Book Polymer Composite Materials Interface Phenomena Processes

Download or read book Polymer Composite Materials Interface Phenomena Processes written by Y. Ivanov and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2001-11-30 with total page 188 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: New technologies demand new materials. Polymer composites, with their wide range of possible fillers and polymers, open the way to an enormous range of materials with differing chemical, physical, and mechanical properties. The ultimate goal of polymer composite research is to formulate procedures that will lead to the design of composites with preset, i.e. specified, properties. Based on many years' experience in the field, the authors prepare the way towards just such a design procedure. The key element is the analysis and classification of the state of the filler-polymer interfaces from the point of view of their acid-base adsorption interactions. These interfacial phenomena play a pivotal role in determining overall properties of the composite: its rheological behaviour, its structural properties, catalytic effects in polymerization and polycondensation, and other technological characteristics. The book discusses and evaluates the extensive previous research scattered throughout the literature in Eastern Europe and the West, presents numerous experimental studies, and sets new benchmarks for the analysis of polymer composites. The book is required for researchers wanting to keep abreast of the progress in the burgeoning fields of polymer analysis and design.

Book Cycloaddition Reactions of Heterocumulenes

Download or read book Cycloaddition Reactions of Heterocumulenes written by Henri Ulrich and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2012-12-02 with total page 375 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Cycloaddition Reactions of Heterocumulenes reviews cycloaddition reactions, particularly on hetercocumulenes having "four-electron" bonds. This book discusses the chemical relationship among the various classes of heterocumulenes, including their chemical reactivity which ranges from highly reactive species to nearly inert compounds. This text also investigates the nucleophilic reactions of ketenes and isocyanates with suitable substrates, and if possible, correlates available data with the reactivity of these species in cycloaddition reactions. This book also investigates the cycloaddition reactions of carbon suboxide and other aspects of its chemistry due to the presence of many other interrelated reactions. The synthetic organic chemist should also investigate the application of isocyanate reactions associated with the cumulative double bonds. This text investigates carbodiimides as useful reagents for peptide synthesis, and notes that the stability of carbodiimides increases significantly with sterical hindrance around the cumulative double bond system. This book discusses three compounds that have a central electrophilic carbon atom, namely, carbon dioxide, carbonyl sulfide, and carbon disulfide. The book also describes the cycloaddition reactions of sulfenes, of N-sulfinylamines, of N-sulfinylsulfonamides, and of sulfurdiimides. This book can prove useful for researchers, technicians, and scientists whose works involve organic chemistry, analytical chemistry, and other related fields of chemistry.

Book Models of Biopolymers By Ring Opening Polymerization

Download or read book Models of Biopolymers By Ring Opening Polymerization written by Stanislaw Penczek and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-01-18 with total page 638 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There are a number of methods used to synthetically prepare biopolymers, their models, and bioanalogous polymers. This work approaches the syntheses of the three major groups of biopolymers existing in nature - polypeptides, polysaccharides, and nucleic and teichoic acids - by ring-opening polymerization. Until now, this method has never been reviewed uniformly for these three groups. The majority of models prepared by ring-opening polymerization can not reach the complexity of the actual biological molecules. However, a better understanding of these biopolymers will aid in the use of such molecules in several fields of application in research and other high technologies, where they mimic functions of related biopolymers in living organisms.

Book Principles of Peptide Synthesis

Download or read book Principles of Peptide Synthesis written by M. Bodanszky and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 320 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A look at the shelves of a major library awakens doubts in the author of this small volume about the importance of writing a new introduction to peptide synthesis. This rather narrow area of bio-organic chemistry already has received considerable attention. A whole series of books deals with the synthesis of peptides. Some of these are textbooks written to support lecture courses on peptide synthesis. Others try to help the beginner, otherwise well versed in organic chemistry, to embark on some experimental project that requires the construction of peptide chains. Not less useful are the monographs which were compiled to aid the adept practitioner and to provide him with references to the growing literature of a very active field. Is there any need for a new book on peptide synthesis? Should we add a new volume to an already impressive and certainly useful series? The answer is not obvious. The author has already participated in two similar en deavors. The first edition! of "Peptide Synthesis", with M. A. Ondetti as coauthor, was meant to serve as an introduction for the beginner. It was rather well received by researchers who joined the field of peptide chemistry and were looking for initiation. While working on the 2 second edition with Drs. Klausner and Ondetti, we became painfully aware of the impossibility of the task.
