Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Dr. Collin Reeves rejected the easy life once out of medical school, enrolling instead in the famous London School of Tropical Diseases, transitioning straight out into the trenches of the Third World and fighting the Good Fight against the legion of diseases that bedevil the world’s poor. He was making a difference. His youthful energy and commitment, and the fact that he seemed to have no problem “going native” caught the attention of the U.S. Central Intelligence Agency, and given his idealistic nature and proven capabilities, it was no surprise when he said “yes” to their recruitment after the horrific events of 9/11/2001. His transfer found him in Mexico City under the guise of “on-call” doctor for sick American tourists. In reality, a rumor reached the Head of Station that something had been taken off a ship of Middle-Eastern origin and was now somewhere on the Mexican mainland. Dr. Reeves was now being assigned to keep a prisoner alive who was being tortured for information about the supposed incident, and to look after a beautiful young “tourist” staying at his hotel, leading to a series of events that left him at war with his own conscience, the CIA, and the desire to be loved.

Download or read book Access Behind the Veil written by Dr. Michael Petro and published by First Edition Design Pub.. This book was released on 2015-11-12 with total page 201 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many in the Church are waiting with expectation for the second coming of Christ. The parable of the wedding feast in Matthew 22 tells us that the Church, the Bride, was invited to the wedding but didn’t come. In 2 Thessalonians, Paul warns that the second coming would be preceded by a “great falling away” and Matthew 24 says that if these days were not cut short then even the elect could be deceived. With thousands of Christian denominations preaching a different gospel, let us examine Scripture from the earliest perspective, which is that of the Early Church. The Early Church Fathers were the spiritual sons of the apostles, who learned directly from Jesus. They tell us what the end would be like and unlock the deeper meanings of Scripture. While many today are waiting to be “raptured,” these apostolic men believed that the glory of God would first manifest in His Church. The apocalypse, often misunderstood to mean the end of the world, is simply two Greek words put together: apo (to destroy) and kalypto (the veil). The Book of Revelation is about destroying the veil to enter back into the glory of God. These revelatory teachings were passed down and preserved for hundreds of years, yet for the most part the opposite is being taught in the body of Christ today. Jesus tells us in Matthew 17 that “Elijah is coming and will restore all things.” This Elijah spirit is upon us now to make the way straight through revelatory teaching of Scripture and to bring the fear of the Lord back to wake up the sleeping Church while there’s still time. The Early Church taught that without Elijah preparing and sealing the Church not one would be saved. At the same time, under the leadership of the Catholic Church, a second sealing is taking place, with all major Christian denominations coming into covenant with Islam, Buddhism, and Hinduism, saying there are many ways to God. The great apostasy is here, but nothing will stop this final move of God. The world will see a full restoration of His glory on Earth as it is in heaven. Through revelation, or an apocalypse, let us step behind the veil to have full access to the glory of God and His redemptive plan for us as His children. For the earth will be filled with the knowledge of the glory of the LORD, as the waters cover the sea (Hab. 2:14).

Book excerpt: A Chicago crime family approaches the Justice Department with an unusual proposition: they want to turn state's evidence against the Chicago Mob, but they do not want any special deal in the process. Wondering what their ulterior motive might be, the Justice Department, nevertheless, makes the deal. The Grimaldi family is hidden in a secret government installation, their deaths are faked, and great care is taken in acquiring their testimonies. During the family's sequestration, the government prosecutors make a startling discovery: the Grimaldis are not the crime family that they assumed they were. Instead, the Grimaldis are a newly formed Christian family. Some federal agents actually come to Christ as a result of their exposure to the Grimaldis. The reader learns of the Grimaldis' conversion by way of the Don's conversation with the chief prosecutor. Later, in the first trial Enrico Grimaldi (the Don) repeats his faith story in detail. Then, in a series of vicious assaults on the jury, Mafia bad guys try to stop the trial altogether. In the process the Chicago Mob gets dismantled, one of the Grimaldi boys is murdered, and the sons and the father return to Area 51 grieving their loss. Christ then provides the Grimaldis with a new and exciting life. C.T. King is a semi-retired security specialist and a graduate of Loyola University. Coming to Christ late in life at the age of fifty-seven, C.T. experienced the restorative power of Christ first hand. It was that experience which transformed his life and which led him to begin a special ministry. For the past three years, C.T. King has focused his writing efforts in showcasing Christ's power to redeem, restore, and rebuild lost lives. This novel is the result of his ministry.

Book Standing Next to History

Download or read book Standing Next to History written by Joseph Petro and published by Macmillan. This book was released on 2007-04-01 with total page 334 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Standing Next to History presents the extraordinary account of Ronald Reagan's Secret Service bodyguard with stories that will make even a diehard "West Wing" fan go speechless. Joseph Petro served for 23 years as a special agent in the United States Secret Service; eleven of them with presidents and vice presidents. For four of those years he stood by the side of Ronald Reagan. Following his career as a Navy Lieutenant, during which he patrolled the rivers and canals along the Vietnamese-Cambodian border, he worked his way up through the Secret Service to become one of the key men in charge of protecting the President. That journey through the Secret Service provides an individual look inside the most discreet law enforcement agency in the world, and a uniquely intimate account of the Reagan presidency. Engagingly, Joseph Petro tells "first hand" stories of: riding horses with the Reagans; eluding the press and sneaking the President and Mrs. Reagan out of the White House; rehearsing assassination attempts and working, then re-working every detail of the president's trips around the world; negotiating the president's protection with the KGB; diverting a 26 car presidential motorcade in downtown Tokyo; protecting Vice-President Dan Quayle at Rajiv Gandhi's funeral where he was surrounded by Yassir Arafat's heavily armed bodyguards; taking charge of the single largest protective effort in the history of the Secret Service-Pope John Paul II's 1987 visit to the United States; and being only one of three witnesses at the private meeting between President Reagan and Mikhail Gorbachev that ushered in the end of the Cold War. Joseph Petro provides an original and fascinating perspective of the Secret Service, the inner workings of the White House and a little seen view of world leaders, as a man who stood next to history.

Book Unsung but Unforgotten

Download or read book Unsung but Unforgotten written by Stanley A. Vambe and published by ShieldCrest. This book was released on 2016-08-15 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Another insight into the intriguing township tales of yesteryear. Sylvia, (aka Mama Abi), the self-styled custodian of the ghetto morals, rules her roost with absolute sovereignty. Her children live in total submission and know not to contravene her code of conduct. Her Iron Lady demeanour however, inadvertently creates a chasm between her and her husband Njoro, who then resorts to the so called extra-curricular liaisons, in order to compensate for the deprivation of his conjugal rights. Sylvia, while lambasting her husband for his infidelity, plays the hypocrite when she succumbs to the carnal demands of her womanhood. She engages in an illicit affair and harbours a secret which only time reveals, after a rather strange sequence of events. Was it fate or mischief she wondered...? Football, with its plethora of talented players like George Shaya, Shaw Handriade, Majuta Mpofu, David Muchineripi and Shaky Tauro, becomes the equivalent of religion, with men, young and old, bowing unreservedly at its altar. Kamnolo, Sylvia s son, whom she loved and hated in equal measures, becomes disillusioned with the multi-layered conflicts within his family, and inevitably ends up experiencing his fair share of township misdemeanours. As much as it is an account of a dysfunctional family who seemed to thrive on high expressed emotion and conflict, this story is also a testament to the carthatic power of love and forgiveness.
