Book The Microstructure of Superalloys

Download or read book The Microstructure of Superalloys written by Madeleine Durand-Charre and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-11-22 with total page 144 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Presents all the main aspects of the microstructure of nickel-base superalloys, and includes micrographs chosen from among a large range of commercial and academic alloys, from the as-cast product to in-situ components, worn from in-service use. Including more than 100 illustrations, the text explains all the transformation mechanisms involved in the origination (creation) of microstructures during solidification or heat treatments (crystallization paths, segregation, crystal orientation, precipitation, TCP, coarsening and rafting, etc.). It includes up-to-date information and data such as phase diagrams, crystallographic structures, and relationships with functional properties. Nearly 300 references provide a key to further investigation.

Book Nickel Ion Damage in a Precipitation Hardened Nickel Aluminum

Download or read book Nickel Ion Damage in a Precipitation Hardened Nickel Aluminum written by LG. Kirchner and published by . This book was released on 1976 with total page 15 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A precipitation-hardened nickel 14 atom percent aluminum alloy has been irradiated with 2.8 MeV 58Ni+ ions at a damage rate of 4.4 x 10-2 displacements per atom (dpa)/s, over a temperature range of 525 to 725 °C (977 to 1337 °F), to a damage level of 20 dpa, and at 625 °C (1157°F) over a dose range of 4 to 125 dpa. The experiment was designed to examine the stability of Ni3Al precipitates as a function of temperature and dose as well as their role in reducing swelling.

Book Alloying

    Book Details:
  • Author : Joseph R. Davis
  • Publisher : ASM International
  • Release : 2001-01-01
  • ISBN : 1615030638
  • Pages : 658 pages

Download or read book Alloying written by Joseph R. Davis and published by ASM International. This book was released on 2001-01-01 with total page 658 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Alloying: Understanding the Basics is a comprehensive guide to the influence of alloy additions on mechanical properties, physical properties, corrosion and chemical behavior, and processing and manufacturing characteristics. The coverage considers "alloying" to include any addition of an element or compound that interacts with a base metal to influence properties. Thus, the book addresses the beneficial effects of major alloy additions, inoculants, dopants, grain refiners, and other elements that have been deliberately added to improve performance, as well the detrimental effects of minor elements or residual (tramp) elements included in charge materials or that result from improper melting or refining techniques. The content is presented in a concise, user-friendly format. Numerous figures and tables are provided. The coverage has been weighted to provided the most detailed information on the most industrially important materials.
