Book Poems and Songs of the Presidents of the 20th Century

Download or read book Poems and Songs of the Presidents of the 20th Century written by John Kermit Kerr and published by Page Publishing Inc. This book was released on 2016-06-09 with total page 460 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Three men served the eighteen U.S. Presidents of the 20th Century from William McKinley through William Clinton. The first of these men worked for six presidents (McKinley, T. Roosevelt, Taft, Wilson, Harding and Coolidge). His son replaced him and worked for the next six presidents (Hoover, F. Roosevelt, Truman, Eisenhower, Kennedy and Johnson). His grandson then worked for the last six presidents of the 20th Century (Nixon, Ford, Carter, Reagan, Bush, and Clinton). Three generations lived through the century and while serving the presidents in background roles collected poems and songs written to or by the presidents. These different poetic forms cover successes and failures and recount tragedies and simple pleasures. Combined with paintings by Bruce Johnston, the poems bring life to the presidents which led the country.

Book Voices of Leadership

Download or read book Voices of Leadership written by Joel Hawksley and published by . This book was released on 2024-07-30 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: "Voices of Leadership: Poems Inspired By US Presidents" From the foundational whispers of Washington to the resounding declarations of modern leaders, this collection breathes new life into the words of America's presidents. For centuries, the voices of our nation's leaders have guided, inspired, and shaped the course of history. Like beacons of light, their quotes offer wisdom and insight that transcend their time. Yet, sometimes, these historical gems can feel distant and untouchable. This book endeavors to capture the vibrancy and warmth of these timeless quotes by transforming them into the expressive language of poetry. Each poem acts as a brushstroke, delicately illuminating the essence of the original quote. It's not about replacing their words but revealing their hidden depths and emotions. Imagine Abraham Lincoln's powerful reflections transformed into poignant verses of unity or John F. Kennedy's stirring call to purpose blossoming into a narrative of inspiration. This book invites you to experience these quotes anew, not just with your intellect but with your heart. While I may not claim the title of a poet, I hope these humble creations spark a connection with the wisdom and strength embedded within our presidential legacy. Whether you're a seasoned reader of poetry or someone who appreciates the power of words, I invite you to delve into this collection and let the verses sing their unique song. From the quiet resolve found in early leadership to the bold visions of the modern era, these poems celebrate the resilience, courage, and determination that define the American spirit. May they inspire you to embrace your path with renewed determination and hope.

Book excerpt: Every four years, our Constitution specifies we vote to elect a person to serve as President of the United States, to serve as the head of state and government. The position calls for a person with high ideals and intellect to be a statesman and leader for the nation and the world. The process has evolved into an arduous affair in need of simplification. Forty-two individuals have answered the call to serve, and some achieved what the job calls for. Sonnets for the Presidents attempts to capture the essence of those who have served, in poetic form, in hopes that some paths for greatness can be identified and inspired.

Download or read book The Correspondence of Washington Allston written by Nathalia Wright and published by University Press of Kentucky. This book was released on 2014-07-15 with total page 712 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Washington Allston (1779-1843), the first major American artist trained in Europe, produced important paintings, explored sculpture and architecture, and published poetry and art criticism. On his return to America he became influential in the cultural and intellectual life of New England. Allston "knew everyone" and corresponded with many of the leading figures of his day, including Wordsworth, Longfellow, Irving, Sully, and Morse.Nathalia Wright's edition is the most comprehensive work to date on Allston, bringing together all known letters by and to him and describing his principal activities in years for which correspondence is lacking. Allston holds an important place in the history of American culture and European art and has long deserved such a volume, which offers a fascinating view of the world of arts and letters during the early American flowering.
