Download or read book Finding Himself written by Floyd Merrell and published by Strategic Book Publishing. This book was released on 2013-07 with total page 253 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Matthew was raised by a profoundly religious Mexican mother and Anglo father. When in his twenties, he believes he has been called by God to embark on a mission to spread the gospel among the indigenous Tarahumaras in northern Chihuahua, Mexico. He leaves behind his family and sweetheart, Dotty, to walk "like Jesus walked." He also hitchhikes through the remote southern New Mexico desert and the rugged Sierra Madre into the Copper Canyon area. Matthew befriends Jesus and stays with his family, working with him in the field by day and engaging in long conversations at night. They discuss folk beliefs, the Tarahumara religion, and philosophy. Matthew's faith begins to waver and he finds himself in a sea of ambiguity. Following a dramatic change of mind, heart, and soul, he decides to return home to orient his strange emerging self. On the way, he has a run-in with drug traffickers and kills one of them; he is mugged twice and loses his faith in the goodness of mankind; his financial resources diminish, compelling him to collaborate in a robbery. In short, his life becomes what before his journey would have been virtually unthinkable. Physically drained, when he is back home and sees Dotty, he can do no more than weakly whisper her name, leaving the novel open to multiple interpretations.

Download or read book Just a Little Talk with God written by Rev. Roger P. Bolton and published by Author House. This book was released on 2006-06-30 with total page 112 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is an inquiry with God regarding some tough questions we humans have been reluctant to ask. It comes out of a background in which the author has had his job threatened and his integrity as a Christian doubted because of questions he has asked regarding what both religion and society have told him is true. The author believes that we still live in the dark ages of relationships because we have been afraid to ask those questions that, had we asked and found answers to them, could have delivered us from the kind of suspicion, distrust and hatred that permeates life around the world. The author calls into question the very purpose of some religions because they have often placed shackles on the best resource God has given us, which is none other than our magnificent brains. Some religious leaders claim to know everything humans will ever need to know, and, therefore, require their followers to accept without question what they tell them to believe. This claim is nothing other than an attempt to play God, for it is only God who knows all there is to know. By limiting ourselves to knowledge given in the past, we have no chance to discover truth that continues to evolve in many different areas of life. The intention of this book is to help us realize that it is okay to ask God some tough questions, and that it is through asking about things we do not yet understand that life will become more meaningful, not only for us, but for those with whom we live.

Download or read book Quantum God Fractal Jesus How Isaac Newton Redefined God Without Really Meaning to And Why We Really Don t Get God written by Andrew Fletcher and published by Lulu.com. This book was released on 2009-06-22 with total page 190 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: There may be just two great questions in life - why am I here, and why is there suffering? In seeking answers to those questions, believers and skeptics alike have reduced God and the character and our understanding of God into neat, pointless little boxes into which neither God nor the universe fit. In seeking resolution, can it be found in science, nature, and the universe itself? Does the universe hold clues to the nature of God, and can it point in the direction of solving both the question of life's meaning and purpose, and the existence of evil and suffering? This is a beautifully and powerfully written book of science and faith, seamlessly woven together not so much to provide answers as to break believers and skeptics out of their metaphysical, theological, and scientific ruts.
Download or read book What If written by Charlee Stardust and published by Balboa Press. This book was released on 2017-11-07 with total page 158 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: What If explores and attempts to answer many of the questions each of us have thought of throughout our lives but may have been afraid to ask. Why am I here? Where did I come from? What created the universe? Which came first, the chicken or the egg? Through many years of analysis and reflection, the author attempts the most logical conclusion of who we are, where we came from, our purpose for being, and more importantly, our relationship with our Creator. What If explores how our ego is primarily responsible for much of the negative dramas that play out in our lives; how the moment our egos began labeling things, we got into trouble; and how labeling turned into judgments and opinions. What If points to the fact that our purpose here on Earth is actually to enjoy the journey our life takes us on, and suggests ways to avoid the struggles and unhappiness that can easily interrupt us. What If explores our world of form through our physical existence, and it helps us understand our more important beginnings in a place we might call heaven, in a nonphysical plane of existence. So get ready for a journey of discussions about subject matter that may be a little complex to entertain in our minds. What If helps smooth out kinks in those questions and hopes to give valid arguments for other more logical explanations. “We are not meant to suffer, ever! We are meant to find joy in everything we experience. We were created from love and are meant to experience only love until we get back home!” The author. With peace and love!
