Book Cosmic Cradle Revised Edition

Download or read book Cosmic Cradle Revised Edition written by Elizabeth M. Carman and published by North Atlantic Books. This book was released on 2013-04-16 with total page 393 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Where was your soul before you were born? If your soul is immortal, did it have a "life" prior to birth? Did you choose your life and parents? Is reincarnation real? Elizabeth and Neil Carman, the authors of Cosmic Cradle, address these questions through interviews with adults and children who report pre-birth experiences (PBEs) not based on regression, hypnosis, or drugs. Instead, interviewees recall their pre-birth existence completely sober and awake. In contrast to near-death experiences (NDEs), which have been well documented to show us what the soul experiences after death, PBEs throw light upon our lives before birth. People with NDEs sense that they "return home" when their spirits cross to the other side. What is the nature of this place we "return" to? PBEs suggest that we come from the same place we return to: we come from the Light and return to the Light. The same eternal "you" progresses through life before life, human life, and life after death. This new edition of Cosmic Cradle explores your soul's journey into your mother's womb--where your soul comes from, the origin and purpose of your life, and the process by which you entered an earthly body. In pre-birth communications, parents meet a soul seeking to cross over from the heavenly realm to human birth. Persons with pre-birth memories recall existence in a luminous world before birth, in which they preview the upcoming life with a Divine Planner, and recall how they journeyed to their mothers' wombs. Book Reincarnation and Karma An Introduction

Download or read book Reincarnation and Karma An Introduction written by Judith von Halle and published by CLAIRVIEW BOOKS. This book was released on 2022-04-12 with total page 62 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What is the meaning of life? As human beings, we cannot avoid this most basic question of earthly existence. Is consciousness simply an accident of the universe, as modern science would claim? On the other hand, many established religions suggest that life is a one-time experience, culminating in ‘eternal life’ in heaven or some kind of purgatory or hell. But how could this be equitable, given people’s vastly differing life circumstances? As a response to such questions, the author discusses the concept of reincarnation – the development of individual souls over multiple lifetimes. She examines the idea of fate in relation to one’s occupation. What is more important: a well-paid career or finding one’s true vocation? Are our ‘innate’ talents and abilities the result of a gene-lottery at conception, or could they be related to pre-birth existence – to our own intentions for our forthcoming life on earth? The notion of reincarnation is a pre¬requisite for understanding one’s personal destiny or karma – a personal ‘life plan’ created before our incarnation on earth. Through such ideas, the consciousness of one’s immortal soul-core – our inner being, that exists both before birth and after death – can be awoken. The transcript of this enlightening talk is a stimulating introduction to contemporary perspectives on the ancient teaching of reincarnation and karma.

By contrast, the idea that we have an eternal identity appeals to some deep intuition about the self. And indeed, belief in the soul's pre-mortal existence has a long history in Western thought. Terryl Givens offers the first systematic exploration of this fascinating if generally unfamiliar feature of Western cultural history.

Book Reincarnation and the Law of Karma

Download or read book Reincarnation and the Law of Karma written by William Walker Atkinson and published by Binker North. This book was released on 1908 with total page 266 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: By "Reincarnation" we mean the repeated incarnation, or embodiment in flesh, of the soul or immaterial part of man's nature. The term "Metempsychosis" is frequently employed in the same sense, the definition of the latter term being: "The passage of the soul, as an immortal essence, at the death of the body, into another living body." The term "Transmigration of Souls" is sometimes employed, the term being used in the sense of "passing from one body into another." But the term "Transmigration" is often used in connection with the belief of certain undeveloped races who held that the soul of men sometimes passed into the bodies of the lower animals, as a punishment for their sins committed during the human life. But this belief is held in disrepute by the adherents of Reincarnation or Metempsychosis, and has no connection with their philosophy or beliefs, the ideas having sprung from an entirely different source, and having nothing in common. There are many forms of belief--many degrees of doctrine--regarding Reincarnation, as we shall see as we proceed, but there is a fundamental and basic principle underlying all of the various shades of opinion, and divisions of the schools. This fundamental belief may be expressed as the doctrine that there is in man an immaterial Something (called the soul, spirit, inner self, or many other names) which does not perish at the death or disintegration of the body, but which persists as an entity, and after a shorter or longer interval of rest reincarnates, or is re-born, into a new body--that of an unborn infant--from whence it proceeds to live a new life in the body, more or less unconscious of its past existences, but containing within itself the "essence" or results of its past lives, which experiences go to make up its new "character," or "personality." It is usually held that the rebirth is governed by the law of attraction, under one name or another, and which law operates in accordance with strict justice, in the direction of attracting the reincarnating soul to a body, and conditions, in accordance with the tendencies of the past life, the parents also attracting to them a soul bound to them by some ties in the past, the law being universal, uniform, and equitable to all concerned in the matter. This is a general statement of the doctrine as it is generally held by the most intelligent of its adherents.

Book Real Essentialism

  • Author : David S. Oderberg
  • Publisher : Routledge
  • Release : 2007-11-13

Download or read book Real Essentialism written by David S. Oderberg and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2007-11-13 with total page 329 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Real Essentialism presents a comprehensive defence of neo-Aristotelian essentialism. Do objects have essences? Must they be the kinds of things they are in spite of the changes they undergo? Can we know what things are really like – can we define and classify reality? Many if not most philosophers doubt this, influenced by centuries of empiricism, and by the anti-essentialism of Wittgenstein, Quine, Popper, and other thinkers. Real Essentialism reinvigorates the tradition of realist, essentialist metaphysics, defending the reality and knowability of essence, the possibility of objective, immutable definition, and its relevance to contemporary scientific and metaphysical issues such as whether essence transcends physics and chemistry, the essence of life, the nature of biological species, and the nature of the person.
