Book Planing of Watercraft

Download or read book Planing of Watercraft written by Herbert Wagner and published by . This book was released on 1948 with total page 572 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The present report deals with the processes accompanying the planing of a planing boat or a seaplane on water . The study is largely based upon theoretical investigations; mathematical problems and proofs are not discussed. To analyze theoreticaly actual planing processes, giving due consideration to all aspects of the problem, is probably not possible. The theories therefore treat various simple limiting cases, which in their entirety give a picture of the planing processes and enable the interpretation of the experimental results. The discussion is concerned with the stationary planing attitude: the boat planes at a constant speed V on an originally smooth surface.

Book Hydrodynamics of Planing Monohull Watercraft

Download or read book Hydrodynamics of Planing Monohull Watercraft written by William S. Vorus and published by Springer. This book was released on 2016-08-26 with total page 111 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book addresses the principles involved in the design and engineering of planing monohull power boats, with an emphasis on the theoretical fundamentals that readers need in order to be fully functional in marine design and engineering. Author William Vorus focuses on three topics: boat resistance, seaway response, and propulsion and explains the physical principles, mathematical details, and theoretical details that support physical understanding. In particular, he explains the approximations and simplifications in mathematics that lead to success in the applications of planing craft design engineering, and begins with the simplest configuration that embodies the basic physics. He leads readers, step-by-step, through the physical complications that occur, leading to a useful working knowledge of marine design and engineering. Included in the book are a wealth of examples that exemplify some of the most important naval architecture and marine engineering problems that challenge many of today’s engineers.

Book Reduction of Planing Boat Resistance by Deflection of the Whisker Spray

Download or read book Reduction of Planing Boat Resistance by Deflection of the Whisker Spray written by Eugene P. Clement and published by . This book was released on 1964 with total page 23 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Additional experimental verification is presented of the reduction of planing boat drag which can be achieved by using longitudinal strips forward of the stagnation line to deflect the whisker spray from the hull surface. In addition, graphs for determining the high-speed positions of the spray boundary and stagnation lines are given, to assist designers in locating spray deflectors on planing boats in the most effective positions. Book Fiberglass Boat Restoration

Download or read book Fiberglass Boat Restoration written by Captain Wayne Canning and published by Simon and Schuster. This book was released on 2017-08-15 with total page 160 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: How to select a boat, plan your project, finish the job, and actually head for the water. Over the past thirty to forty years boat builders, large and small, have produced tens of thousands of fiberglass boats. Many now sit abandoned, waiting for some tender care to get back on the water where they belong. Fiberglass unlike many other types of boatbuilding materials does not rot, rust, or break down over the years. Many people have realized this, of course, and have started what they think will be an easy project. They were wrong, and many well-intentioned renovations sit abandoned. Whatever the reason for wanting to take on the restoration of a project boat, proper planning and organization can make the difference between success and failure. Fiberglass Boat Restoration is about how to plan, organize and successfully complete a project boat restoration. It will explain why it is important to put your efforts and resources into some areas and not others. It contains valuable information about what to look for when considering the purchase of a project boat. Although the focus of the book is fiberglass, the information will be useful to anyone undertaking the building or restoration of any boat.

Book Shallow water Performance of a Planing Boat

Download or read book Shallow water Performance of a Planing Boat written by Andras Istvan Toro and published by . This book was released on 1969 with total page 34 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The results of a planing-boat model resistance test program conducted at four different water depths, including deep water, and three locations of LCG are presented. The sensitivity of the resistance of a planing boat to shallow water through the critical speed range (Fnh = 0.5-3.5) is analyzed and compared with the deep-water results. The paper also gives extrapolated results for a boat of 100,000 lb gross weight. Model and full-scale results are presented in convenient graphical and tabular form for further use.

Book Smooth Water Resistance of a Number of Planing Boat Designs

Download or read book Smooth Water Resistance of a Number of Planing Boat Designs written by Eugene P. Clement and published by . This book was released on 1959 with total page 37 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Models of a number of different planing boat designs were towed in smooth water to provide data for guidance in designing aircraft rescue boats and similar high-speed craft. Resistance, trim, rise, and wetted surface were determined for each design for either standard or comparable conditions of hull loading and center of gravity location. The test data, lines, and hull form characteristics for each design are presented in a design data sheet. The resistances of the different designs are compared, and reasons given for significant differences. (Author).

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The utilization of a design approach for a planing boat similar to that followed in the design of a hydrofoil boat or an airplane leads to a new, more efficient type of planing boat configuration.
