This book was released on 2017-06-06 with total page 412 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: First published in 1891, this volume contains a treatise by Joseph. A. Seiss on "The Epistle of Paul The Apostle to the Hebrews," one of the books of the New Testament. It is generally attributed to Paul the Apostle, and scholars of Greek consider its writing to be more polished and eloquent than any other book of the New Testament. This volume will appeal to those with an interest in Christian Scripture, and it would make for a fantastic addition to allied collections. Joseph Augustus Seiss (March 18, 1823 - June 20, 1904) was an American theologian and Lutheran minister most famous for his contributions to pyramidology and dispensationalism. His best-known work is "The Great Pyramid of Egypt, Miracle in Stone: Secrets and Advanced Knowledge" (1877), considered a primary text of pyramidology. Other notable works by this author include: "The Last Times and the Great Consummation" (1856), "The Children of Silence; Or, The Story of the Deaf" (1887), and "The Letter of Jesus" (1888). Many vintage books such as this are becoming increasingly scarce and expensive. We are republishing this volume now in an affordable, modern, high-quality edition complete with the original text and artwork.

Book excerpt: Excerpt from Lectures: Introductory to the Study of the Epistles of Paul the Apostle The twelve lectures which make up the volume before the reader were delivered in London within the month of May, 1868. As presenting a sketch of the epistles of the great apostle of the Gentiles, the subject is one of the nearest interest to us of the uncircumcision who believe. But it is also definite enough to need no prefatory words, further than to say that, though I have sought diligently to correct the faults made in extemporaneous discourse, or the flaws of such as took them down in short-hand, I cannot but deeply feel how far short the result is from presenting an adequate summary of the wonderful compositions to which the lectures refer. But I reckon on, as I pray for, the grace of the Lord to bless even this resume, to such as read His word along with it, to the help of their souls. The author is silent as to his own name he begins with no greeting; he sends no special messages or salutations to individuals. His aim is to furnish an elaborate argument in favour of one definite thesis and he describes what he has written as a word of exhortation (xiii. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Lectures on the Epistle of Paul the Apostle to the Philippians: With a New Translation Thirdly. The apostle was now separated from the Church, and hence no longer able to watch over the saints personally. He writes accordingly to those who had no longer his apostolic care, not only where they had not, but, in this case, where they had bishops and deacons. Yet in the latest epistles, where the apostle is filled with the sense of his speedy departure, there is not the slightest allusion to any provision for perpetu ating these officers - not even when writing confiden tially to one whom he had called on to ordain elders in Crete, nor to another invested with a charge at Ephesus. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Excerpt from Lectures on the Epistle to the Romans, Vol. 3 There are two ways indeed, in which the hostility of the Jews, and the divine judgments consequent upon it, might be considered as somewhat more closely connected with the benefit to the Gentiles - First, the effect of their hostility and persecution was to produce the more rapid and exten sive diffusion of the Gospel among the Gentiles. By it the disciples and the teachers of Christianity were driven from Jerusalem and Judea, to scatter the seed of the word of the Lord among the surrounding peoples, and in the in stances quoted from the Acts it appears, that the very refusal of the Jews was the occasion of turning to the Gentiles. - And Secondly, it is possible that in some instances, the judicial retribution sent on the Jews, being a fulfilment of prophecy, might contribute to the conviction, and so to the further bringing in, of the Gentiles. This, however, would only be in a very limited extent indeed. About the Publisher Forgotten Books publishes hundreds of thousands of rare and classic books.
