Book Physical Layer Security Quantum Key Distribution and Post quantum Cryptography

Download or read book Physical Layer Security Quantum Key Distribution and Post quantum Cryptography written by Ivan B. Djordjevic and published by Mdpi AG. This book was released on 2022-08-17 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The growth of data-driven technologies, 5G, and the Internet place enormous pressure on underlying information infrastructure. There exist numerous proposals on how to deal with the possible capacity crunch. However, the security of both optical and wireless networks lags behind reliable and spectrally efficient transmission. Significant achievements have been made recently in the quantum computing arena. Because most conventional cryptography systems rely on computational security, which guarantees the security against an efficient eavesdropper for a limited time, with the advancement in quantum computing this security can be compromised. To solve these problems, various schemes providing perfect/unconditional security have been proposed including physical-layer security (PLS), quantum key distribution (QKD), and post-quantum cryptography. Unfortunately, it is still not clear how to integrate those different proposals with higher level cryptography schemes. So the purpose of the Special Issue entitled "Physical-Layer Security, Quantum Key Distribution and Post-quantum Cryptography" was to integrate these various approaches and enable the next generation of cryptography systems whose security cannot be broken by quantum computers. This book represents the reprint of the papers accepted for publication in the Special Issue.

Book Quantum Key Distribution Protocols with High Rates and Low Costs

Download or read book Quantum Key Distribution Protocols with High Rates and Low Costs written by Zheshen Zhang and published by . This book was released on 2009 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In the age of information explosion, there is huge amount of information generated every second. Some of the information generated, for example news, is supposed to be shared by public and anyone in the world can get a copy of it. However, sometimes, information is only supposed to be maintain private or only shared by a given group of people. In the latter case, information protection becomes very important. There are various ways to protect information. One of the technical ways is cryptography, which is an area of interest for mathematicians, computer scientists and physicists. As a new area in cryptography, physical layer security has been paid great attention recently. Quantum key distribution is a hot research topic for physical layer security in the two decades. This thesis focuses on two quantum key distribution protocols that can potentially increase the key generation rate and lower the cost. On protocol is based on amplified spontaneous emission as signal source and the other one is based on discretely signaled continuous variable quantum communication. The security analysis and experimental implementation issues for both protocols are discussed.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Using the quantum properties of single photons to exchange binary keys between two partners for subsequent encryption of secret data is an absolutely novel te- nology. Only a few years ago quantum cryptography – or better Quantum Key Distribution – was the domain of basic research laboratories at universities. But during the last few years things changed. Quantum Key Distribution or QKD left the laboratories and was picked up by more practical-oriented teams that worked hard to develop a practically applicable technology out of the astonishing results of basic research. One major milestone toward a QKD technology was a large research and dev- opment project funded by the European Commission that aimed at combining qu- tum physics with complementary technologies that are necessary to create a tech- cal solution: electronics, software, and network components were added within the project SECOQC (Development of a Global Network for Secure Communication based on Quantum Cryptography) that teamed up all expertise on European level to get a technology for future cryptography.

Book Limitations and Future Applications of Quantum Cryptography

Download or read book Limitations and Future Applications of Quantum Cryptography written by Kumar, Neeraj and published by IGI Global. This book was released on 2020-12-18 with total page 305 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The concept of quantum computing is based on two fundamental principles of quantum mechanics: superposition and entanglement. Instead of using bits, qubits are used in quantum computing, which is a key indicator in the high level of safety and security this type of cryptography ensures. If interfered with or eavesdropped in, qubits will delete or refuse to send, which keeps the information safe. This is vital in the current era where sensitive and important personal information can be digitally shared online. In computer networks, a large amount of data is transferred worldwide daily, including anything from military plans to a country’s sensitive information, and data breaches can be disastrous. This is where quantum cryptography comes into play. By not being dependent on computational power, it can easily replace classical cryptography. Limitations and Future Applications of Quantum Cryptography is a critical reference that provides knowledge on the basics of IoT infrastructure using quantum cryptography, the differences between classical and quantum cryptography, and the future aspects and developments in this field. The chapters cover themes that span from the usage of quantum cryptography in healthcare, to forensics, and more. While highlighting topics such as 5G networks, image processing, algorithms, and quantum machine learning, this book is ideally intended for security professionals, IoT developers, computer scientists, practitioners, researchers, academicians, and students interested in the most recent research on quantum computing.

Book Quantum Communications and Cryptography

Download or read book Quantum Communications and Cryptography written by Alexander V. Sergienko and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2018-10-03 with total page 248 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: All current methods of secure communication such as public-key cryptography can eventually be broken by faster computing. At the interface of physics and computer science lies a powerful solution for secure communications: quantum cryptography. Because eavesdropping changes the physical nature of the information, users in a quantum exchange can easily detect eavesdroppers. This allows for totally secure random key distribution, a central requirement for use of the one-time pad. Since the one-time pad is theoretically proven to be undecipherable, quantum cryptography is the key to perfect secrecy. Quantum Communications and Cryptography is the first comprehensive review of the past, present, and potential developments in this dynamic field. Leading expert contributors from around the world discuss the scientific foundations, experimental and theoretical developments, and cutting-edge technical and engineering advances in quantum communications and cryptography. The book describes the engineering principles and practical implementations in a real-world metropolitan network as well as physical principles and experimental results of such technologies as entanglement swapping and quantum teleportation. It also offers the first detailed treatment of quantum information processing with continuous variables. Technologies include both free-space and fiber-based communications systems along with the necessary protocols and information processing approaches. Bridging the gap between physics and engineering, Quantum Communications and Cryptography supplies a springboard for further developments and breakthroughs in this rapidly growing area.

Book Multi photon Quantum Secure Communication

Download or read book Multi photon Quantum Secure Communication written by Pramode K. Verma and published by Springer. This book was released on 2018-08-18 with total page 214 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book explores alternative ways of accomplishing secure information transfer with incoherent multi-photon pulses in contrast to conventional Quantum Key Distribution techniques. Most of the techniques presented in this book do not need conventional encryption. Furthermore, the book presents a technique whereby any symmetric key can be securely transferred using the polarization channel of an optical fiber for conventional data encryption. The work presented in this book has largely been practically realized, albeit in a laboratory environment, to offer proof of concept rather than building a rugged instrument that can withstand the rigors of a commercial environment.
