This book was released on 1996 with total page 162 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A Site Investigation (SI) was conducted at four separate former underground storage tank (UST) locations. A total of nine USTs, at seven different locations, were removed as part of an on-going ANG tank removal program. Confirmation sampling performed at the time the tanks removed exhibited levels of contamination requiring further investigation at four of the locations, with two USTs at one of the locations. The former USTs were identified as; No. 591 adjacent to Building 659, No. 873 adjacent to Building 687, No. 801 adjacent to Building 680, and Nos. 651/652 adjacent to Building 665. The findings of this SI found only low levels of contamination and recommended no further action. The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency issued a letter on 2 October 1996 accepting the findings and recommendations stating: 'The Minnesota Pollution Control Agency (MPCA) Tanks and Emergency Response Section (TERS) staff has determined that your investigation and/or cleanup has adequately addressed the petroleum tank release at the sites listed above. Based on the information provided, the TERS staff has closed the release site files'.

Book Phase 2 Site Investigations Report Volume 1 of 3 General Annex Wide Information

Download or read book Phase 2 Site Investigations Report Volume 1 of 3 General Annex Wide Information written by and published by . This book was released on 1994 with total page 186 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Site Investigations (Sis) at Fort Devens Sudbury Training Annex (the Annex), Massachusetts, were performed by Ecology and Environment, Inc; (E & E) for the United States Army Environmental Center (USAEC) under Total Environmental Program Support (TEPS) Contract No. DAAA15-90-D-0012, Delivery Order No. 0004. Volume II describes all of the 38 sites assigned to E & E in the second phase of activity at the Annex using a watershed approach where each of the sites are grouped based upon their surface water and groundwater drainage characteristics and locations within one of six watersheds at the Annex. As described in Volume I (General Volume) of this report set, the Sis were conducted in accordance with the requirements of the Comprehensive Environmental Response, Compensation, and Liability Act (CERCLA) as directed under the Federal Facility Agreement between the United States Army and the United States Environmental Protection Agency (EPA). Volume III contains the appendices which present field notes, drilling logs, geotechnical data, geophysical investigation summaries, analytical qualification results, ecological investigation results, and other data produced during the SIs. Thirty-eight sites were assigned to E & E in the second phase of activities at the Annex. A total of 31 SIs were conducted (Sites A8/P10 and P31/P58, were combined for Sis because of their proximity to each other). Two Remedial Investigations (RIs), involving five sites at the Annex (Sites P11/P13, and P36/A12/P37, respectively), are currently underway. Conclusions regarding these RI sites will be made when the RIs are complete. Information on these sites is presented in this report to help in watershed-wide assessments.

Download or read book Installation Restoration Program Phase 2 Confirmation Quantification Stage 2 Volume 2 Tyndall Air Force Base Florida written by R. L. Schulze and published by . This book was released on 1988 with total page 400 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The overall objective of the Phase II investigation is to define the magnitude, extent, direction and rate of movement of identified contaminants. A series of staged field investigations may be required to meet this objective. The contractor shall recommend any additional investigations required beyond this stage (Stage 2), including an estimate of costs. The purpose of this task is to undertake a field investigation at Tyndall AFB FL (1) to determine the magnitude of contamination and the potential for migration of contaminants in the various environmental media; and (2) to identify potential environmental consequences and health risks of migrating pollutants based on State or Federal standards for those contaminants. The Phase I and Phase II Stage 1 IRP Reports (mailed under separate cover incorporated the background, description and previous work for the sites in this task, (except Zone 11, a new site). (MGM).

Book Recommendation for No Further Investigation at Study Area 6 SA 6 McClellan Air Force Base California

Download or read book Recommendation for No Further Investigation at Study Area 6 SA 6 McClellan Air Force Base California written by and published by . This book was released on 1999 with total page 160 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The purpose of this report is to document the effectiveness of soil remediation at SA 6 and to provide data to support an NFI decision for the site. SA 6 is located in the southwestern portion of the base within Operable Unit B (OU B) (Figure 1.1), south of Building 656, and west of Building 655 (Figure 1.2). The site is the former location of a gasoline service station (Building 657) and its associated underground storage tanks (USTs) which were located immediately east of the former building. The site is currently near the center of a large, paved parking lot. The former service station operated from 1955 until 1990. The two gasoline USTs and twO diesel USTs which supplied the station were removed in 1990 and 1991. Initial investigations conducted by the Base determined that the USTs had leaked and contaminated the soil. Subsequent investigations conducted at SA 6 identified fuel hydrocarbons, volatile organic compounds (VOCs) including benzene, toluene, ethylbenzene, and xylenes (BTEX), and halogenated VOCs in soil, soil vapor, and groundwater (ES, 1994; Radian, 1995). Although halogenated VOCs (chlorinated compounds) have been detected at SA 6, the Remedial Investigation Characterization Summary (RICS) (Radian, 1995) concluded that the source of these compounds is Investigation Cluster 7 (IC 7), another OU B site northwest of SA 6. Because only petroleum hydrocarbon contamination is attributed to the former gasoline service station, the RICS concluded that only total petroleum hydrocarbons (TPH) and BTEX were contaminants of potential concern (COPCs) at SA 6.
