Book Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences

Download or read book Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences written by Wade H. Shafer and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 306 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences was first conceived, published, and dis seminated by the Center for Information and Numerical Data Analysis and Synthesis (CINDAS) * at Purdue University in 1957, starting its coverage of theses with the academic year 1955. Beginning with Volume 13, the printing and dissemination phases of the ac tivity were transferred to University Microfilms/Xerox of Ann Arbor, Michigan, with the thought that such an arrangement would be more beneficial to the academic and general scientific and technical community. After five years of this joint undertaking we had concluded that it was in the interest of all concerned if the printing and distribution of the volume were handled by an international publishing house to assure improved service and broader dissemination. Hence, starting with Volume 18, Masters Theses in the Pure and Applied Sciences has been disseminated on a worldwide basis by Plenum Publishing Corporation of New York, and in the same year the coverage was broadened to include Canadian universities. All back issues can also be ordered from Plenum. We have reported in Volume 23 (thesis year 1978) a total of 10,148 theses titles from 27 Canadian and 220 United States universities. We are sure that this broader base for theses titles reported will greatly enhance the value of this important annual reference work. While Volume 23 reports these submitted in 1978, on occasion, certain universities do report theses submitted in previous years but not reported at the time.

Book Feasibility of Real Time Simulation of Airport airside Operations

Download or read book Feasibility of Real Time Simulation of Airport airside Operations written by James B. O'Neill and published by . This book was released on 1975 with total page 41 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This study is of real time simulation (RTS), or man-in-the-loop simulation. It is a part of a total study which includes the development of the following three classes of tools to estimate airfield performance and to determine means of maximizing the performance: Analytical models, fast time simulation, and real time simulation. The proposed real time simulation will provide an economical technique to evaluate the impact, from a controller's viewpoint, or porposed changes in an airfield, ATC hardware, and/or ATC procedures.

Book Modeling Airside Operations at Major Airports for Strategic Decision Support

Download or read book Modeling Airside Operations at Major Airports for Strategic Decision Support written by L. Douglas Smith and published by . This book was released on 2015 with total page 42 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Tens of billions of dollars are spent each year worldwide on airport infrastructure to promote safe, efficient, and environmentally friendly operations. Airport layouts, allocations of gates to carriers, and the manner of deploying ground equipment or personnel can dramatically affect passenger delays, fuel consumption, and air and noise pollution. Airport planners require reliable information about how different spheres of airport activity interact and how system performance would change with alterations to physical infrastructure or operating practices. We developed a discrete-event simulation model that can be used for strategic decisions regarding the provision and effective utilization of infrastructure needed for airside operations at major airports. We calibrated the model with detailed activity data for an entire year, verified its ability to represent essential spheres of activity, and illustrated its application to study system performance under several operating scenarios.

Book Airport Improvement Task Force Delay Study Delay Model Validation Plan

Download or read book Airport Improvement Task Force Delay Study Delay Model Validation Plan written by William J Dunlay (Jr) and published by . This book was released on 1977 with total page 55 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A validation plan is presented for an airside simulation model. The plan stresses basic principles of validation and inherent problems associated with comparing simulation model delay estimates with observable real-world data. A methodology is proposed that consists of three major steps: (1) evaluation of model logic, inputs, and outputs; (2) comparison of model estimates with collected data; and (3) a sensitivity analysis of the delay simulation model. A Model Validation Group, established to oversee the validation process, is described. Suggestions are given on sources of data on airside operations for model inputs and for comparisons with model estimates. (Author).

Book Principles of Flight Simulation

Download or read book Principles of Flight Simulation written by David Allerton and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 2009-10-27 with total page 492 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Principles of Flight Simulation is a comprehensive guide to flight simulator design, covering the modelling, algorithms and software which underpin flight simulation. The book covers the mathematical modelling and software which underpin flight simulation. The detailed equations of motion used to model aircraft dynamics are developed and then applied to the simulation of flight control systems and navigation systems. Real-time computer graphics algorithms are developed to implement aircraft displays and visual systems, covering OpenGL and OpenSceneGraph. The book also covers techniques used in motion platform development, the design of instructor stations and validation and qualification of simulator systems. An exceptional feature of Principles of Flight Simulation is access to a complete suite of software (www.wiley.com/go/allerton) to enable experienced engineers to develop their own flight simulator – something that should be well within the capability of many university engineering departments and research organisations. Based on C code modules from an actual flight simulator developed by the author, along with lecture material from lecture series given by the author at Cranfield University and the University of Sheffield Brings together mathematical modeling, computer graphics, real-time software, flight control systems, avionics and simulator validation into one of the faster growing application areas in engineering Features full colour plates of images and photographs. Principles of Flight Simulation will appeal to senior and postgraduate students of system dynamics, flight control systems, avionics and computer graphics, as well as engineers in related disciplines covering mechanical, electrical and computer systems engineering needing to develop simulation facilities.
