Book PNEUMA HAGION A Special Study in Holy Spirit

Download or read book PNEUMA HAGION A Special Study in Holy Spirit written by Victor P Wierwille and published by . This book was released on 2019-12-24 with total page 182 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: But the hour cometh, and now is, when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit and in truth: for the Father seeketh such to worship him. God is a Spirit: and they that worship him must worship him in spirit and in truth.Jesus Christ said, "Ye worship ye know not what." I believe that is true for most people. Everybody worships. The question is: Are we worshipping rightly? Do we know what, how, or why we worship?Jesus Christ said, about worship, that "the hour cometh ...when the true worshippers shall worship the Father in spirit [the word 'in' is the same Greek word translated 'by'; 'by spirit'] and in truth." Worship the Father how? You shall worship Him not by candles, not by altars, not by Bible reading, not by singing, but by the spirit. "In spirit and in truth" is the figure of speech hendiadys: two nouns used but one thing meant. "Spirit" is a noun and "truth" is a noun, the double noun being used to doubly emphasize that it is spiritually true, or truly spiritual. The Father seeks a true worshipper to worship thus-in spirit and in truth. If we can find out what it is to worship God by the spirit, we know how to truly worship. The question is not what anybody thinks, but what does the Word say? There have been so many ideas brought to Christianity that it is often difficult for even Biblical scholars to distinguish between that which is genuine and that which is counterfeit. In other words, it is hard to separate that which is truly Christianity from that which is religion. Religion is what man has introduced. There is much religion in so-called Christianity, but true Christianity does not have one ounce of religion in it. Unless you know the difference between religion and Christianity, you will become very confused. Christianity, in a nutshell, is what God wrought in Christ. Christianity is Christ in you, the hope of glory. The Bible teaches that God is Spirit and we are to worship Him in spirit and in truth. Jesus declared this truth when he spoke to the Samaritan woman. In John 4:20 the woman said to Jesus, "Our fathers worshipped in this mountain; and ye say, that in Jerusalem is the place where men ought to worship." Jesus replied in verse 21, "Woman, believe me, the hour cometh, when ye shall neither in this mountain, nor yet at Jerusalem, worship the Father." How then shall He be worshipped?- Philippians 3:3 For we are the circumcision, which worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus, and have no confidence in the flesh. This is true worship. The called of God are those who "worship God in the spirit, and rejoice in Christ Jesus." We rejoice in Christ Jesus, not in Jesus Christ. There is a great difference. We do not rejoice in the humiliated one, Jesus, but in the glorified Christ. Our rejoicing, our worshipping is in the resurrected Christ. Our rejoicing is not in that Jesus who was spit on or slapped or persecuted or derided. We rejoice that be was more than a conqueror, that be overcame and ascended up into heaven, that he is seated at the right hand of God, and that on the day of Pentecost he sent "forth this, which ye now see and bear," as stated in Acts 2:33. Rejoice in Christ Jesus, the humiliated one who has been resurrected and has ascended into glory. To worship is to rejoice in Christ Jesus for what he did, not what we do, because the flesh is weak. Do not judge men by the flesh. Have no confidence, trust, reliance, nor believing in the flesh. The flesh is so weak that John 6:63 says that "the flesh profiteth nothing." When we have confidence in the flesh, we must assess one man to be better than another on the basis of appearance. Yet, if men are born again of God's Spirit, whose children are they? God's! In God's sight they are equally precious. There are many things going on under the guise of Christianity which are nothing more than having "confidence in the flesh." But we truly have our confidence in what God wrought in Christ Jesus.

Book A Prologue to Studies in the Fourth Gospel

This book was released on 2021-05-25 with total page 396 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The Fourth Gospel both blesses and betrays. It blesses readers who engage with its message, but it may betray those who read it nonchalantly. The notion that the Fourth Gospel is easy to understand is an enduring myth. This volume takes readers on a heuristic journey to discover the Fourth Gospel’s unique theological aspects, problematic historical matters, inimitable literary features, and various interpretive approaches using an accessible format and easy-to-read language. The purpose of this publication is to enable readers to appreciate the Fourth Gospel’s wide horizon, so necessary to understand its narratives in their historical and narrative contexts. Like the prologue of the Fourth Gospel that introduces and gives perspective on how readers should approach the rest of the Gospel, similarly, this volume introduces and gives perspective to studies in the Fourth Gospel. The text is divided into three parts, which examine its independent theology and argumentation, various outstanding issues, and its interpretation respectively. This volume is suitable for a wide readership, from Bible study groups to pastors and from undergraduate to graduate students.

