Book excerpt: This study was completed to find if there is a predictive model for performance on the Missouri Assessment Program from scores on the Performance Series Assessment. When considering ones methods of teaching, the varying learning styles should be of utmost consideration. If learning styles and methods of teaching are taken into consideration, it will inevitably affect how students perform on the end of year MAP assessment. The study was conducted by accessing student data via the school district's INFORM database. After reviewing both Performance Series and MAP test scores, they were inputted into A Statistical Package to complete a Simple Linear Regression analysis. Findings in this study show that there is a predictive model for the Communication Arts MAP test based upon how a student performs on the periodic Communication Arts Performance Series assessment throughout the school year. The reasoning behind this is not pinpointed in this study, but differing brain makeup and learning styles are obvious attributes. After compiling the data that resulted in the findings aforementioned, researching current literature, it is found that there is a predictive model for a student's score on the MAP test following the review of their previous performance on the Performance Series assessment.

Book excerpt: This study was completed to find if there is a significant difference in student achievement when the schools professionals are implementing professional learning communities. Research shows that giving teacher the time and resources to collaborate in a Professional Learning Community will have a direct effect on student achievement. This is a study of one school in Missouri who recently began implementing professional learning communities. All data was found from the DESE website. The data used was from the 2013 and 2014 school year in the third through fifth grades. The study looks at Communication Arts and Mathematics scores on the Missouri Assessment Program. After compiling and reviewing the findings of the study, current research and literature and statistical data from this state it is found that there is not a difference in student achievement when Professional Learning Communities are implemented. A school whose staff works as a functioning Professional Learning Community are performing better on the Missouri Assessment Program.

Book excerpt: "The purpose of this study was to analyze the Missouri Assessment Program (MAP) scores to see if they can be predicted by the Performance Series scores. The research includes findings that answer the question, "Can the Missouri Assessment Program scores be predicted from the Performance Series scores in third and fourth grade reading and math and fifth grade reading, math, and science?" The research was conducted using scores from third, fourth, and fifth grade students in a suburban Missouri school district. The Performance Series test is a computerized test that the district requires every third, fourth, and fifth grade student to take. It compares the scores of all students in those grade levels against one another. The findings were analyzed through Microsoft Excel and A Statistical Program (ASP) software utilizing Simple Linear Regression. Findings indicate that the third grade, fourth grade, and fifth grade MAP Communication Arts and Math scores can be predicted from the Performance Series Communication Arts and Math scores. These can be predicted with high significance. Further study of internal and external factors is warranted. Additionally, school districts may want to consider how "bubble" students will be targeted after the Performance Series is taken in preparation for the MAP test."

The findings indicate that there is significant power of prediction between the Acuity prediction and the MAP scores for both areas of math and ELA."

Book excerpt: The Cape Girardeau Public School district has participated in summative assessment practices as mandated federal requirements. As required in Missouri, the district currently uses the Missouri Assessment Program (MAP) as its summative measurement. To gauge progress throughout the school year, the district also uses a variety of formative assessments. One of the assessments used to measure progress in the area of communication arts is the Diagnostic Reading Assessment, Second Edition (DRA2). The purpose of the study was to conduct a correlational analysis of the DRA2 and the MAP to determine if the performance on the DRA2 could predict a student's performance on the MAP. Correlation coefficients were computed between the DRA2 scores and MAP scores for grades 3 and 4 for both the 2009-10 and 2010-11 school years. Correlation coefficients indicated a strong to very strong correlation for both cohorts when comparing both the Grade 3 and 4 DRA2 scores to the Grade 3 and 4 MAP scores. There was also a very strong correlation when comparing the Grade 3 DRA2 scores to the Grade 4 MAP score. Therefore, the DRA2 does appear to be a good predictor of performance on the MAP.
