Book Diccionario de ideas afines

Download or read book Diccionario de ideas afines written by Fernando Corripio and published by . This book was released on 2007 with total page 843 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle.

The volume is subdivided into four sections: I. Tradition: an historical background; II. Tradition and innovation: which future?; III. Law and tradition; and IV. Tradition: a theological point of view. Book The Ideal of Parliament in Europe since 1800

Download or read book The Ideal of Parliament in Europe since 1800 written by Remieg Aerts and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2019-11-30 with total page 279 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This edited collection explores the perceptions and memories of parliamentarianism across Europe, examining the complex ideal of parliament since 1800. Parliament has become the key institution in modern democracy, and the chapters present the evolution of the ideal of parliamentary representation and government, and discuss the reception and value of parliament as an institution. It is considered both as a guiding concept, a Leitidee, as well as an ideal, an Idealtypus. The volume is split into three sections. The establishment of parliament in the nineteenth century and the transfer of parliamentary ideals, models and practices are described in the first section, based on the British and French models. The second part explores how the high expectations of parliamentary democracy in newly-established states after the First World War gradually started to subside into dissatisfaction. Finally, the last section attests to its resilience after the Second World War, demonstrating the strength of the ideal of parliament and its power to incorporate criticism. Examining the history of parliament through concepts and ideals, this book traces a transnational, European exchange of models, routines and discourse.

Book Translatio Studiorum

Download or read book Translatio Studiorum written by and published by BRILL. This book was released on 2013-03-27 with total page 287 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The present volume collects seventeen case studies that characterize the various kinds of translationes within European culture over the last two millennia. Intellectual identities establish themselves by means of a continuous translation and rethinking of previous meanings—a sequence of translations and transformations in the transmission of knowledge from one intellectual context to another. This book provides a view on a wide range of texts from ancient Greece to Rome, from the Medieval world to the Renaissance, indicating how the process of translatio studiorum evolves as a continuous transposition of texts, of the ways in which they are rewritten, their translations, interpretations and metamorphosis, all of which are crucial to a full understanding of intellectual history.
