the science and technology of high-performance ceramics. More than 600, already-excellent, contributions were further refined, using a strict peer-review process, to yield the almost 400 manuscripts included in this collection. The result is an incomparable guide to the subject-matter of the title. The first volume in this two-volume set describes novel processes for manufacturing high-performance ceramics and the properties of ceramic composites. Researchers from Tsinghua University present a porous yttria-stabilized zirconia ceramic made by gelcasting with high solid loading slurry, a direct ink writing assembly for producing 3D functional ceramics, and porous mullite ceramics reinforced by mullite fiber. Volume two explores magnetic and optical ceramics, electrical properties, chemical and energy applications, and bioceramics. Six papers from Beijing Jiaotong University investigate the static seal of magnetic fluid, the properties of magnetic fluids for sensor design, and magnetic fluid dampers. Other topics of the 380 papers from the November 2011 conference include nanoporous hydrophobic silica aerogels, modified alumina for automobile catalysts, pressureless sintering of silicon nitride ceramics, and the damping properties of epoxy-embedded piezoelectric composites.
