Book excerpt: A poetry collection that both illustrates what mindfulness is and encourages young, growing minds to be present, from poet and educator Georgia Heard, with art by Isabel Roxas. Poets have long observed the world in a mindful way. They point out beauty we might have missed, draw our attention to our inner thoughts, and call us to see our society in new ways. But as daily life become more and more chaotic, children grow distracted. According to the CDC, 9.4% of children have ADHD and 7% have anxiety/depression. And these numbers continue to climb. As treatment doctors recommend healthy eating, physical activity, plenty of sleep, and mindfulness techniques. Georgia Heard is a poet and educator—and she has long had her own meditation practice. In My Thoughts Are Clouds, she uses poetry to demonstrate what mindfulness is and gives kids—and their parents and teachers—accessible ways to learn mindfulness tools.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: It is my first love of creativity within my mind. My family entertained themselves in many ways every Sunday afternoon. When I was young, we regularly had competitions between the five of us. All had talent by singing, dancing and recitals of plays or poetry. I myself followed Shakespeare sonnets, and a wide range of stage plays by the great writer. So being who I am, over the years of my life, I wrote down the moments that I found amusing. To my surprise, I found over one hundred old notebooks I have written my first book, which I named Dragon Eye Chronicles. It gave me the confidence to select two hundred poems for your entertainment. Of course, I rewrote and updated them to fit today's style of society that we all choose to follow or protest for a better life. I split up the book in six volumes that cover a wide range of material. Each section covers a certain period in my life, growing up from a child, teenager, and adult, finding love and losing one's self with the outside influences Please enjoy with a little soft music, red wine and candle light to capture the small love poems that I wrote in my youth. I hope you enjoy them.

This book depicts a young man who somehow became wayward in his conduct and behavior and landed in some form of serious detention more than one time during his youth. “The Biography of a Mental Muscle” is truly about how important using your brain is in making decisions that not only affect you but those around you, as Cornell learned through his stint in jail in which he left behind his wife and kids. While there he sought a higher power and found one that turned his life around. Throughout the book you can feel his ups and downs and read what made him continue on and to continue to grow as a man today; the biggest down was his wife’s illness while he was jail; his biggest high was writing this book. His story is not unlike many hard knock stories, but the significance of Evans’ life is about being strong enough to use your “Mental Muscle” to fight to make the right decisions in your life so that you can get back up when knocked down, like he did.

The importance of finding your talents and interests and pursuing them. 2. Learning to see life with a renewed interest and wonder. 3. Celebrating love and acknowledging the feelings of one's first teenage 'crush.' 4. How to utilize perspective to see any situation as you wish. 5. The importance of having fun and being a bit silly at times. This is reflected in a 'nonsense' poem I included. 6. The big question of death is dealt with; the book teaches that without death there is no life, and that we are all part of one big ecosystem, and so, it is what it is and we must go on--hopefully, with a smile.

After years of suffering and multiple surgeries, Mr. Wolf learns he is the laughing stock of the town. How to rectify this situation is upper most in his mind. Should he leave town and relocate else where or should he go to trial? After conferring with his family Mr. Wolf hires a lawyer and sues the pig brothers for damages. This story is told in present tense. The courtroom is crowded with various Rhyme-Ville characters and a court reporter has been hired to follow the story to its conclusion. The Trial of the Big 'Bad' Wolf is written to give the reader a different version of what was read so long ago. Since the Three Pigs have had their day, the Wolf feels compelled to tell his side of the story. By bringing charges against the pig brothers, Mr. Wolf feels he can now be exonerated. This delightful story awakens many of the old characters found in the older version of Tales and Rhymes and give them an opportunity to speak. Although this book is designed for children, it should also be a delight to the adults. The Trial of the Big 'Bad' Wolf is entertaining, it is filled with messages which parents may choose to explore. Elvera believe it is never to early to teach a child the difference between acceptable and non-acceptable behavior and it's biblical references will give the adult reader a way to transition from book to Bible.
