This book was released on 2013-03-19 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: As one of the best-selling Intermediate Spanish titles, the third edition of ¡Avance! continues to develop students' functional, communicative language skills through reinforcement, expansion, and synthesis of the concepts learned in the introductory course sequence. ¡Avance! offers contextualized activities that review language and foster skill development, while at the same time, preparing students to continue their Spanish major or minor coursework and for real-life communicative tasks. Recognizing the need for cultural competence simultaneously coupled with the desire to introduce students to literature at the intermediate level, the 3rd edition of ¡Avance! includes cultural and literary texts in every chapter, creating a program that meets instructors' demands that intermediate-level instructional materials be not merely contextualized but also content-rich and interesting, as well as motivating to today's students. The modern Spanish classroom is changing as are the teaching and learning experiences we all want to provide our students. As such, professors are searching for more types of homework tools, better reporting features, and cutting-edge functionality to meet the demands of their courses and the needs of their students. Connect Spanish, McGraw-Hill's digital platform which accompanies the third edition of ¡Avance!, offers state-of-the-art resources never before available to intermediate Spanish, to address the varying levels of communication of intermediate Spanish learners with proven outcomes that improve student learning in measurable ways. Book PK TU MUNDO UPDATED EDITION WITH CONNECT PLUS AND LEARNSMART ACCESS CARD

Download or read book PK TU MUNDO UPDATED EDITION WITH CONNECT PLUS AND LEARNSMART ACCESS CARD written by Magdalena Andrade and published by McGraw-Hill Humanities/Social Sciences/Languages. This book was released on 2013-04-30 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Tu mundo immerses the Intro Spanish student in a culturally rich world full of opportunities to discover and explore the powerful connections between themselves and the people and cultures of the Spanish-speaking world. Students dive in to intensive communicative practice, building confidence in their ability to interact in a meaningful way in Spanish with access to a wealth of tools to support and guide their progress, including video chat, interactive online scenarios, and an adaptive diagnostic program. In addition, students are able to create their own sense of community, resulting in a unique individual experience that will evolve organically with each student, sparking their natural curiosity about their world. Tu mundo employs a communicative methodology that focuses on developing all four skills, supported by the best digital learning platform available today: Connect Spanish. Because Tu mundo was designed with today’s students in mind, students are more readily engaged with the content, thanks to their avid use of web-based tools, their innate interest the cultures of other countries, and their preference for visual presentations and quick access to information. Tu mundo reflects the world in which our students live; where online learning, social networking, texting, instant messaging, mobile devices, tablets, online gaming, and virtual scenarios are an integral part of daily life. What are the pillars of Tu mundo? Our extensive and ongoing research in the Intro Spanish course has led to the creation of Tu mundo, with a strong emphasis on the 5 C’s: Communication, Culture, Connections, Comparisons, and Communities. Tu mundo delivers content in a variety of ways in order to ensure consistent course outcomes across all course formats. 1. Improved communication performance & skills: By jumping directly into communicative practice at the beginning of every chapter, students are encouraged to immerse themselves in the experience of active learning, whether in a face-to-face or online classroom. Grammar is presented at the end of each chapter, allowing students to study at home and work through the exercises in Connect Spanish for automatic feedback, coming to class ready to engage in discussion. This emphasis on communication in the classroom makes Tu mundo the most effective communicative program on the market. No other program commits to this methodology like Tu mundo. 2. Creating consistent learning outcomes: Tu mundo offers a powerful adaptive learning system called LearnSmart that allows students to identify grammatical structures and vocabulary words not yet mastered and to receive an individualized study program for mastering them. Students of all experience levels will benefit from using LearnSmart, which includes built-in reporting and a competitive scoreboard. Connect Spanish Voice Board and Blackboard Instant Messenger (BbIM), both powered by Wimba, ensure that students are getting ample practice time no matter where their classes take place. 3. Building community and connections between students: Creating a sense of community in the face-to-face or virtual classroom is a huge part of language learning and something that Tu mundo does implicitly. Whether students collaborate in a physical classroom or in Connect Spanish, they are provided with opportunities to engage in meaningful conversations and collaborative task-based activities. The Amigos sin fronteras, a cast of young Hispanic students that share common interests, are featured throughout the entire program and showcased in the Así somos video segments. Through the Amigos sin fronteras, students are exposed to a friendly model on how to apply what they are learning to another friendly group of students, i.e. their own class. In addition, Tu mundo presents an interactive online environment that applies engaging content and task-based scenarios that enable you to practicing your language skills in a fun, immersive way. Thus, students can practice Spanish in a context that is not only fun but extremely motivating. 4. More Culture and Comparisons coverage: Culture is so often left behind—so Tu mundo offers it throughout the program. Each chapter features a country of focus which doubles as the home country of one of the fifteen amigos. Along with in-chapter cultural sections, every chapter of Tu mundo features a second video segment called Mi país (within Connect), narrated by the amigos themselves, as they share information about their native countries. This window into the lives of the amigos provides a point of comparison for you to describe your own life. The Mundo interactivo scenarios represent a variety of cultural contexts in which you can interact with language and culture in a way that is meaningful to you.

