Download or read book Molybdenum Chemistry of Biological Significance written by William E. Newton and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 419 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In retrospect, it was obvious that we were both, quite inde pendently, contemplating a conference on the role of molybdenum in biology and related chemistry. At the time though, the meeting of minds on this matter was quite surprising. Although this subject has been treated in previous meetings within the overall context of, say, magnetic resonance or nitrogen fixation, it was apparent to us both that research in molybdenum-containing enzymes and molyb denum chemistry had progressed rapidly in the last several years. Jointly, we decided to organize the first meeting on Molybdenum Chemistry of Biological Significance which was held at the Hotel Lake Biwa, Shiga, Japan, on April 10-13, 1979. This volume con stitutes the Proceedings of that international conference and covers the broad spectrum of interests from enzymes to coordination chemistry. It should serve not only as a source of new information on the latest research results in this area and as a useful ref erence tool, but should also allow a newcomer or other peripherally interested researcher to become conversant very rapidly with the "state-of-the-art" in this specialized and important area of research. The conference was sponsored by the Japan Society for the Promotion of Science, the Japan World Exposition Commemerative Fund the Yamada Science Foundation, the Nissan Science Foundation, the Chemical Society of Japan (Kinki Regional Office) and the Agri cultural Chemical Society of Japan (Kansai Branch). We thank these organizations sincerely for their interest and generosity.

This book was released on 1997-04-08 with total page 622 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book has been written at a time when environmental issues and the move towards "clean technology" is driving synthetic chemists away from organic based solvent systems and towards water as the preferred medium of the future. The paints industry has already moved to aqueous based products. Metal aqua complexes are widely used in the areas of catalysis, dyes and pigments and in hydrometallurgy where a complete understanding of the metal ions in aqueous media is highly desirable.

Download or read book Inorganic Chemistry of the Transition Elements written by B. F. G. Johnson and published by Royal Society of Chemistry. This book was released on 1977 with total page 519 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Annotation. Specialist Periodical Reports provide systematic and detailed review coverage of progress in the major areas of chemical research. Written by experts in their specialist fields the series creates a unique service for the active research chemist, supplying regular critical in-depth accounts of progress in particular areas of chemistry. For over 80 years the Royal Society of Chemistry and its predecessor, the Chemical Society, have been publishing reports charting developments in chemistry, which originally took the form of Annual Reports. However, by 1967 the whole spectrum of chemistry could no longer be contained within one volume and the series Specialist Periodical Reports was born. The Annual Reports themselves still existed but were divided into two, and subsequently three, volumes covering Inorganic, Organic and Physical Chemistry. For more general coverage of the highlights in chemistry they remain a 'must'. Since that time the SPR series has altered according to the fluctuating degree of activity in various fields of chemistry. Some titles have remained unchanged, while others have altered their emphasis along with their titles; some have been combined under a new name whereas others have had to be discontinued. The current list of Specialist Periodical Reports can be seen on the inside flap of this volume.

Download or read book Annual Reports in Inorganic and General Syntheses 1975 written by Hans Zimmer and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-09-11 with total page 355 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Annual Reports in Inorganic and General Syntheses–1975 presents an annual review of synthetically useful information that would prove beneficial to nearly all organic chemists, both specialist and nonspecialist in synthesis. It should help relieve some of the information storage burden of the specialist and should aid the nonspecialist who is seeking help with a specific problem to become rapidly aware of recent synthetic advances. This is the fourth volume of "ARIGS" and is organized along the lines used for the last volume. The authors were encouraged to use synthetic aspects as their primary guideline for the arrangement and preservation of the information; however, an occasional deviation to include structural or mechanistic features seemed to be justified in order to reflect the particular features of a given element's chemistry. Complex hydrides were dealt with under the particular elements. As a consequence there is no chapter on simple and complex metal hydrides of main groups I, II, and III in the present volume. As in previous issues of ARIGS, this volume presents an article of a timely subject of special interest. This year's special feature is the "Synthesis of Radiopharmaceuticals by the Reduction of 99m TcO4-."
