Book Problems of Multiphase Fluid Filtration

Download or read book Problems of Multiphase Fluid Filtration written by Anatoli? Nikolaevich Konovalov and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1994 with total page 198 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book deals with a spectrum of problems related to the mathematical modeling of multiphase filtration. Emphasis is placed on an inseparable triad: model ? algorithm ? computer code. An analysis of new and traditional filtration problems from the point of view of both their numerical implementation and the reproduction of one or another technological characteristics of the processes under consideration is given. The basic principles which underlie the construction of efficient numerical methods taking into account the filtration problems are discussed: non-evolutionary nature, degeneration, strongly varying coefficients, the (temporal) duration of the processes involved, etc. Also attention is paid to the splitting method in terms of the physical processes involved, the method of fictitious domains and the method of front separation in grid solution. A modular analysis is performed with computational algorithms, making it possible to set up simultaneously the structure of the algorithms themselves and the structure of programs to implement these algorithms on a computer. In conclusion, the author discusses issues concerning the possibility of constructing a model of an oil deposit on a computer.

Download or read book Computational Methods in Multiphase Flow IV written by A.A. Mammoli and published by WIT Press. This book was released on 2007-05-11 with total page 417 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Fluid Dynamics is one of the most important topics of applied mathematics and physics. Together with complex flows and turbulence, multiphase flows remains one of the most challenging areas of computational mechanics, and even seemingly simple problems remain unsolved to date. Multiphase flows are found in all areas of technology, at all length scales and flow regimes. The fluids involved can be compressible or incompressible, linear or nonlinear. Because of the complexity of the problem, it is often essential to utilize advanced computational and experimental methods to solve the complex equations that describe them. Challenges in these simulations include nonlinear fluids, treating drop breakup and coalescence, characterizing phase structures, and many others. This volume brings together work presented at the Fourth International Conference on Computational and Experimental Methods in Multiphase and Complex Flows. Featured topics include: Suspensions; Bubble and Drop Dynamics; Flow in Porous Media; Interfaces; Turbulent Flow; Injectors and Nozzles; Particle Image Velocimetry; Macroscale Constitutive Models; Large Eddy Simulation; Finite Volumes; Interface Tracking Methods; Biological Flows; Environmental Multiphase Flow; Phase Changes and Stochastic Modelling.

Book Instabilities in Multiphase Flows

Download or read book Instabilities in Multiphase Flows written by A. Berlemont and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-06-29 with total page 339 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The study of multiphase flows is of utmost interest for engineers who are more or less inevitably faced with them when handling various industrial processes or when dealing with environmental problems such as the dispersion of pollutants. It is also a large kingdom assembling many beautiful and weird landscapes in which wandering researchers may be caught by the fascination of precious stones or mysterious insets to deep and obscure caverns. Unfortunately, it is also an historically disconnected field of research, as testified by any textbook contents or by the scientific programs of conferences devoted to multiphase flows. For instance, is there a relation between fluidization and the study of interfacial waves, or between the behaviour of an annular film of liquid and the one of a free surface heated from below? The answer is indeed: yes. To help reveal some unity behind the avatars of multiphase flow behaviours, it has been decided to focus the interest on the instability phenomena. This book therefore provides the reader with most of the papers which have been accepted and/or presented at the international symposium on "instabilities in multiphase flows" held at the National Institute for Applied Science (INS A) in Rouen, France, from the 11 th of May to the 14th of May 1992. The topic of the conference has produced a strong emphasis on instability theory and nonlinear dynamics, including chaotic phenomena.

Book Upscaling Multiphase Flow in Porous Media

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book provides concise, up-to-date and easy-to-follow information on certain aspects of an ever important research area: multiphase flow in porous media. This flow type is of great significance in many petroleum and environmental engineering problems, such as in secondary and tertiary oil recovery, subsurface remediation and CO2 sequestration. This book contains a collection of selected papers (all refereed) from a number of well-known experts on multiphase flow. The papers describe both recent and state-of-the-art modeling and experimental techniques for study of multiphase flow phenomena in porous media. Specifically, the book analyses three advanced topics: upscaling, pore-scale modeling, and dynamic effects in multiphase flow in porous media. This will be an invaluable reference for the development of new theories and computer-based modeling techniques for solving realistic multiphase flow problems. Part of this book has already been published in a journal. Audience This book will be of interest to academics, researchers and consultants working in the area of flow in porous media.

This book was released on 2017-10-11 with total page 179 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The 9th book from this successful conference series, on Computational & Experimental Methods in Multiphase & Complex Flow, presents the latest research in one of the most challenging, yet most universally applicable areas of technology. Multiphase flows are found in all areas of technology and the range of related problems of interest is vast, including astrophysics, biology, geophysics, atmospheric process, and many areas of engineering. Progress in numerical methods has permitted the solution of many practical problems, helping to improve our understanding of the physics involved. The presented papers illustrate the close interaction between numerical modellers and researchers working to gradually resolve the many outstanding issues in our understanding of multiphase flow. They cover such topics as: Multiphase flow simulation; Bubble and drop dynamics; Interface behaviour; Experimental measurements; Energy applications; Compressible flows; Flow in porous media; Turbulent flow; Image processing; Heat transfer; Atomization; Hydromagnetics; Plasma; Fluidised beds; Cavitation; Multiphase chemical reactions.

Book Numerical Treatment of Multiphase Flows in Porous Media

Download or read book Numerical Treatment of Multiphase Flows in Porous Media written by Zhangxin Chen and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2000-08-15 with total page 467 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The need to predict, understand, and optimize complex physical and c- mical processes occurring in and around the earth, such as groundwater c- tamination, oil reservoir production, discovering new oil reserves, and ocean hydrodynamics, has been increasingly recognized. Despite their seemingly disparate natures, these geoscience problems have many common mathe- tical and computational characteristics. The techniques used to describe and study them are applicable across a broad range of areas. The study of the above problems through physical experiments, mat- matical theory, and computational techniques requires interdisciplinary col- boration between engineers, mathematicians, computational scientists, and other researchers working in industry, government laboratories, and univ- sities. By bringing together such researchers, meaningful progress can be made in predicting, understanding, and optimizing physical and chemical processes. The International Workshop on Fluid Flow and Transport in Porous - dia was successfully held in Beijing, China, August 2{6, 1999. The aim of this workshop was to bring together applied mathematicians, computational scientists, and engineers working actively in the mathematical and nume- cal treatment of ?uid ?ow and transport in porous media. A broad range of researchers presented papers and discussed both problems and current, state-of-the-art techniques.
