Book Dynamically Installed Anchors for Floating Offshore Structures

Download or read book Dynamically Installed Anchors for Floating Offshore Structures written by Mark Damian Richardson and published by . This book was released on 2008 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The gradual depletion of shallow water hydrocarbon deposits has forced the offshore oil and gas industry to develop reserves in deeper waters. Dynamically installed anchors have been proposed as a cost-effective anchoring solution for floating offshore structures in deep water environments. The rocket or torpedo shaped anchor is released from a designated drop height above the seafloor and allowed to penetrate the seabed via the kinetic energy gained during free-fall and the anchor s self weight. Dynamic anchors can be deployed in any water depth and the relatively simple fabrication and installation procedures provide a significant cost saving over conventional deepwater anchoring systems. Despite use in a number of offshore applications, information regarding the geotechnical performance of dynamically installed anchors is scarce. Consequently, this research has focused on establishing an extensive test database through the modelling of the dynamic anchor installation process in the geotechnical centrifuge. The tests were aimed at assessing the embedment depth and subsequent dynamic anchor holding capacity under various loading conditions. Analytical design tools, verified against the experimental database, were developed for the prediction of the embedment depth and holding capacity.

Book Ground Anchorages and Anchored Structures

Download or read book Ground Anchorages and Anchored Structures written by Institution of Civil Engineers (Great Britain) and published by Thomas Telford. This book was released on 1997-04-10 with total page 662 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume presents the proceedings of the first major international conference for over twenty years on the state-of-the-art of ground anchorage technology. Practical issues relating to construction and installation of anchorages are considered in a series of examples of engineering projects from around the world.

Book Mooring System Engineering for Offshore Structures

Download or read book Mooring System Engineering for Offshore Structures written by Kai-Tung Ma and published by Gulf Professional Publishing. This book was released on 2019-06-04 with total page 350 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The mooring system is a vital component of various floating facilities in the oil, gas, and renewables industries. However, there is a lack of comprehensive technical books dedicated to the subject. Mooring System Engineering for Offshore Structures is the first book delivering in-depth knowledge on all aspects of mooring systems, from design and analysis to installation, operation, maintenance and integrity management. The book gives beginners a solid look at the fundamentals involved during mooring designs with coverage on current standards and codes, mooring analysis and theories behind the analysis techniques. Advanced engineers can stay up-to-date through operation, integrity management, and practical examples provided. This book is recommended for students majoring in naval architecture, marine or ocean engineering, and allied disciplines in civil or mechanical engineering. Engineers and researchers in the offshore industry will benefit from the knowledge presented to understand the various types of mooring systems, their design, analysis, and operations. Understand the various types of mooring systems and the theories behind mooring analysis Gain practical experience and lessons learned from worldwide case studies Combine engineering fundamentals with practical applications to solve today’s offshore challenges

Book Ground Anchors and Anchored Structures

Download or read book Ground Anchors and Anchored Structures written by Petros P. Xanthakos and published by John Wiley & Sons. This book was released on 1991-09-03 with total page 708 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Treating anchorages as a direct application of the laws of statics and the theories governing the transfer of load, this book focuses on designs that are safe and reasonably priced. It is divided into two parts. Following a general introduction in the first chapter, Part One goes on to explore anchor systems, components, installation and construction details. Presents special anchor systems such as extractable, compression-type, multibell, and regroutable anchors. Analyzes the transfer of load and its relation to failure modes and anchor load capacity; deals with design considerations; covers mechanisms and types of corrosion; and details anchor stressing, testing programs, and evaluation standards. Part Two considers uses and applications and design aspects of anchored structures; presents design examples of practical value and reasonable simplicity; and incorporates examples and case histories.

Book Construction of Marine and Offshore Structures

Download or read book Construction of Marine and Offshore Structures written by Cliff Gerwick and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2002-01-01 with total page 682 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The leading authority in the field offers a unique and comprehensive treatment of the construction aspects of offshore structures, rather than the more commonly addressed design considerations. Extensively updated, this second edition provides a new chapter on extending offshore technologies to inland waterways and emphasizes recent advances-including floating structures, deep-water structures, ice-resistant structures, and bridge foundations. Construction of Marine and Offshore Structures details all the particulars of building in a marine environment, including construction equipment, marine operations, installing piles, pipelines, and cables, steel and concrete offshore platforms, and underwater repairs. Construction of Marine and Offshore Structures provides an essential reference to engineers in the oil and service industries and to marine construction planners, designers, and contractors. New in the second edition: How the physical environment and geotechnical conditions affect construction Increased attention to protecting the natural environment and compliance with regulatory provisions Recent developments in positioning, instrumentation, and underwater inspection, plus a new section on concrete and steel floating structures and installing permanent moorings Expanded treatment of deep water bridge piers as well as locks and dams on major rivers.
