Book Current Trends in Organic Synthesis

Download or read book Current Trends in Organic Synthesis written by Carlo Scolastico and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 367 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The last two decades have seen a rapid growth in the synthetic processing of both simple and complex molecules, aimed at meeting the needs of society in all aspects of life. Many efforts have been devoted to the development of new biologically active compounds, new materials with innovative properties such as bio-compatibility, new catalysts that allow highly selective transformations, and technologies that facilitate the synthetic pro cesses. This book is a compendium of recent progress in all these aspects of synthetic chemistry. It collects the lectures of the XII International Conference on Organic Synthesis, held in Venice from June 28 to July 2, 1998, in which the present state of art of this discipline has been reported. The topics covered include: combinatorial chemistry, new synthetic methods, stereo selective synthesis, metal-mediated synthesis, and target oriented synthesis. The book collects the contributions, in the mentioned topics, of 43 scientists from 19 different countries. The contributions presented in the Conference as plenary lectures are reported in the first section of the book. Particular attention has been dedicated to combinatorial chemistry, a new and promising methodology for the synthesis of libraries of pharmaco logically interesting compounds in order to allow the automatic pharmacological screening of thousands of compounds. The Conference has dedicated to combinatorial chemistry a mini-symposium in which scientists from academy and companies have described the current trends of this very new technology.

Book Macromolecular Chemistry 11

Download or read book Macromolecular Chemistry 11 written by H. Eisenberg and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 170 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Macromolecular Chemistry — 11 is a collection of lectures presented at the International Symposium on Macromolecules (The Third Aharon Katzir-Katchalsky Conference) held in Jerusalem, Israel, on July 13-18, 1975. The papers explore a wide range of topics related to macromolecular chemistry, including polyelectrolytes, biologically active synthetic polymers, and spans of polymer chains. The use of polymers as chemical reagents is also considered. This book is comprised of 19 chapters and begins with an introduction to the close relation between polyelectrolytes and hydrophilic colloids. A survey of polyelectrolyte knowledge that has accumulated since about 1940 is also presented. The discussion then turns to biologically active synthetic polymers; polymers and other composites; theories of the condensed polymer state; polymer adsorption inferred from electrical double layer measurements; and mobility and conductivity of ions in and into polymeric solids. The structure and viscoelastic properties of ion-containing polymers in the solid state are also examined, along with the use of graphite insertion compounds as chemical reagents in organic chemistry. The results of research on chemical modification of cellulose are also presented. This monograph will be of interest to chemists.

Book Organometallic Chemistry

Download or read book Organometallic Chemistry written by Y. Ishii and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2017-01-31 with total page 137 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Organometallic Chemistry — 8 focuses on the compositions, reactions, properties, and transformations of molecules, silicon carbon, molybdenum and tungsten compounds, palladium, and platinum. The selection first offers information on the theoretical aspects of the coordination of molecules to transition metal centers and generation and reactions of silicon-carbon double-bonded intermediates. Discussions focus on photolysis of naphthyldisilanes, alkenyldisilanes, phenylacetylene, and benzenoid aromatic derivatives of disilane. The book also considers classical and novel ylide systems in organometallic chemistry, including phosphorinanium and phospholanium ylides and organometallic compounds of double ylides. The text evaluates studies on the synthesis, mechanism, and reactivity of organo-molybdenum and tungsten compounds and enantioselective reactions through chiral metal-carbene intermediates. The manuscript also ponders on the synthesis and reactivity of carbon-bonded transition elements; neutron diffraction studies on transition metal hydride complexes; and applications of palladium in organic syntheses. The selection is an impressive reference for readers and chemists interested in organometallic chemistry.

Book Coordination Chemistry XIV

Download or read book Coordination Chemistry XIV written by A. B. P. Lever and published by Elsevier. This book was released on 2013-10-22 with total page 206 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Coordination Chemistry–XIV provides information pertinent to the fundamental characteristics and synthesis of coordination compounds. This book discusses the importance of undertaking accurate X-ray analysis of a wide-ranging series of complexes in order to derive more secure theoretical correlations. Organized into 13 chapters, this book begins with an overview of the properties of alkyl and aryl derivatives of transition elements. This text then describes the two methods that lead to transition metal complexes of carborane ligands, namely, polyhedral expansion and polyhedral contraction. Other chapters consider the argument that organo-transition metal complexes also consisting phosphines and similar ligands are often too kinetically inert to act as good models for catalytic processes. This book discusses as well the developments in the mechanisms of substitution in transition metal complexes. The final chapter deals with the calibration of low resolution spectrometers. This book is a valuable resource for chemists, organometallic chemists, and inorganic chemists.

Book Organometallic Chemistry

Download or read book Organometallic Chemistry written by Edward W. Abel and published by Royal Society of Chemistry. This book was released on 1972 with total page 538 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Annotation. Organometallic chemistry is an interdisciplinary science which continues to grow at a rapid pace. Although there is continued interest in synthetic and structural studies the last decade has seen a growing interest in the potential of organometallic chemistry to provide answers to problems in catalysis synthetic organic chemistry and also in the development of new materials. This Specialist Periodical Report aims to reflect these current interests reviewing progress in theoretical organometallic chemistry, main group chemistry, the lanthanides and all aspects of transition metal chemistry. Specialist Periodical Reports provide systematic and detailed review coverage of progress in the major areas of chemical research. Written by experts in their specialist fields the series creates a unique service for the active research chemist, supplying regular critical in-depth accounts of progress in particular areas of chemistry. For over 80 years the Royal Society of Chemistry and its predecessor, the Chemical Society, have been publishing reports charting developments in chemistry, which originally took the form of Annual Reports. However, by 1967 the whole spectrum of chemistry could no longer be contained within one volume and the series Specialist Periodical Reports was born. The Annual Reports themselves still existed but were divided into two, and subsequently three, volumes covering Inorganic, Organic and Physical Chemistry. For more general coverage of the highlights in chemistry they remain a 'must'. Since that time the SPR series has altered according to the fluctuating degree of activity in various fields of chemistry. Some titles have remained unchanged, while others have altered their emphasis along with their titles; some have been combined under a new name whereas others have had to be discontinued. The current list of Specialist Periodical Reports can be seen on the inside flap of this volume.
