Book Phone Busking

Download or read book Phone Busking written by Mark Alan Hill and published by . This book was released on 2014-06-04 with total page 176 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first few seconds of your telephone cold call are crucial. If you fail to connect with your prospect during that moment, the likelihood of ending the call with a positive response diminishes greatly. Scientific research has proven that it is not the words you use during that critical period that helps you make a connection, instead, it is the sound of your voice. In fact, even after your introduction, the sound of your voice continues to have a greater influence on whether your prospect will agree to an appointment, let you quote on a project, or even buy from you, than any specific words you use. In Phone Busking: How the Sound of Your Voice Determines Your Success While Telephone Cold Calling, sales professional and author, Mark Alan Hill explores the psychological effects specific features in your voice have on your prospects and demonstrates how using them at just the precise time, can significantly increase your success rate while cold calling.

Book excerpt: Cities are full of stories – it's amazing what you hear if you stop and listen. Drawing on her decade of singing on the tube, Danusia Samal's Busking It is a journey through the tunnels of the London Underground. This is a fun, moving and vibrant piece of gig-theatre, giving voice a multiplicity of passers-by: "We meet in detail half a dozen members of the public: her father figure, an old Boxer, a lonely man with two Iron Maiden tickets, a Spanish woman supposedly suffering from amnesia and a threatening man" (A Younger Theatre). Blending chance encounters with original live music, Busking It zooms in on the little interactions that show our humanity. It was developed as part of the RSC's Making Mischief festival, and won the HighTide Edinburgh award.

Book Buskers

Download or read book Buskers written by Heth Weinstein and published by Catapult. This book was released on 2011-06-07 with total page 173 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Frustrated by the indifference of the music industry and the stacks of homemade CDs gathering dust in their closets, brothers Heth and Jed Weinstein made the radical decision to bring their music directly to the masses. They began playing on street corners, in subway stations, and wherever else they could connect with a live audience. To their surprise, far from this being the terminal stop of a dead-end career, busking turned out to be just the beginning as crowds of stressed-out commuters gathered around, cheering them on, subscribing to their mailing lists, and actually buying some of those stockpiled CDs—40,000 and counting. In Buskers, Heth and Jed recount their turbulent, drug- and crime-filled adolescence in the nowhere-land of Livingston, New Jersey, their valiant attempts to achieve rock ’n’ roll success through traditional channels, and their unexpected path to circumventing the outmoded music industry. They divulge fascinating details about the technical and legal aspects of street performance, New York busking culture, and the lives of their fellow troubadours. A world of possibilities opens up when the brothers take it to the streets, proving the value of their music to themselves and anyone who’ll listen. Read their story, and your commute will never be the same.

Download or read book From The Underground Busking in London CHAPTER2 7 July 2005 London bombings written by Hideaki Domon and published by 豊作パブリッシング. This book was released on 2012-11-18 with total page 59 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: From The Underground Buskingin London CHAPTER2 7 July 2005 London bombings How many people in Japan know what “busking” means? In Britain, busking is “to earn money by singing or playing a musical instrument in public places,” and singers or players are called “buskers.” Busking has thrived in the London Underground for many years, and has become an established part of the music culture. It gives the travelling public a brief and transient moment to unwind and enjoy music; it is also a tourist attraction at the same time. However, with the modernisation of stations and the increasing number of passengers, busking caused some problems, such as noise, jeopardising passengers’ safety, disputes between buskers, etc. So in 2003 the London Underground Authority introduced a licensing system which requires that anyone wanting to be a busker must pass an audition. Luckily, I was the first Japanese to acquire an official busking licence. This book is a record of my busking between April and November 2005, but other occurrences and anecdotes that took place before those eight months are also included. I hope you will enjoy the book - just like you enjoy listening to your favourite music time and time again! The diary of laughter with the tear of Mr. Domon who was basking in the same time at London Underground as the author "James Bowen" of the books "street cat named a bob".

Download or read book The Busker written by Liam Murray Bell and published by Myriad Editions. This book was released on 2014-05-01 with total page 287 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Three cities, two years, one chance: from the author of the critically acclaimed debut So It Is — shortlisted for best first book at the Scottish Book Awards 2013 — comes the hard-hitting story of a young man determined to find his voice. Plucked from obscurity in Glasgow, Rab Dillon is about to become the next great protest singer. Seduced by promises of stardom, carrying only the guitar given to him by the girl who broke his heart, he travels down to London. There he records the debut album that will speak to the dispossessed, the disenfranchised and disheartened. One year later, he is sleeping rough on the streets of Brighton. A modern-day ballad set across three cities and two years, The Busker is a richly comic exposé of the music industry, the Occupy movement, homelessness, squatting — and failing to live up to the name you (almost) share with your hero. It is also the story of what survives when the flimsy dreams of fame fall apart.

Book excerpt: Opposites attract when a free-spirited American singer-songwriter with ADHD teams up with a charming Irishman to revitalize his family's pub in the next heartfelt romance from the author of Luck and Last Resorts. Raine Hart is used to the challenges of living with ADHD. It’s why she ditched her life in Boston to busk around Europe as a traveling musician. No boss. No schedule. No one to disappoint but herself. But when a careless mistake in Ireland leaves her unable to perform, she sees no other option but to give up her nomadic life. Since inheriting the Local, Jack Dunne has wanted to make the pub his own. But the baggage of running a family business and the intrusive thoughts that stem from his OCD make changing things a challenge. Over a pint with handsome, tattooed Jack, Raine accidentally insults him and the pub. Instead of taking offense, Jack, impressed by her vision of what the pub could be, offers her a job bringing it to life. But when Raine and Jack develop feelings for one another their opposite lifestyles won’t accommodate, it becomes clear the pub isn’t the only thing that needs reinventing. As the end of their business collaboration draws near, they’ll have to find a way past the limits they’ve placed on themselves or let go of a love that could last a lifetime.
