Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides a collection of 15 excellent studies of Voice over IP (VoIP) technologies. While VoIP is undoubtedly a powerful and innovative communication tool for everyone, voice communication over the Internet is inherently less reliable than the public switched telephone network, because the Internet functions as a best-effort network without Quality of Service guarantee and voice data cannot be retransmitted. This book introduces research strategies that address various issues with the aim of enhancing VoIP quality. We hope that you will enjoy reading these diverse studies, and that the book will provide you with a lot of useful information about current VoIP technology research.

Book The Compiler Design Handbook

Download or read book The Compiler Design Handbook written by Y.N. Srikant and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-10-03 with total page 784 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Today’s embedded devices and sensor networks are becoming more and more sophisticated, requiring more efficient and highly flexible compilers. Engineers are discovering that many of the compilers in use today are ill-suited to meet the demands of more advanced computer architectures. Updated to include the latest techniques, The Compiler Design Handbook, Second Edition offers a unique opportunity for designers and researchers to update their knowledge, refine their skills, and prepare for emerging innovations. The completely revised handbook includes 14 new chapters addressing topics such as worst case execution time estimation, garbage collection, and energy aware compilation. The editors take special care to consider the growing proliferation of embedded devices, as well as the need for efficient techniques to debug faulty code. New contributors provide additional insight to chapters on register allocation, software pipelining, instruction scheduling, and type systems. Written by top researchers and designers from around the world, The Compiler Design Handbook, Second Edition gives designers the opportunity to incorporate and develop innovative techniques for optimization and code generation.

Download or read book Advances in Exception Handling Techniques written by Alexander Romanovsky and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2001-04-04 with total page 302 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Processing Modflow is one of the most complete three-dimensional groundwater and transport simulation systems in the world. The text and the companion full-version software (PMWIN) offer a totally integrated simulation system. PMWIN comes with a professional graphical user-interface, supported models and programs and several other useful modeling tools. The graphical user-interface allow one to create and simulate models with ease and fun. It can import DXF- and raster graphics and handle models with up to 1000 stress periods, 80 layers and 250,000 cells in each model layer. The model tools include a Presentation Tool, a Result Extractor, a Field Interpolator, a Field Generator, a Water Budget Calculator and a Graphic Viewer. Book and CD-ROM are targeted at novice and experienced groundwater modelers. The typical user is working as a hydrogeological or environmental consultant, in a water company, in a regulatory agency or a university.

Book Computational Science ICCS 2003

Download or read book Computational Science ICCS 2003 written by Peter M.A. Sloot and published by Springer. This book was released on 2003-08-03 with total page 1124 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Some of the most challenging problems in science and engineering are being addressed by the integration of computation and science, a research ?eld known as computational science. Computational science plays a vital role in fundamental advances in biology, physics, chemistry, astronomy, and a host of other disciplines. This is through the coordination of computation, data management, access to instrumentation, knowledge synthesis, and the use of new devices. It has an impact on researchers and practitioners in the sciences and beyond. The sheer size of many challenges in computational science dictates the use of supercomputing, parallel and distri- ted processing, grid-based processing, advanced visualization and sophisticated algorithms. At the dawn of the 21st century the series of International Conferences on Computational Science (ICCS) was initiated with a ?rst meeting in May 2001 in San Francisco. The success of that meeting motivated the organization of the - cond meeting held in Amsterdam April 21–24, 2002, where over 500 participants pushed the research ?eld further. The International Conference on Computational Science 2003 (ICCS 2003) is the follow-up to these earlier conferences. ICCS 2003 is unique, in that it was a single event held at two di?erent sites almost opposite each other on the globe – Melbourne, Australia and St. Petersburg, Russian Federation. The conference ran on the same dates at both locations and all the presented work was published in a single set of proceedings, which you hold in your hands right now.

Book Mobile and Wireless Communications Networks

Download or read book Mobile and Wireless Communications Networks written by Elizabeth M. Belding-Royer and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2004-10-21 with total page 510 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Mobile Ad hoc NETworks (MANETs) has attracted great research interest in recent years. A Mobile Ad Hoc Network is a self-organizing multi-hop wireless network where all hosts (often called nodes) participate in the routing and data forwarding process. The dependence on nodes to relay data packets for others makes mobile ad hoc networks extremely susceptible to various malicious and selfish behaviors. This point is largely overlooked during the early stage of MANET research. Many works simply assume nodes are inherently cooperative and benign. However, experiences from the wired world manifest that the reverse is usually true; and many works [3] [10] [9] [8] [12] [19] have pointed out that the impact of malicious and selfish users must be carefully investigated. The goal of this research is to address the cooperation problem and related security issues in wireless ad hoc networks. As a rule of thumb, it is more desirable to include security mechanisms in the design phase rather than continually patching the system for security breaches. As pointed out in [2] [1], there can be both selfish and malicious nodes in a mobile ad hoc network. Selfish nodes are most concerned about their energy consumption and intentionally drop packets to save power. The purpose of malicious nodes, on the other hand, is to attack the network using various intrusive techniques. In general, nodes in an ad hoc network can exhibit Byzantine behaviors.
