This book was released on 2013-07 with total page 192 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The United States Government Printing Office (GPO) was created in June 1860, and is an agency of the the U.S. federal government based in Washington D.C. The office prints documents produced by and for the federal government, including Congress, the Supreme Court, the Executive Office of the President and other executive departments, and independent agencies. The Coastal Zone Information Center (CZIC) collection provides access to nearly 5,000 coastal related documents that the U.S. Government Printing Office (GPO) received from the National Oceanic and Atmospheric Administration (NOAA) Central Library. The collection provides almost 30 years of data and information crucial to the understanding of U.S. coastal management and NOAA's mission to sustain healthy coasts. This is one of their documents.

Book Responding to Changes in Sea Level

Download or read book Responding to Changes in Sea Level written by National Research Council and published by National Academies Press. This book was released on 1987-02-01 with total page 161 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Over the last 100 years, sea level has risen approximately 12 centimeters and is expected to continue rising at an even faster rate. This situation has serious implications for human activity along our coasts. In this book, geological and coastal engineering experts examine recent sea level trends and project changes over the next 100 years, anticipating shoreline response to changing sea level and the consequences for coastal development and uses. Scenarios for future sea level rise and several case studies are presented.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: One of 21 climate change synthesis and assessment products commissioned by the U.S. Climate Change Science Program (CCSP), this report examines the effects of sea level rise, impacts on society, and opportunities to prepare for those consequences, focusing on the eight coastal states from New York to North Carolina. Using scientific literature and policy documents, the report describes potential changes to barrier.

Book Probability of Sea Level Rise

Download or read book Probability of Sea Level Rise written by James G. Titus and published by DIANE Publishing. This book was released on 1998-02 with total page 197 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Develops probability-based projections that can be added to local tide-gauge trends to estimate future sea level at particular locations. The key coefficients in those models are based on subjective probability distributions supplied by a cross-section of climatologists, oceanographers, & glaciologists. Covers: concentrations of greenhouse gases; Greenland & Antarctic ice sheets, & small glaciers. Concludes that sea levels will rise 15 cm by the year 2050 & 34 cm by the year 2100, & a 10% chance that levels will rise 30 cm by 2050. Tables.

Download or read book Sea Surface Studies written by R. J. Devoy and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 655 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The oceans are vast with t,¥o-thirds of our planet being covered by a thick layer of water, the depth of which can be likened to flying above the earth's surface at an altitude of 30,000 feet (9,800 m). Good to play in, essential for life but deadly to breathe, water is important to all organisms on the planet, and the oceans form its major reservoir containing approximately 97 per cent of all freely available surface water. In spite of this obvious importance mankind has still much to learn about this ocean environment. Study of the oceans has grown enormously since the eighteenth- and nineteenth-century voyages of scientific discovery, expanding greatly in the period post 1945. One of the subjects that has blossomed in this period has been the study of the ocean's surface, and in particular the study of sea level and related sea-surface changes. Indeed this topic may even be termed 'popular', as reflected in the growing number of general geo morphology, physical geology and oceanography texts which now give space to the subject.
