Download or read book R Os de Amor y Cuentos Contados Por ni Os y No Tan ni Os Ellos Tambi N Tienen Algo Que Contar written by Lourdes Karely Pérez Vargas and published by Palibrio. This book was released on 2012-11 with total page 169 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Jai Kai De Olgiate Olona Hai Kai Da Olgiate Olona

Download or read book Jai Kai De Olgiate Olona Hai Kai Da Olgiate Olona written by Ángel M. Aguirre and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2008-07-09 with total page 137 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Book Multilingual Literature as World Literature

Download or read book Multilingual Literature as World Literature written by Jane Hiddleston and published by Bloomsbury Publishing USA. This book was released on 2021-05-06 with total page 328 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Multilingual Literature as World Literature examines and adjusts current theories and practices of world literature, particularly the conceptions of world, global and local, reflecting on the ways that multilingualism opens up the borders of language, nation and genre, and makes visible different modes of circulation across languages, nations, media and cultures. The contributors to Multilingual Literature as World Literature examine four major areas of critical research. First, by looking at how engaging with multilingualism as a mode of reading makes visible the multiple pathways of circulation, including as aesthetics or poetics emerging in the literary world when languages come into contact with each other. Second, by exploring how politics and ethics contribute to shaping multilingual texts at a particular time and place, with a focus on the local as a site for the interrogation of global concerns and a call for diversity. Third, by engaging with translation and untranslatability in order to consider the ways in which ideas and concepts elude capture in one language but must be read comparatively across multiple languages. And finally, by proposing a new vision for linguistic creativity beyond the binary structure of monolingualism versus multilingualism.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Phenomena such as the Covid-19 pandemic, climate change, or the surge of political populism show that the current phase of accelerated globalization is over.

Download or read book La prisi n y las instituciones punitivas en la investigaci n hist rica written by Pedro Oliver Olmo and published by Universidad de Castilla La Mancha. This book was released on 2014-09-23 with total page 922 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Social History of Punitive Institutions in Spain needs meetings and discussions, comparison and collaboration between researchers. Only then it will become visible and intelligible as a historiographical trend and, above all, as a theoretical-methodological hope, because in fact, now it is more than conceivable as a historiographical practice. Here in this book are outlined, along with the achievements, the shortcomings and the most pressing challenges. Far from seeking an extemporaneous autonomy, Social History of Punitive Institutions wants to try to find its own feasibility based on intersections and good mixings. Those objectives were considered by the Study Group about History of Prison and Punitive Institutions (Grupo de Estudio sobre la Historia de la Prisión y las Instituciones Punitivas, GEHPIP) –an interuniversity team and with central office at Universidad de Castilla-La Mancha (UCLM)– when organising what it decided to name in an homonymous way 1st International Congress on History of Prison and Punitive Institutions (I Congreso Internacional sobre Historia de la Prisión y las Instituciones Punitivas), held in Ciudad Real (Spain) from 10 to 12 April 2013. The electronic book here presented is a good example of what it was told and discussed there.

Book World Literature Cosmopolitanism Globality

Download or read book World Literature Cosmopolitanism Globality written by Gesine Müller and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2019-10-21 with total page 356 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From today’s vantage point it can be denied that the confidence in the abilities of globalism, mobility, and cosmopolitanism to illuminate cultural signification processes of our time has been severely shaken. In the face of this crisis, a key concept of this globalizing optimism as World Literature has been for the past twenty years necessarily is in the need of a comprehensive revision. World Literature, Cosmopolitanism, Globality: Beyond, Against, Post, Otherwise offers a wide range of contributions approaching the blind spots of the globally oriented Humanities for phenomena that in one way or another have gone beyond the discourses, aesthetics, and political positions of liberal cosmopolitanism and neoliberal globalization. Departing basically (but not exclusively) from different examples of Latin American literatures and cultures in globalized contexts, this volume provides innovative insights into critical readings of World Literature and its related conceptualizations. A timely book that embraces highly innovative perspectives, it will be a mustread for all scholars involved in the field of the global dimensions of literature.

