Book Parametric Optimization

Download or read book Parametric Optimization written by Jürgen Guddat and published by . This book was released on 1990-12-21 with total page 208 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Explores optimization problems in which some or all of the individual data involved depends on one parameter. Beginning with a preliminary survey of solution algorithms in one-parametric optimization, the text moves on to examine the pathfollowing curves of local minimizers, pathfollowing along a connected component in the Karush-Kuhn-Tucker set and in the critical set, pathfollowing in the set of local minimizers and in the set of critical points. In addition, practical applications are included.

Book Regularization Algorithms for Ill Posed Problems

Download or read book Regularization Algorithms for Ill Posed Problems written by Anatoly B. Bakushinsky and published by Walter de Gruyter GmbH & Co KG. This book was released on 2018-02-05 with total page 447 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This specialized and authoritative book contains an overview of modern approaches to constructing approximations to solutions of ill-posed operator equations, both linear and nonlinear. These approximation schemes form a basis for implementable numerical algorithms for the stable solution of operator equations arising in contemporary mathematical modeling, and in particular when solving inverse problems of mathematical physics. The book presents in detail stable solution methods for ill-posed problems using the methodology of iterative regularization of classical iterative schemes and the techniques of finite dimensional and finite difference approximations of the problems under study. Special attention is paid to ill-posed Cauchy problems for linear operator differential equations and to ill-posed variational inequalities and optimization problems. The readers are expected to have basic knowledge in functional analysis and differential equations. The book will be of interest to applied mathematicians and specialists in mathematical modeling and inverse problems, and also to advanced students in these fields. Book Parametric Optimization and Related Topics III

Download or read book Parametric Optimization and Related Topics III written by Jürgen Guddat and published by Peter Lang Gmbh, Internationaler Verlag Der Wissenschaften. This book was released on 1993 with total page 576 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume contains the proceedings of the third conference on Parametric Optimization and Related Topics, held in Gustrow from 30 August until 5 September, 1991. Parametric optimization, as a part of mathematical programming, investigates the behaviour of solutions to optimization problems under data pertubations. This behaviour, like continuity and differentiability, plays a fundamental role for a series of further questions that are of interest from a practical as well as a theoretical point of view. Many relations to other disciplines of operations research, like stochastic programming, modelbuilding, numerical methods, multiobjective optimization and optimal control, originate from this behaviour. The presented articles (all refereed) are topical and original papers reflecting recent results to current directions of research in theory and applications."

Book Advancing Parametric Optimization

Download or read book Advancing Parametric Optimization written by Nathan Adelgren and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-01-21 with total page 118 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The theory presented in this work merges many concepts from mathematical optimization and real algebraic geometry. When unknown or uncertain data in an optimization problem is replaced with parameters, one obtains a multi-parametric optimization problem whose optimal solution comes in the form of a function of the parameters. The theory and methodology presented in this work allows one to solve both Linear Programs and convex Quadratic Programs containing parameters in any location within the problem data as well as multi-objective optimization problems with any number of convex quadratic or linear objectives and linear constraints. Applications of these classes of problems are extremely widespread, ranging from business and economics to chemical and environmental engineering. Prior to this work, no solution procedure existed for these general classes of problems except for the recently proposed algorithms

Download or read book Optimization written by Simon Serovajsky and published by CRC Press. This book was released on 2024-07-30 with total page 557 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Optimization: 100 Examples is a book devoted to the analysis of scenarios for which the use of well-known optimization methods encounter certain difficulties. Analysing such examples allows a deeper understanding of the features of these optimization methods, including the limits of their applicability. In this way, the book seeks to stimulate further development and understanding of the theory of optimal control. The study of the presented examples makes it possible to more effectively diagnose problems that arise in the practical solution of optimal control problems, and to find ways to overcome the difficulties that have arisen. Features Vast collection of examples Simple. accessible presentation Suitable as a research reference for anyone with an interest in optimization and optimal control theory, including mathematicians and engineers Examples differ in properties, i.e. each effect for each class of problems is illustrated by a unique example. Simon Serovajsky is a professor of mathematics at Al-Farabi Kazakh National University in Kazakhstan. He is the author of many books published in the area of optimization and optimal control theory, mathematical physics, mathematical modelling, philosophy and history of mathematics as well as a long list of high-quality publications in learned journals.

Book Numerical Methods for the Solution of Ill Posed Problems

Download or read book Numerical Methods for the Solution of Ill Posed Problems written by A.N. Tikhonov and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2013-03-09 with total page 257 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many problems in science, technology and engineering are posed in the form of operator equations of the first kind, with the operator and RHS approximately known. But such problems often turn out to be ill-posed, having no solution, or a non-unique solution, and/or an unstable solution. Non-existence and non-uniqueness can usually be overcome by settling for `generalised' solutions, leading to the need to develop regularising algorithms. The theory of ill-posed problems has advanced greatly since A. N. Tikhonov laid its foundations, the Russian original of this book (1990) rapidly becoming a classical monograph on the topic. The present edition has been completely updated to consider linear ill-posed problems with or without a priori constraints (non-negativity, monotonicity, convexity, etc.). Besides the theoretical material, the book also contains a FORTRAN program library. Audience: Postgraduate students of physics, mathematics, chemistry, economics, engineering. Engineers and scientists interested in data processing and the theory of ill-posed problems.