Download or read book The First Year written by Dr Lachlan Rathie Fanzca and published by Createspace Independent Publishing Platform. This book was released on 2016-04-26 with total page 298 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Some common clinical questions: - What are the criteria for extubation? - What is the intubating dose of rocuronium for a patient who weighs 150kg? - How do I interpret a post tetanic count? - How do I manage a LMA with a leak? - What's the point of giving midazolam on induction? - Should I use a cuffed tube in a 4 year old? - How do I give a child a TIVA? - How do I intubate someone without muscle relaxants? - How do changes in cardiac output affect the induction dose of propofol? - Do I have to abandon my anaesthetic machine if there is a power board failure? This book answers those questions and a whole lot more. It is not an exam primer nor is it a comprehensive textbook of anaesthesia. This is the book you give to the trainee specialist who is about to embark on their anaesthesia training. It contains the information they need to formulate and develop a safe practice of anaesthesia. This book lucidly describes and justifies the core knowledge, behaviours and practice that a junior trainee would be expected to possess after a year of anaesthesia. Written specifically for Australasian anaesthetic trainees and GP registrars doing their JCCA advanced skills post, this book fills the gaping hole in the existing anaesthetic literature. This book aspires to take the relevant bits of a pharmacology textbook, a physiology textbook, a clinical anaesthesia textbook, an anaesthetics emergency manual and a perioperative medicine guide and tie them together in a succinct but sufficiently detailed volume. This book has been written with the intention of being relevant, up to date, pragmatic and entertaining. Written by a former rural GP, now Senior Staff Anaesthetist, Supervisor of Training and incorrigible cynic; this is the book he would have liked to have when he embarked on his First Year.

Book Teacher Induction and Mentoring

Download or read book Teacher Induction and Mentoring written by Juanjo Mena and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2022-01-01 with total page 300 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book draws together various theoretical and research-based perspectives to examine the institutionalization of mentoring processes for beginning teachers. Teacher induction, defined as the guidance provided to new teachers, is increasingly gaining traction as a key stage in promoting quality education. Major efforts have been put into reducing transitional challenges from being a student teacher to a practicing teacher; optimizing professional relationships and socialization into school dynamics; and increasing teacher retention. Mentoring has been proven to add benefits in assisting beginning teachers during the early years of their teaching career, because it provides the required knowledge and skills to face uncertain school scenarios and the complexities of practice. However, teacher induction programs are not part of regular instruction in many countries. The lack of teacher training during the induction phase might result in lower levels of commitment, professional isolation, or even attrition. This book calls for more concrete mentoring processes for early career teachers, and questions how this can be put into practice.
