Book excerpt: The book consists of two parts. The first part consists of seven chapters and presents a new software for package Maple of releases 6-10. The tools represented in this chapters increase the range and efficiency of use of Maple on Windows platform. The basic attention is devoted to additional tools created in the process of practical use and testing the Maple of releases 4 - 10 which by some parameters extend essentially the opportunities of the package and facilitate the work with it.Whereas the algorithms of physical and engineering problems of the second part mainly use the finite element method (FEM). The part consists of eight chapters and solves in Maple environment the physical and engineering problems from such fields as: thermal conductivity, mechanics of deformable bodies, theory of elasticity, hydrodynamics, hydromechanics, etc. At last, application of Maple for solution of optimization problems is presented.

  • Pages : 257 pages

Download or read book General Statistics written by Victor Aladjev and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2014-10-17 with total page 257 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book is a statistic course for undergraduate students in all fields of social and economic sciences. The book presents a manual on a course "General Statistics", including a series of not quite traditional topics. Above all, it concerns the mathematical bases of statistics and use of computer technologies in statistic probing. At that, thematic choice of the chapters and sections of the book is caused not only by interests and tastes of the authors, but also by modern tendencies in applied statistics and orientation of the given work. The book contains a series of concrete proposals for improvement of statistic practice; many of them are based on our experience in practical statistical activity in statistical organs of USSR and Estonia. A comparability aspect of the Soviet statistic school inheriting many traditions of the worldwide known Russian school of probability theory and statistics, with western statistics can be a rather interesting to the English-speaking reader.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Book Description The present book is a statistical course for undergraduate students in all fields of social and economic sciences. The book presents a manual on the course "General Theory of Statistics", including a series of not quite traditional topics. First of all, it concerns the mathematical bases of statistics and use of computer technologies in statistical probing. Thematic choice of the chapters and sections of the book is caused not only by interests and tastes of the authors, but also by modern tendencies in applied statistics and orientation of the given work. The book is based on a course of lectures given by the first author for undergraduates in social and economic sciences along with three books published in Russian and English in Estonia, Lithuania and Byelorussia. This book has been written for a large enough audience of teachers, researchers, statisticians, students, collegians and users of statistics in behavioral and social sciences. Above all, the book is directed to a wide circle of the readers studying statistical disciplines in high schools and colleges; however, it can be useful also to persons independently studying statistics. Author Biography (Aladjev V.Z.) Professor Aladjev V.Z. was born on June 14, 1942 in the town Grodno (Byelorussia). Now, he is the First vice-president of the International Academy of Noosphere and the president of Tallinn Research Group, whose scientific results have received international recognition, first, in the field of mathematical theory of Cellular Automata (CA). He is member of a series of Russian and International Academies. Aladjev V. Z. is the author of more than 330 scientific publications, including 63 books, published in many countries. He participates as a member of the organizing committee and/or a guest lecturer in many international scientific forums in mathematics and cybernetics. Author Biography (Haritonov V.N.) Dr. Haritonov V.N. was born on August 2, 1946 in the town Nizhni Novgorod (Russia). On successful graduation from Tallinn Technical University, he has acquired a profession of economics. Since 1972, Haritonov V.N. has the respectable positions in the Estonian banking system. Now, he is the Chairman of the Board of Tallinn Business Bank. Most considerable methodological projects and practical results of Haritonov V.N. are related to economic sciences, and, above all, to banking field, including automation of banking system, banking statistics, etc. Along with a series of publications, Haritonov V.N. has participated in many scientific and applied forums on banking economics.

Book Explorations in Monte Carlo Methods

Download or read book Explorations in Monte Carlo Methods written by Ronald W. Shonkwiler and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2009-08-11 with total page 249 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Monte Carlo methods are among the most used and useful computational tools available today, providing efficient and practical algorithims to solve a wide range of scientific and engineering problems. Applications covered in this book include optimization, finance, statistical mechanics, birth and death processes, and gambling systems. Explorations in Monte Carlo Methods provides a hands-on approach to learning this subject. Each new idea is carefully motivated by a realistic problem, thus leading from questions to theory via examples and numerical simulations. Programming exercises are integrated throughout the text as the primary vehicle for learning the material. Each chapter ends with a large collection of problems illustrating and directing the material. This book is suitable as a textbook for students of engineering and the sciences, as well as mathematics.

Book Programming Languages and Systems in Computational Economics and Finance

Download or read book Programming Languages and Systems in Computational Economics and Finance written by Søren S. Nielsen and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2002-08-31 with total page 442 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The developments within the computationally and numerically oriented areas of Operations Research, Finance, Statistics and Economics have been significant over the past few decades. Each area has been developing its own computer systems and languages that suit its needs, but there is relatively little cross-fertilization among them yet. This volume contains a collection of invited, peer-reviewed papers that each highlights a particular system, language, model or paradigm from one of the computational disciplines, aimed at researchers and practitioners from the other fields. The 15 papers cover a wide range of relevant topics; Models and Modelling in Operations Research and Economic (Matt Saltzman; Pere Gomis-Porqueras and Alex Haro; Jerome Kruiser; Don Shobrys), novel High-level and Object-Oriented approaches to programming (Jurgen Doornik; Chris Birchenhall; Christopher Baum; Tim Hultberg), through advanced uses of Maple and MATLAB (Des Higham and Peter Kloeden; Ric Herbert, Jerzy Ombach and Jolanta Jarnicka; George Lindfield and John Penny), and applications and solution of Differential Equations in Finance (Peter Honoré and Rolf Poulsen; Jens Hugger; Sasha Cyganowski and Lars GrÃ1⁄4ne). Each article is written from a personal, explorative perspective that invites the reader to discover new approaches to solving old problems. In the longer run it is hoped that this volume will facilitate cross-fertilization among the computational fields.
