Book Digital Processing and Reconstruction of Complex Signals

Download or read book Digital Processing and Reconstruction of Complex Signals written by Predrag B. Petrovic and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2010-03-21 with total page 125 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: In real electronic systems, voltage and current signals are not necessarily of a periodical quantity, due to the presence of nonharmonic components or/and possible stochastic variation. This book presents in three parts methods for analyzing and processing and reconstructing complex signals. The first part of this book is dedicated to the problem of measurements of the basic electric quantities in electric utilities, both from the aspect of accuracy of this type of measurements and the possibilities of simple and practical realization. The second part presents a reconstruction of trigonometric polynomials, a specific class of band-limited signals, from a number of integrated values of input signals. The third part deals with the problem of estimating the value of the active power of the ac signal in the presence of subharmonics and interharmonics. The analysis makes use of the most general model of the voltage and current signal, i.e. the most complex spectral content that can be expected to appear in practice.

Book Duration and Bandwidth Limiting

Download or read book Duration and Bandwidth Limiting written by Jeffrey A. Hogan and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2011-12-14 with total page 273 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Increasingly important in the field of communications, the study of time and band limiting is crucial for the modeling and analysis of multiband signals. This concise but comprehensive monograph is the first to be devoted specifically to this subdiscipline, providing a thorough investigation of its theory and applications. Through cutting-edge numerical methods, it develops the tools for applications not only to communications engineering, but also to optical engineering, geosciences, planetary sciences, and biomedicine. With broad coverage and a careful balance between rigor and readability, Duration and Bandwidth Limiting is a particularly original and valuable resource both for mathematicians interested in the field and for professional engineers with an interest in theory. While its main target audience is practicing scientists, the book may also serve as useful supplemental reading material for mathematically-based graduate courses in communications and signal processing.

Book Non uniform band Digital Filter Banks

Download or read book Non uniform band Digital Filter Banks written by Genzao Zhang and published by . This book was released on 1992 with total page 0 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: New design techniques of digital filter banks are presented in this thesis. The research has been focused on systematic design methods for computationally efficient filter banks with arbitrary center frequencies, which could be easily implemented and are useful in acoustic, speech signal processing, and communication systems. Frequency interpolation filter banks (FIFB) are first derived based on an adaptive filtering structure. FIFB banks show good frequency responses, interesting sensitivities and negligible parameter quantization effects and roundoff noise when they are implemented using modern DSP processors with fixed-point arithmetic. For maximally flat FIFB filter banks, the adjusted pole selection strategy by an optimization procedure is applied. Then, the resonator-based arbitrarily spaced center frequency filter banks (RFB) are proposed. They show better behaviour than general FIFB banks from the point of view of frequency responses and the implementation. In order to suppress the non-negligible sidelobes and further improve the passband performance of the non-uniform band filter banks, frequency domain windowing techniques are studied and linear programming is used to produce optimal windows for different banks. Thus the design methods of non-uniform band filter banks with windowing processing are presented and significant improvements are obtained on the filter bank performance. Finally, the FIFB filter bank techniques are successfully extended to the field of allpass and perfect reconstruction analysis/synthesis systems. This widens the application area of the FIFB filter banks. In an allpass system, a synthesis FIFB filter bank is derived based on a general analysis FIFB bank and the allpass requirement. In the perfect reconstruction system, multirate techniques are applied and the efficient general FIR synthesis filter bank and IIR FIFB filter bank are designed to construct the system.
