Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: I have learned many practical lessons about ministry. But with the help of some of my pastor friends, I now have a whole book of practical lessons about ministry. I simply asked each of them to share the one lesson they would like to share with other pastors. This book is designed to share valuable time-tested lessons from men who have pastored for many, many years. Most of these men have pastored the same church for over a quarter of a century. If you added them all up, there are over 200 years of ministry experience in this book.My prayer is that these lessons will save a young pastor from making some of the same mistakes these experienced pastors have made. I am also hoping that these lessons will give some guidance and wise counsel to a discouraged pastor who does not know what to do in a church mess. If you are not a pastor, I hope this book will help you to begin to understand the complicated situations in which pastors often find themselves. - Greg Burdine

Book excerpt: Going to college brings a time of discovery. Are you ready for what lies ahead? How will you fare going to college – leaving behind the safety of home, community, and church? How will you keep your faith in college? Drawing on their own experiences and years of ministry to young men and women during this transition of going to college, Nic and Syler provide a game plan you can follow to survive and thrive, to live out your faith in college. “Game Plan has the potential to equip our college students (and soon to be college students) with an anchored, informed, buoyant love for God that can breathe through every corner of their lives.” -Mark DeVries, president of Youth Ministry Architects and author of Sustainable Youth Ministry “This wise, straight-talking book offers much practical advice on the many challenges that Christian students face when they step onto the university campus. I highly recommend it.” -Paul Copan, Professor and Pledger Family Chair of Philosophy and Ethics, Palm Beach Atlantic University “Get this book into the hands of your college bound students and children! Too many students go off to college unprepared to face the spiritual, moral, intellectual and practical challenges they will face and I see the negative effects in their lives on campus. With practical wisdom and real life stories, this book hits all the big topics a young student needs to not just survive college but mature and grow a dynamic Christian walk.” -R. Shannon Marion, National Field Director, InterVarsity Christian Fellowship “For every student headed to college, this is a must-read. Gibson and Thomas have written a practical, spiritual, timely book that addresses real concerns of those who are continuing their education at a college or university, secular or faith-based.” -Bishop Larry M. Goodpaster, President, Council of Bishops, The United Methodist Church

Book The Holy Spirit and Practical Wisdom for Ministers

Download or read book The Holy Spirit and Practical Wisdom for Ministers written by Romeo Macale and published by . This book was released on 2020-10-20 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One of the most misunderstood teachings of the Scriptures is the doctrine of the Holy Spirit. Almost all religions, religious groups, cults, theologians, and religious writers alike have erroneously written and taught things that are blasphemous against the Person of the Holy Ghost and have done great damage to the local New Testament Baptist churches. Basically this affected the faith of some Baptist believers which lead them to embrace the teachings of Pentecostal and Charismatic centres, groups or cults, and now they speak in tongues, embrace the gospel of prosperity, pleasure, healing, happiness, and thrill; they believe on gifts of the Spirit as evidence of one being truly saved. Unless one becomes or joins these groups or cults he is not a real Christian.Due to this lack of wisdom there arises the harm done by the errant teaching on the doctrine of the Holy Spirit and it has been prevalent everywhere and some Baptist believer cannot anymore distinguish between a genuine Spirit of God and a demonic spirit. People are led to believe that if a spirit gives them prosperity, pleasure, healing, happiness, and thrill, then it can be construed as the act or gift of the Holy Spirit on the ground that the Spirit's desire is to make believers enjoy comfort, happiness, and prosperity. For an individual, if something makes him sick, suffer, or struggle, then it is not of the Holy Spirit. This book attempts to explain the harm that has been done by errant teaching on the doctrine of the Holy Spirit. Likewise, it tries to rationalise the importance to teach Baptist people the truth about the doctrine of the Holy Spirit. How does anyone know God has called him to preach? The marks of those who are called to preach can be found from chapters 4 to 6. While this book is not a panacea for finding God's call for the ministry, but it flashes some hints for a God-called preacher of the Gospel ministry.
