Book excerpt: 9/11 was an inside job. There was a secret agenda for vested interests at the highest levels of power. John ORourke, a former priest now working as a journalist, comes into possession of crucial evidence establishing the long-term plans of those in power in both the US and the UK., plans which show the events of 7/7 are not everything they appear to be either. ORourke knows too much and his life is at risk as he follows a trail of deception and intrigue that stretches from Dubai to the Balkans. But as ORourke amasses his proof, an unexpected development occurs. He is offered a stark choice with a 48-hour deadline: accept a million pounds to keep silent or face the prospect of death for himself and his family. The Secret Agenda some of the most important issues that face the world today, but told through the bleak dilemma of one man whose commitment to truth may mean the destruction of those he loves most. The book ends with the death of bin Laden at the hands of Seal Team Six, who knew he could not be captured alive due to his links with the Agency. Before each chapter factual extracts of information, of which the public are largely unaware, whet the readers appetite and an epilogue deals with the archetypal significance of the events. Book excerpt: Sometimes love can be a royal pain… When Sheikh Kamal first sees Erin across the room, he can’t keep his eyes off the stunning beauty. But Erin is unlike any other woman he had ever met. Even for an American, she’s exceptionally feisty, strong, and stubbornly independent. Erin had no idea that the handsome stranger she met at a party was really the leader of Jawhara, one of the wealthiest countries in the Middle East. To her, he’s simply an irresistibly sexy man. Tall, dark piercing eyes, killer body… He’d be perfect if it wasn’t for his personality. Arrogant, controlling, and dominating barely begins to describe him. After an intense night of passion, Kamal is called back to his country on an urgent matter, and Erin thinks that’s the end of it. But she couldn’t be more wrong. Because a few weeks later, Erin makes a shocking discovery. She’s pregnant with the heir to a kingdom. Kamal will do anything to bring her to make her his bride. But the last thing Erin wants is an arrogant prince as a husband. Can these two put their differences aside, and form the perfect royal family?

Book Rural Capitalist Development in The Jordan Valley

Download or read book Rural Capitalist Development in The Jordan Valley written by Mohamed F. Tarawneh and published by Sidestone Press. This book was released on 2014-01-01 with total page 116 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The case of Deir Alla is a social and economic case study of developing Third World agriculture. The study is based upon historical sources, contemporary public information with statistics, and field work in the Jordanian village of Deir Alla. This fieldwork took place in 1986 and a report was prepared in 1989. For this publication additional field work in 1997 accounted for the rapidly changing social and economic situation. The Ottoman feudal system, with the local harrath (ploughman) economy, changed gradually to private ownership since 1936, affecting the social relations of production. From 1950 onwards this development was strongly influenced by a sudden population increase (Palestinian refugees), the East Ghor irrigation system, the strong promotion of vegetable production and new technologies and institutions. Share cropping became the dominant feature of agrarian relations, but during the last decades international migrant labour expanded the wage labour system. Some types of production organization, such as the small-owner-family-labour system, proved to be more successful than others, but with the current difficult economic situation the debt trap is felt by many of these small owners. The book is important for the understanding of the social and economic history of the region, showing the dynamics of social change, but also because of its thorough analysis of the current situation, assessing theoretical models and predicting developments in a rapidly changing agricultural world.

Book The First Kuwait Oil Concession

Download or read book The First Kuwait Oil Concession written by A.H.T. Chisholm and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2012-11-12 with total page 274 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: First Published in 1975. The first Kuwait oil concession agreement, granted on 23rd December 1934 by the late Shaikh Ahmad al Jaber al Subah to the Kuwait Oil Company Ltd., has been of fundamental importance in the history of the State of Kuwait; whose great increase in prosperity and international influence during the last twenty-eight years has directly resulted from its oil production since 1946 under the Agreement and its 1951 successor. Hitherto no full or authoritative account of the very long and complex commercial and political negotiations preceding the Agreement has been compiled; and consequently all descriptions of them so far published (except those merely quoting the Agreement's terms and naming the parties concerned) have contained substantial omissions or errors of fact involving a wrong impression of what actually occurred. This text is a record of the negotiations between 1911 and 1934.
