Book PRETTY LITTLE BASTARD CHILD

Download or read book PRETTY LITTLE BASTARD CHILD written by DANI and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2023-08-31 with total page 118 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The ’60s was a time of change in America, both good and not so good. The Vietnam war was culminating, and a peace movement was in full bloom, “Thanks to Dr Martin Luther King Jr.” His relentless quest for nonviolent change was starting to resonate, as well as the Civil rights uprisings. Up in Harlem, New York, a child was born. A female child, whom would soon become an incest survivor, drug addict, and last but surely not least, a lesbian. Yes, lesbian. The dirty little word that good little Christian folk couldn’t stomach, and still can’t even today. Here is my memoir of the Darkness that turned on GODS light. Review: Pretty Little Bastard Child, is a thoroughly, thought-provoking nail biter of a read. The freshness of the author’s writing is something to behold. In reading line for line, it never felt formal. She painted a picture and made me feel like I was in each scene of her life. What I thought would take weeks to read seemed like a fresh few hours of riveting page turning. I couldn’t wait to get to “the next part”. This (memoir) is a story of her internal struggle—to believe her own version of her life and to have the strength to break away from her past. It gives a glimpse into a way of life that most of us will never know, and it’s an inspiring story of one woman’s ability to change her future. Book The Tragedie of Macbeth

Download or read book The Tragedie of Macbeth written by William Shakespeare and published by McFarland. This book was released on 2012-09-26 with total page 435 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As Shakespeare's works are most accessible when viewed as working theatrical playscripts, "The Tragedie of Macbeth: A Frankly Annotated First Folio Edition" preserves the spelling, capitalization, and punctuation of the First Folio of 1623 while at the same time providing the most comprehensive, revelatory, and plainspoken annotation to date. Based on the principle that Shakespeare's plays were written as popular (and not entirely decent) entertainments aimed at an adult (and not overly refined) audience, this no-nonsense and sexually candid text offers performers, scholars, and anyone with an interest in Shakespeare a unique resource to gain valuable insights into the play, the world in which Shakespeare wrote, and the playhouse in which his plays were produced.

Book House of Remembering and Forgetting

Download or read book House of Remembering and Forgetting written by Filip David and published by Peter Owen Publishers. This book was released on 2017-11-02 with total page 147 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Young Albert Weiss was spared the horrors of Auschwitz when his parents threw him and his brother from the transport train. Years later, with the help of other survivors of the holocaust, he explores the myriad ways of confronting not just the evil that robbed him of his childhood, but the guilt he feels for having lost his brother on that wintry night.Mosaic, non-linear and semi-autobiographical, this book is reminiscent in style of Kurt Vonnegut's Slaughterhouse-Five and in theme of the works of Primo Levi. In documenting the stories of child survivors, it is a moving and necessary addition to the literature of the Holocaust.

No stranger to the study of anachronisms in archeological digs, Haywood is nevertheless puzzled by the artifact: a suit of clothing that, according to family legend, once belonged to a selkie who rose from the sea and married the castle’s first laird. But Haywood and Truelove soon realize they’re not the only ones interested in the selkie’s strange hide. When their mutual friend Lord Silverton vanishes in the night from an Edinburgh street, their quest takes a dangerous turn through time, which puts Haywood’s extraordinary talents—and Truelove’s courage—to their most breathtaking test yet.

Book Always the Children

Download or read book Always the Children written by Anne Watts and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2011-05-05 with total page 450 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The compassionate and compelling true story of a young nurse who left behind an idyllic rural life in post-war Britain to work in the world's most turbulent war zones. Anne Watts grew up in a small village in north Wales in the 1940s. Defying her Merchant Navy father's dated views, she trained as a nurse and midwife, joined the Save the Children Fund, and was posted to Vietnam in 1967. Once there, Anne was faced with a vision of hell that her training at Manchester's Royal Infirmary had barely prepared her for. Thrown in at the deep end, she witnessed the random cruelty of warfare, nursing injured and orphaned children and caring for wounded and dying servicemen. She went on to take her skills to the victims of Pol Pot's Khmer Rouge in Cambodia, to Lebanon during the Israeli occupation, and Saudi Arabia during Desert Storm. Over some forty-five years Anne has brought her courage and compassion to those most in need of help. Woven into this vivid, compelling memoir is perhaps the most moving story of all - how Anne's idyllic childhood was shattered by a shocking family tragedy when she was 10 years old. A tragedy that was to shape her destiny. ‘A magnificent life story. I feel humbled by Anne Watts' experiences' Jennifer Worth, author of Call the Midwife

Book A Child Alone with Strangers

Download or read book A Child Alone with Strangers written by Philip Fracassi and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2022-10-25 with total page 641 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: “Fracassi’s novel hits me like a cross between McCammon and '80s King. Might be one of them summer blockbusters readers love.” —Laird Barron, author of Worse Angels "A Child Alone with Strangers starts out as a slow burn procedural with supernatural elements and inexorably cranks itself into a pulse-pounding symphony of eldritch horrors and all-too-human violence. Philip Fracassi is the best sort of horror writer--one who is unafraid to hunt for light in even the darkest places." —Shaun Hamill, author of A Cosmology of Monsters When young Henry Thorne is kidnapped and held prisoner in a remote farmhouse surrounded by miles of forest, he finds himself connecting with a strange force living in the woods—using that bond to wreak havoc against his captors. Unknown to the boy, however, is that this ancient being has its own reasons for wanting the interlopers gone—there is something hidden beneath the house, tucked away in the dark, damp root cellar . . . waiting for its return.
