Book N One The Works of C J Cala

Download or read book N One The Works of C J Cala written by C.J. Cala and published by C.J. Cala. This book was released on with total page 355 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: NOTE: In my life, I ended up writing thousands of pages of material. But, as I approach middle age, I have decided to only keep select works of mine that I can still stomach; and, so, I have compiled everything in this one work. Everything else (with the exception of Phoenix Veneficus' School of Sorceries) has been pulled from publication. What is collected in this book are also writings assembled off of old PDF files (as the original text files were lost years ago). I apologize for any spacing issues in this work, but it is the best I can do. I hope to be forgiven for all the things I have made someday. Perhaps silence truly is best suited. And perhaps there is no point in even preserving these works through this publication. Best blessings upon you; and I hope you lead a happy life. Forgive me, Father, for my great folly. The golden treasures we carry out to sea only come to sink our ships.

Book Wordplay and Powerplay in Latin Poetry

Download or read book Wordplay and Powerplay in Latin Poetry written by Phillip Mitsis and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2016-07-28 with total page 392 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The political allegiances of major Roman poets have been notoriously difficult to pin down, in part because they often shift the onus of political interpretation from themselves to their readers. By the same token, it is often difficult to assess their authorial powerplays in the etymologies, puns, anagrams, telestichs, and acronyms that feature prominently in their poetry. It is the premise of this volume that the contexts of composition, performance, and reception play a critical role in constructing poetic voices as either politically favorable or dissenting, and however much the individual scholars in this volume disagree among themselves, their readings try to do justice collectively to poetry’s power to shape political realities. The book is aimed not only at scholars of Roman poetry, politics, and philosophy, but also at those working in later literary and political traditions influenced by Rome's greatest poets.

From faerie-inhabited forests to the long-abandoned ruins of a wizardly palace to the inner chambers of a secretive convent, The Broken Covenant of Calebais goes to the roots of roleplaying -- to the early days of fantasy stories -- when realism, romance, mystery, and magic were foremost in mind. This revised edition of The Broken Covenant of Calebais is the third version of the adventure to be published for Ars Magica. Calebais was the first adventure published for the First Edition of the game, and was reworked for Second Edition. Now, to coincide with the release of the game's Fifth Edition, this classic has been revised and expanded once more. Although the plot, setting, and atmosphere remain the same, the text has been almost completely rewritten to integrate this classic adventure into the newest and best version of Ars Magica.
