The wives of cabinet members denied paying social calls to the Eatons and refused them invitations to parties and other gatherings. General Jackson tried to compel the cabinet wives to stop humiliating the Eatons but was unsuccessful. This work attempts to explain in an unbiased manner the details of what General Jackson did and why and how he did it.