Book Prost bulo de la Palabra

  • Author : Benito Pastoriza Iyodo
  • Publisher : Xlibris Corporation
  • Release : 2012-05-07
  • ISBN : 1469127199
  • Pages : 173 pages

Download or read book Prost bulo de la Palabra written by Benito Pastoriza Iyodo and published by Xlibris Corporation. This book was released on 2012-05-07 with total page 173 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Prostíbulo de la palabra is Benito Pastoriza Iyodo’s fourth collection of poetry. The first edition of the book is accompanied by its English translation: Brothel of the Word. This bilingual volume exposes the reader to a work diverse in themes, structure and format. The book is a collection that encapsulates the people, places, beliefs and actions implicit in the concepts presented in the operative terms “brothel” and “word” in their physical, linguistic and spiritual incarnations. The title engenders curiosity about how the poet will interconnect these two concepts. A brothel is generally associated with prostitution. But knowing that the term “prostitution” can go beyond the world associated with the sexual act, it should be no surprise that the poetic subject moves from the confines of a building (the brothel) to the environs where prostitution manifests itself in the impure and many times masked manipulation of language and mankind within a broader, more global brothel. The dialog between the poems transforms into a conversation among the reader, the poetry and the poet in the physical, linguistic, spiritual and philosophic debates that affect humanity.

Book Otherness in Hispanic Culture

Download or read book Otherness in Hispanic Culture written by Teresa Fernandez Ulloa and published by Cambridge Scholars Publishing. This book was released on 2014-06-26 with total page 615 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book addresses contemporary discourses on a wide variety of topics related to the ideological and epistemological changes of the 19th, 20th and 21st centuries, and the ways in which they have shaped the Spanish language and cultural manifestations in both Spain and Hispanic America. The majority of the chapters are concerned with ‘otherness’ in its various dimensions; the alien Other – foreign, immigrant, ethnically different, disempowered, female or minor – as well as the Other of different sexual orientation and/or ideology. Following Octavio Paz, otherness is expressed as the attempt to find the lost object of desire, the frustrating endeavour of the androgynous Plato wishing to embrace the other half of Zeus, who in his wrath, tore off from him. Otherness compels human beings to search for the complement from which they were severed. Thus a male joins a female, his other half, the only half that not only fills him but which allows him to return to the unity and reconciliation which is restored in its own perfection, formerly altered by divine will. As a result of this transformation, one can annul the distance that keeps us away from that which, not being our own, turns into a source of anguish. The clashing diversity of all things requires the human predisposition to accept that which is different. Such a predisposition is an expression of epistemological, ethical and political aperture. The disposition to co-exist with the different is imagined in the de-anthropocentricization of the bonds with all living realms. And otherness is, in some way, the reflection of sameness (mismidad). The other is closely related to the self, because the vision of the other implies a reflection about the self; it implies, consciously or not, a relationship with the self. These topics are addressed in this book from an interdisciplinary perspective, encompassing arts, humanities and social sciences.

Download or read book To the North Al norte written by Leon Salvatierra and published by University of Nevada Press. This book was released on 2022-11-08 with total page 161 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The University of Nevada Press is pleased to publish its first dual-language (Spanish-English) book of poetry, To the North/Al norte: Poems, by the Nicaraguan poet León Salvatierra. The work is rooted in the Central American diaspora that emerged from the civil wars in the 1980s. The poems are tied together through the experiences, memories, visions, and dreams of a 15-yearold boy who embarked on a journey to the United States with a group of forty other migrants from Central America. After being undocumented for eleven years, Salvatierra established himself in the United States, first becoming a naturalized citizen and then obtaining a university education. Salvatierra mixes lyrical and prose poems to explore the experience of exile in a new country. His powerful metaphors and fresh images inhabit spaces fraught with the violence, anxiety, and vulnerability that undocumented Central American migrants commonly face in their transnational journeys. His vivid memories of Nicaragua tie the personal experiences of his poetic subjects to the geopolitical history between the Central American region and the United States.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

Download or read book A Blind Salmon written by Julia Wong Kcomt and published by Deep Vellum Publishing. This book was released on 2024-07-02 with total page 129 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A Blind Salmon engages in Julia Wong Kcomt's characteristically unflinching plumbing of the human body and traces fanged emotions with sticky precision, exploring mothering, multilinguality, and madness. Tusán writer Julia Wong Kcomt’s sixth collection of poetry, A Blind Salmon is her first full-length collection available in English. Written while she was living in Buenos Aires, the collection crosses borders between Berlin, Buenos Aires, Chepén, Tijuana, and Vienna. It takes up sameness and difference, shot through with desert sand. In these poems, Wong Kcomt renders homage to writers such as the Peruvian poet and visual artist Jorge Eduardo Eielson, who died in Milan as she was writing them. She fingers the filmy line between poetry and narrative prose to build a lyrical menagerie all her own.
