Book Pilot Heart Rate During In flight Simulated Instrument Approaches in a General Aviation Aircraft

Download or read book Pilot Heart Rate During In flight Simulated Instrument Approaches in a General Aviation Aircraft written by A. Howard Hasbrook and published by . This book was released on 1970 with total page 13 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Eight instrument rated pilots with flying experience ranging from 600 to 12,271 hours each flew 10 simulated ILS instrument approaches in a single engine, general aviation aircraft equipped with a primary flight display arranged in conventional 'T' configuration. Continuous heart rate data were recorded during each approach. Approaches were flown consecutively at approximate 10-minute intervals, with a 1-minute in-flight rest period prior to each approach. Principal findings were: heart rate increased significantly during each approach; mean increase in heart rate during the approaches was 5.2 beats per minute (BPM) and was of a relatively constant magnitude for each of the 10 approaches; and the overall mean heart rate level decreased on successive approaches for a total of 11.0 BPM for the 10 approaches. The results are discussed in terms of responses to stress introduced by the demands of the task.

Book Reproduction Reconceived

Download or read book Reproduction Reconceived written by Sara Matthiesen and published by Univ of California Press. This book was released on 2021-10-26 with total page 333 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The landmark case Roe v. Wade redefined family: it is now commonplace for Americans to treat having children as a choice. But the historic decision also coincided with widening inequality, an ongoing trend that continues to make choice more myth than reality. In this new and timely history, Matthiesen shows how the effects of incarceration, for-profit healthcare, disease, and poverty have been worsened by state neglect, forcing most to work harder to maintain a family.

Download or read book Skyfaring written by Mark Vanhoenacker and published by Vintage. This book was released on 2015-06-02 with total page 368 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A poetic and nuanced exploration of the human experience of flight that reminds us of the full imaginative weight of our most ordinary journeys—and reawakens our capacity to be amazed. The twenty-first century has relegated airplane flight—a once remarkable feat of human ingenuity—to the realm of the mundane. Mark Vanhoenacker, a 747 pilot who left academia and a career in the business world to pursue his childhood dream of flight, asks us to reimagine what we—both as pilots and as passengers—are actually doing when we enter the world between departure and discovery. In a seamless fusion of history, politics, geography, meteorology, ecology, family, and physics, Vanhoenacker vaults across geographical and cultural boundaries; above mountains, oceans, and deserts; through snow, wind, and rain, renewing a simultaneously humbling and almost superhuman activity that affords us unparalleled perspectives on the planet we inhabit and the communities we form.
