Download or read book Preparing Pastors for the Work of Ministry Through First Baptist Church Okmulgee Oklahoma written by Brayden Levi Buss and published by . This book was released on 2023 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This project seeks to develop a pastoral training program to be used in the context of First Baptist Church in Okmulgee, Oklahoma. The project argues that both from a biblical and practical standpoint pastors need to be trained and that this training is best when done in the local church. The first chapter uses the historical and current context of FBC to show the need for such a project. The second chapter builds case for this process using 3 New Testament passages that reveal Paul's method of training pastors. This chapter incorporates Paul's training with the Ephesian elders in Acts 20 and sections of his correspondence with both Timothy and Titus. The third chapter uses historical and practical resources to set a precedent for training pastors and doing this training in the context of relationships in the local church. In chapter three a case is made for the connection between church health and pastoral health, the need for pastoral training, and then using mentorship to accomplish this training.

Book Prepare Them to Shepherd

Download or read book Prepare Them to Shepherd written by Brian Croft and published by Zondervan. This book was released on 2014-06-03 with total page 85 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Are You Called to Ministry? Those who are involved in full-time ministry often say they have been “called” to do what they do. But what does that mean? Who does the “calling,” and how is it received? In Prepare Them to Shepherd, pastor Brian Croft unpacks the biblical model for preparing individuals for full-time ministry. In the past, training and sending individuals into full-time pastoral ministry and missionary work was viewed as the responsibility of the local church. Today, much of that responsibility has been delegated to Bible colleges, seminaries, and parachurch and mission organizations. The aim of Prepare Them to Shepherd is to challenge local churches to recover the biblical model for ministerial training and assume responsibility to identify and prepare gifted and godly individuals for service in Christ’s body. Part of the Practical Shepherding series of books, this insightful book provides pastors and ministry leaders with the practical help they need to test, train, affirm, and send those who are called into ministry.
