Book Politiques publiques d am nagement touristique

Download or read book Politiques publiques d am nagement touristique written by Vincent Vlès and published by Presses Univ de Bordeaux. This book was released on 2006 with total page 490 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book Le touriste et l habitant written by Dominique Crozat and published by Editions Publibook. This book was released on 2018 with total page 296 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Tourism Public Policy and the Strategic Management of Failure

Download or read book Tourism Public Policy and the Strategic Management of Failure written by William Revill Kerr and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2003-09-04 with total page 313 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: First Published in 2003. The development of tourism and tourism public policy, and the strategic management of failure of tourism to realize its commercial potential are all considered in this book. The particular salience of this research lies in the fact that it has been conducted during an interesting (politically) and volatile (globally) period for the world's tourism industry. Increasing competition, economic, and environmental issues combined with the continued threat of terrorism, and instability in the Middle East, necessitated governments assessing and redefining their tourism public policies. How they approached this in the late nineties and new Millennium is reflected in the first part of the book. The second part focuses on Scotland whose tourism public policy issues in the late nineties were focused, concentrated, and mutated by globalization, political devolution, and the restoration of the Scottish Parliament in 1999. In consequence tourism and economic development powers were devolved to Edinburgh from Westminster. However, other powers such as fiscal and employment policies which impacted greatly on tourism were reserved to Westminster, a complex situation which the book has also set out to explain, as it does the Scottish Parliament's inability to influence such powers. During the lifetime of the first parliament in almost three hundred years, Scottish tourism was confronted by significant challenges e.g., the foot and mouth epidemic, the terrorist atrocities in the USA, Indonesia, and Kenya, the combination of which for a short but crucial period virtually decimated North American tourism trade to Europe, and of course recession.

Book Tourism in the City

Download or read book Tourism in the City written by Nicola Bellini and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-08-29 with total page 344 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book critically explores the interconnections between tourism and the contemporary city from a policy-oriented standpoint, combining tourism perspectives with discussion of urban models, issues, and challenges. Research-based analyses addressing managerial issues and evaluating policy implications are described, and a comprehensive set of case studies is presented to demonstrate practices and policies in various urban contexts. A key message is that tourism policies should be conceived as integrated urban policies that promote tourism performance as a means of fostering urban quality and the well-being of local communities, e.g., in terms of quality spaces, employment, accessibility, innovation, and learning opportunities. In addition to highlighting the significance of urban tourism in relation to key urban challenges, the book reflects on the risks and tensions associated with its development, including the rise of anti-tourism movements as a reaction to touristification, cultural commodification, and gentrification. Attention is drawn to asymmetries in the costs and benefits of the city tourism phenomenon, and the supposedly unavoidable trade-off between the interests of residents and tourists is critically questioned.

Download or read book Le tourisme un domaine de comp tence partag written by Nathalie Fabry and published by Editions L'Harmattan. This book was released on 2018-04-10 with total page 254 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Tourism and the Millennium Development Goals

Download or read book Tourism and the Millennium Development Goals written by Jarkko Saarinen and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2013-10-31 with total page 327 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In 2000 United Nations adopted the Millennium Development Goals (UN MDGs), committing the member nations to a new global partnership to reduce extreme poverty and setting out a series of specific targets with a deadline of 2015. Related to the UN MDGs, tourism is increasingly seen as a promising tool for poverty reduction, ensuring environmental sustainability and developing a global partnership for development, for example. Thus, the industry has become an important policy tool for community and regional development in many developing countries and the expectations for tourism and its social and economic outcomes have evolved to a high level. However, there are still many challenges to overcome in the relationship between tourism industry, development and poverty reduction. This book aims to discuss the promises, challenges and outcomes of tourism in development with a specific aim of drawing together research related to tourism and UN MDGs. The papers discuss what lessons can be learnt and conclusions drawn from the utilisation of tourism for development and poverty reduction. What emerges from this collection is a set of interesting results and notions which both support and challenge the connections between tourism and development and the new role of tourism in global development. This book is an extended version of a special issue published in Current Issues in Tourism.

Book International Tourism Development and the Gulf Cooperation Council States

Download or read book International Tourism Development and the Gulf Cooperation Council States written by Marcus L. Stephenson and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2017-07-14 with total page 307 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book examines the challenges facing the development of tourism in the six member states of the Gulf Cooperation Council (GCC): Bahrain, Kuwait, Oman, Qatar, Saudi Arabia and the United Arab Emirates (UAE). This region, which largely comprises the Arabian Peninsula, possesses some of the fastest growing economies in the world and is remarkably unique. It shares similar associations and affinities: tribal histories, royal kinship, political associations, Bedu cultural roots, Islamic heritage, rapid urbanization, oil wealth, rentier dynamics, state capitalist structures, migrant labour, economic diversification policies and institutional restructuring. Therefore, this volume takes the study of tourism away from its normative unit of analysis, where tourism in the region is being examined within the context of the Middle East and the wider Islamic and Arab world, towards an enquiry focusing on a specific geo-political territory and socially defined region. Although international tourism development in the region embodies a range of challenges, complexities and conflicts, which are deeply contextualized in this volume, the approach overall does not endorse the normative ‘Gulf bashing’ position that has predominated within the critical enquiries in the region. It presents a forward-looking and realistic assessment of international tourism development, examining development potentialities and constructive ways forward for GCC states and the region as a whole. This edited volume provides a real attempt to examine critically ways in which tourism and its development intersect with the socio-cultural, economic, political, environmental and industrial change that is taking place in the region. By doing so, the book provides a theoretically engaged analysis of the social transformations and discourses that shape our contemporary understanding of tourism development within the GCC region. Moreover, it deciphers tourism development’s role within the context of the GCC states undergoing rapid transformation, urbanization, ultra-modernization, internationalization and globalization. In addition to state-specific illustrations and destination case studies, the work provides insights into relatable themes associated with international tourism development in the region, such as tourism’s relationship with religion, heritage and identity, the environment and sustainability, mobility and cross-border movements, the transport industry, image production and destination branding, mega-development and political stability and instability. The book combines theory with diverse case study illustrations, drawing on disciplinary knowledge from such fields as sociology, political economy and social geography. This timely and original contribution is essential reading for students, researchers and academics in the field of tourism studies and related subject areas, along with those who have regional interests in Middle East studies, including Gulf and Arabian Peninsula studies.

Book Organismes de gestion de destination

Download or read book Organismes de gestion de destination written by Laurent Botti and published by Grale. This book was released on 2021 with total page 389 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.
