The task in this paper is to analyze the power situation and see what part the transmission by leather belting has to play. To do this, I have been fortunate in procuring first hand information from the leather belting manufacturers and organizations connected with the industry. Without these sources of helpful aids and suggestions this thesis would have been impossible. In part my purpose has been to contrast the transmission of power by the mechanical means of leather belting with the more modern method of direct drive through individual electric motors. Further, I have attempted to get a bird's eye view of the leather belting industry and to see the possibilities of its organizing to meet the effect of modern competition.In this thesis the writer has attempted to present a study of "life insurance company investments" and to convey to the reader an understanding of the types of investments made by life insurance companies, the characteristics of these types of investments, and the problems which arise with regard to them. Since the investments reviewed herein have been historically considered as the very best of all types of investments, and therefore exert a stabilizing influence in business, it has seemed to the writer that because of the problems which life insurance companies are facing today, a study of life insurance company investments should be one of great interest and importance at this time.
