Opin makes a new friend in the shelter, but shelters don’t allow dogs... Will anything other than a real home ever be enough?

Her parents can't understand her compulsion, and she pushes them away further by losing herself in the work of tracking down these missing people. It's been a year since his brother Donal vanished into thin air, and he has enlisted Sandy Shortt to find him. But before she is able to offer Jack the information he so desperately needs, Sandy goes missing too...and Jack now finds himself searching for his brother and the one woman who understood his pain. One minute Sandy is jogging through the park, the next, she can't figure out where she is. The path is obscured. Nothing is familiar. A clearing up ahead reveals a camp site, and it's there that Sandy discovers the impossible: she has inadvertently stumbled upon the place -- and people -- she's been looking for all her life, a land where all the missing people go. A world away from her loved ones and the home she ran from for so long, Sandy soon resorts to her old habit again, searching. Though this time, she is desperately trying to find her way home . . .

Book No Place Like Motorhome

Download or read book No Place Like Motorhome written by Lisa Mills and published by Lisa Mills. This book was released on 2020-05-31 with total page 251 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: City girls LOVE country boys, right? When a country-loving bachelor gets a rude introduction to a cultured, sophisticated city-girl, they instantly clash. But as they’re thrown together time and again, they realize, their two worlds might not be as far apart as they initially thought. Meet Darcy... As Darcy Granger finishes her graduate degree and looks for employment, her parents make the inexplicable decision to abandon successful careers, lease their New York City apartment, and purchase a motorhome to become "full-timers." As a young adult she should be eager to start her own life, but her wounded inner child mourns that her safety net has been pulled away and there's no nest for her to fly back to. To make the transition easier, her parents invite her to stay with them while she looks for a job as a research librarian. Born and raised in New York City, Darcy struggles to acclimate to the campy lifestyle her parents have adopted. They drag her out on rural excursions where high-heeled shoes dare not go and forms of outdoorsy torture lurk around every bend in the road. Then there's Marc... Marc Fitzsimmons is a twenty-seven-year-old writer who roams the country, pulling a travel trailer behind his pickup truck and penning articles for magazines. He loves living a casual life on the go, seeing new sights and meeting new people at every stop. The career he's chosen feeds his adventurous soul and fills him with satisfaction, but it's definitely made it difficult to date. He’s almost given up the idea of marrying and having children, knowing the odds of finding a woman who wants to share his lifestyle are slim to none. When these two meet on the campground, sparks fly, but as they get to know one another, those sparks ignite a flame in their hearts that is hard to ignore! A lighthearted clean romance novel.

Book No Place Like Here

Download or read book No Place Like Here written by Christina June and published by Blink. This book was released on 2019-05-21 with total page 289 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: After a year spent at a boarding school for her past mistakes, Ashlyn is ready to reconnect with her friends, restart her life, and enter senior year. But when family trouble hits home and she is forced to help out at her estranged cousin’s wilderness retreat center, Ashlyn struggles between returning to the girl she was or growing into someone new. Ashlyn Zanotti has big plans for the summer. She's just spent a year at boarding school and can't wait to get home. But when Ashlyn's father is arrested for tax evasion and her mother enters a rehab facility for "exhaustion," a.k.a. depression, her life is turned upside down again. Things go from bad to worse when Ashlyn's father sends her to work with a cousin she doesn't even know at a rustic team-building retreat center in the middle of nowhere. A self-proclaimed "indoor girl," not even Ash's habit of leaving breadcrumb quotes--inspirational sayings she scribbles everywhere--can help her cope. With a dangerously careless camp manager doling out grunt work, an overbearing father trying to control her even from prison, and more than a little boy drama to struggle with, the summer is full of challenges. And Ashlyn must make the toughest decision of her life: keep quiet and follow her dad's marching orders or find the courage to finally stand up to her father to have any hope of finding her way back home. A modern twist on Hansel and Gretel, No Place like Here features: A strong female lead who doesn’t shy away from difficult parent-teen relationships A clean and wholesome love triangle, romcom vibes, and feel-good fuzzy emotions Returning cast of characters from Christina June’s It Started With Goodbye Perfect for fans of Elise Bryant, Morgan Matson, and Sarah Dessen

Book A Place Like Home

Download or read book A Place Like Home written by W. David Wills and published by Routledge. This book was released on 2021-11-07 with total page 179 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The late David Wills spent a lifetime in the service of the so-called delinquent, the misfit, the maladjusted. He was the first Englishman to train as a psychiatric social worker and was well known for his books The Hawkspur Experiment, The Barns Experiment, etc. Originally published in 1970, this book describes another experiment with a hostel for boys leaving schools for maladjusted children and lacking any settled home from which to enter the community. It demonstrates once again David Wills’s conviction that the offender wants to be ‘good’ and will be helped by affection rather than by punishment. Yet it is obvious that the work was full of stress and that only people with some of the attributes of archangels could respond to the boys’ needs and remain in control of the situation. The book demonstrates the extent of deprivation suffered by such young people and that no ordinary hostels or lodgings will do if they are to be set upon a less turbulent course of life, leading to truly adult independence. It added greatly to our understanding of the personalities, experience of life and needs of maladjusted boys in their ‘teens at the time, although the lessons drawn from it were disturbing in relation both to prevention and treatment. The penetration of David Wills’s assessment is beyond doubt and (as Dame Eileen Younghusband concludes in her Foreword) his book will give a great deal to those ‘trying in various capacities to help boys and girls who otherwise would grow into adulthood permanently handicapped emotionally and socially’. This book is a re-issue originally published in 1970. The language used is a reflection of its era and no offence is meant by the Publishers to any reader by this re-publication.