Book excerpt: In this book I consider and submit for consideration the evidence of archaeology, antiquity, manuscripts, prophecy and personal experience. Since the Bible is the true Word of God, can we afford to ignore or neglect its message? When Christ, our Lord, came to this earth, He chose twelve ordinary working men rather than learned rabbis, to teach them about Himself and His kingdom. It is an underlying tenet that the Christian faith is revealed by God alone and no individual by the power of human reasoning or wisdom can arrive at the truth. Man’s wisdom by nature is at variance with God’s wisdom and therefore man needs to come in humility to learn and to receive forgiveness that He offers to all who come to Him. God has revealed to us in His Word all that we need to know and live by in order to be acceptable to our Sovereign God and to grow in our knowledge and understanding of Him. Above all we need faith, the enlightening Holy Spirit of God and the power of God’s Word to change human lives and beliefs.

Book The Holy Spirit of Communion

Download or read book The Holy Spirit of Communion written by Marek Jagodziński and published by Vandenhoeck & Ruprecht. This book was released on 2023-08-14 with total page 351 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Communion is a dynamic reality – love, unity of life, mutual penetration, the closest union. The Holy Spirit is the Communion within the Trinity and forms the communion between God, man and the world, between people, in the Church and within whole reality of this world. Showing pneumatology as a dimension of the entire dogmatic theology determines the originality of this monograph. Typically, theologians focused their works on pneumatology itself. Marek Jagodziński's monograph is especially up to date since the pentecostal awakening in Christianity carries certain dangers. They take the forms of over-exposing the Holy Spirit at the expense of the Son of God, overly simplified ecumenism, emphasising charisms over the institution and putting personal experience over the community faith of the Church. The study is not only a presentation of ideas but brings new and inspiring elements to the scientific discussion. It is an original and creative contribution to the theoretical achievements of theology as a discipline of science. The dissertation brings a new name for the Third Divine Person – Communion in the Holy Trinity. Communion reflects the mission of the Holy Spirit which embraces the Church and the sacraments, voices a golden mean between forgetting about the Holy Spirit and the Joachimism of proclaiming the era of the Holy Spirit. The monograph justifies the simultaneous existence of Christology and pneumatology, brings a new perspective on Filioque and is of significance for ecumenism.

Download or read book The Presence and The Power written by Gerald F. Hawthorne and published by Wipf and Stock Publishers. This book was released on 2003-02-20 with total page 277 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: We cannot escape the truth, writes Gerald Hawthorne, that Jesus was completely "one of us." Yet Jesus taught with amazing authority, spoke God's word with extraordinary power, healed people who were sick, raised people who were dead, opened the eyes of the blind and did other miraculous things seemingly beyond the ability of humans."How?" Hawthorne asks."Was it by means of his divine nature that he did all this, for certainly he was fully God as well as fully human?" "No," is his resounding answer. Through a careful study of the New Testament, Dr. Hawthorne argues that Jesus did not act from the prerogatives of one who shared the nature of God. Rather, he did what he did through the Holy Spirit, upon whom he depended for power and authority. Essential to this view is the affirmation that Jesus was indeed fully human. In the pages of The Presence and the Power, the author shows the role of the Spirit in Jesus' conception and birth, in his boyhood and youth, in his baptism and temptation and ministry, and in his death and resurrection. Hawthorne brings his discussion to a dimax by setting forth his own understanding of the mystery of the interworking of the human and divine in Jesus. This all serves to usher the reader into the final chapter, role of the Holy Spirit in the life of the believer. This conduding chapter makes the truths of the book very clear as to their life-application for any and all of Jesus' followers.
