Book Practices for Project level Analyses for Air Quality

Download or read book Practices for Project level Analyses for Air Quality written by John Zamurs and published by . This book was released on 2021 with total page 66 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The nature of the transportation project-level air quality arena is evolving, and there are potentially significant impacts to project schedules and budgets should air quality issues arise. The TRB National Cooperative Highway Research Program's NCHRP Synthesis 576: Practices for Project-Level Analyses for Air Quality compiles and documents information regarding existing practices related to project-level air quality analysis by state departments of transportation (DOTs). Included within the report is Appendix A, a survey on project-level air quality. Supplementary to the report is the survey's findings, in Appendix B.

Book Air Quality Management in the United States

Download or read book Air Quality Management in the United States written by National Research Council and published by National Academies Press. This book was released on 2004-08-30 with total page 426 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Managing the nation's air quality is a complex undertaking, involving tens of thousands of people in regulating thousands of pollution sources. The authors identify what has worked and what has not, and they offer wide-ranging recommendations for setting future priorities, making difficult choices, and increasing innovation. This new book explores how to better integrate scientific advances and new technologies into the air quality management system. The volume reviews the three-decade history of governmental efforts toward cleaner air, discussing how air quality standards are set and results measured, the design and implementation of control strategies, regulatory processes and procedures, special issues with mobile pollution sources, and more. The book looks at efforts to spur social and behavioral changes that affect air quality, the effectiveness of market-based instruments for air quality regulation, and many other aspects of the issue. Rich in technical detail, this book will be of interest to all those engaged in air quality management: scientists, engineers, industrial managers, law makers, regulators, health officials, clean-air advocates, and concerned citizens.

Book Traffic Related Air Pollution

Download or read book Traffic Related Air Pollution written by Haneen Khreis and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2020-08-20 with total page 650 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Traffic-Related Air Pollution synthesizes and maps TRAP and its impact on human health at the individual and population level. The book analyzes mitigating standards and regulations with a focus on cities. It provides the methods and tools for assessing and quantifying the associated road traffic emissions, air pollution, exposure and population-based health impacts, while also illuminating the mechanisms underlying health impacts through clinical and toxicological research. Real-world implications are set alongside policy options, emerging technologies and best practices. Finally, the book recommends ways to influence discourse and policy to better account for the health impacts of TRAP and its societal costs. Overviews existing and emerging tools to assess TRAP’s public health impacts Examines TRAP’s health effects at the population level Explores the latest technologies and policies--alongside their potential effectiveness and adverse consequences--for mitigating TRAP Guides on how methods and tools can leverage teaching, practice and policymaking to ameliorate TRAP and its effects

Book Assessing Air Pollution Dispersion Models for Emissions Regulation

Download or read book Assessing Air Pollution Dispersion Models for Emissions Regulation written by Edward W. Carr and published by . This book was released on 2023 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: State departments of transportation (DOTs) conduct project-level air quality analyses to comply with the National Environmental Policy Act and meet transportation conformity rule requirements where applicable. DOTs are interested in a rigorous and systematic model review and update process for regulatory dispersion models to ensure the models generate credible results. NCHRP Research Report 1058: Assessing Air Pollution Dispersion Models for Emissions Regulation, from TRB's National Cooperative Highway Research Program, presents state-of-the-art methods and analytical approaches for project-level air quality modeling by reviewing eight air quality models in use for transportation project analyses.

Book Air Quality Integrated Assessment

Download or read book Air Quality Integrated Assessment written by Giorgio Guariso and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-11-23 with total page 116 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is open access under a CC BY 4.0 license. This book reports on the results of an extended survey conducted across Europe within the framework of the APPRAISAL FP7 project to determine the extent to which an integrated assessment approach to air quality is being adopted, on the one hand, by regional and local authorities to develop air quality plans and, on the other, by researchers. Following a detailed analysis of the role and structure of the components of an integrated assessment study, the results of the survey are considered from a variety of perspectives. Above all, the book discusses the new light the survey sheds on emission abatement policies and measures planned at regional and local scales, and on their synergies/trade-offs with measures implemented at the national scale. Detailed consideration is given to the currently available modeling methodologies for identifying emission sources, assessing the effectiveness of emission reduction measures, and evaluating the impacts of emission abatement measures on human health. Current strengths and weaknesses revealed by the survey are explored, and the application of an integrated assessment tool in two case studies (in Brussels and Porto) is discussed. The book will appeal to all those interested in the use of integrated assessment in connection with the sources, effects and control of air pollution.
