Book PREPARATIONS OF BRICKS USING MINE WASTE

Download or read book PREPARATIONS OF BRICKS USING MINE WASTE written by Ranjeet Kumar Singh and published by . This book was released on 2023-03-29 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The process of preparing bricks using mine waste involves mixing the waste materials, such as fly ash and bottom ash, with clay and other binding agents to create a homogeneous mixture. The mixture is then pressed into molds and allowed to dry and harden. The resulting bricks have several advantages, including lower costs, reduced environmental impact, and improved structural properties. The use of mine waste in brick making also helps to reduce the volume of waste produced by mining operations, making it a more sustainable practice. This process has the potential to make a significant contribution to sustainable construction and waste management practices. The use of mine waste in brick making has gained increasing attention in recent years due to the increasing demand for sustainable construction materials and the need for effective waste management practices. The mining industry generates a significant amount of waste materials, such as fly ash and bottom ash, which are often disposed of in landfills or ponds. However, these waste materials have the potential to be used as raw materials for brick making. The process of preparing bricks using mine waste involves several steps. The waste materials are first collected and transported to the brick manufacturing site. The waste materials are then mixed with clay and other binding agents to form a homogeneous mixture. The proportion of mine waste to other ingredients in the mixture may vary depending on the quality and quantity of the waste material. Once the mixture is prepared, it is then pressed into molds using hydraulic or manual presses. The molded mixture is then allowed to dry and harden, either through air drying or by using a kiln. The resulting bricks are then ready for use in construction.

Book Preparation of Clay Brick Using Coal Waste

Download or read book Preparation of Clay Brick Using Coal Waste written by and published by . This book was released on 2004 with total page 5 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A great deal of coal waste produced during the development of a mine was accumulated around the mine, which caused many problems such as traffic, acid mine drainage and damage of forest and scenery. Carbon in the coal waste helps calcination of the brick even at low temperature. Considering the reuse of natural waste and energy saving, clay brick was prepared using coal waste under various conditions, including particle size, amount of coal waste mixed, calcination temperature and pressing pressure. The specimens were characterized by XRD, SEM and TG-DTA and interpreted in terms of water absorption and compressive strength.

Book Geopolymers as Sustainable Surface Concrete Repair Materials

Download or read book Geopolymers as Sustainable Surface Concrete Repair Materials written by Ghasan Fahim Huseien and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2022-08-11 with total page 221 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The progressive deterioration of concrete surface structures is a major concern in construction engineering that requires precise repairing. While a number of repair materials have been developed, geopolymer mortars have been identified as potentially superior and environmentally friendly high-performance construction materials, as they are synthesized by selectively combining waste materials containing alumina and silica compounds which are further activated by a strong alkaline solution. Geopolymers as Sustainable Surface Concrete Repair Materials offers readers insights into the synthesis, properties, benefits and applications of geopolymer-based materials for concrete repair. • Discusses manufacturing and design methods of geopolymer-based materials • Assesses mechanical strength and durability of geopolymer-based materials under different aggressive environmental conditions • Characterizes the microstructure of these materials using XRD, SEM, EDX, TGA, DTG and FTIR measurements • Describes application of geopolymer-based materials as surface repair materials • Compares environmental and cost benefits against those of traditional OPC and commercial repair materials This book is written for researchers and professional engineers working with concrete materials, including civil and materials engineers.

Book Eco efficient Masonry Bricks and Blocks

Download or read book Eco efficient Masonry Bricks and Blocks written by Fernando Pacheco-Torgal and published by Woodhead Publishing. This book was released on 2014-11-27 with total page 549 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Masonry walls constitute the interface between the building's interior and the outdoor environment. Masonry walls are traditionally composed of fired-clay bricks (solid or perforated) or blocks (concrete or earth-based), but in the past (and even in the present) they were often associated as needing an extra special thermal and acoustical insulation layer. However, over more recent years investigations on thermal and acoustical features has led to the development of new improved bricks and blocks that no longer need these insulation layers. Traditional masonry units (fired-clay bricks, concrete or earth-based blocks) that don't offer improved performance in terms of thermal and acoustical insulation are a symbol of a low-technology past, that are far removed from the demands of sustainable construction. This book provides an up-to-date state-of-the-art review on the eco-efficiency of masonry units, particular emphasis is placed on the design, properties, performance, durability and LCA of these materials. Since masonry units are also an excellent way to reuse bulk industrial waste the book will be important in the context of the Revised Waste Framework Directive 2008/98/EC which states that the minimum reuse and recycling targets for construction and demolition waste (CDW) should be at least 70% by 2020. On the 9th of March 2011 the European Union approved the Regulation (EU) 305/2011, known as the Construction Products Regulation (CPR) and it will be enforced after the 1st of July 2013. The future commercialization of construction materials in Europe makes their environmental assessment mandatory meaning that more information related to the environmental performance of building materials is much needed. - Provides an authoritative guide to the eco-efficiency of masonry units - Examines the reuse of waste materials - Covers a range of materials including, clay, cement, earth and pumice

Book Geopolymers and Other Geosynthetics

Download or read book Geopolymers and Other Geosynthetics written by Mazen Alshaaer and published by BoD – Books on Demand. This book was released on 2020-02-26 with total page 182 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Geopolymers are applied to material classes that are chemically transformed from low crystallinity aluminusilicates to three-dimensional inorganic polymers (tectosilicates). The resulting material has properties similar to natural minerals, so it is called artificial rock. However, these materials exhibit a chemical composition and mineralogical structure similar to feldspar, feldspathoidal, and zeolites consisting of a polymeric Si–O– Al framework, with a microcrystalline or an amorphous structure. Although geopolymers have attractive engineering and environmental characteristics, there are some challenges in commercializing these materials. In this book, these challenges will be addressed along with introducing the functional geopolymers as an effective approach to commercializing these materials and making them economically feasible.
