Book Topics In Theoretical Physics Proceedings Of The Second Pacific Winter For Theoretical Physics

Download or read book Topics In Theoretical Physics Proceedings Of The Second Pacific Winter For Theoretical Physics written by Yongmin Cho and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1997-04-01 with total page 278 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Recently, exciting new notions have been emerging in theoretical physics. The quantum nature of gravitation revealed in the physics of black holes, exotic excitations obeying fractional statistics, and integrable structure such as Yangian symmetry in low-dimensional models are some of the subjects presented in this volume. The spectrum of the talks at the School, reflected in the proceedings, is a wide one ranging from the phenomenology of particle physics to that of condensed matter physics, to topics of a mathematical nature. This is an indication that there is a robust interplay of ideas from diverse disciplines of theoretical physics in the Asia-Pacific region.

Book Multiple Parton Interactions at the LHC

Download or read book Multiple Parton Interactions at the LHC written by Paolo Bartalini and published by World Scientific Publishing. This book was released on 2018-11-08 with total page 472 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Many high-energy collider experiments (including the current Large Hadron Collider at CERN) involve the collision of hadrons. Hadrons are composite particles consisting of partons (quarks and gluons), and this means that in any hadron–hadron collision there will typically be multiple collisions of the constituents — i.e. multiple parton interactions (MPI). Understanding the nature of the MPI is important in terms of searching for new physics in the products of the scatters, and also in its own right to gain a greater understanding of hadron structure. This book aims at providing a pedagogical introduction and a comprehensive review of different research lines linked by an involvement of MPI phenomena. It is written by pioneers as well as young leading scientists, and reviews both experimental findings and theoretical developments, discussing also the remaining open issues.

Book Particle Physics Phenomenology Proceedings Of The Third International Workshop

Download or read book Particle Physics Phenomenology Proceedings Of The Third International Workshop written by D Chang and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 1997-06-16 with total page 294 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: At this workshop, there are two pedagogical lectures on heavy quark effective theory and heavy quarkonium, given by B Grinstein and E Braaten. This is followed by eighteen talks addressing recent experimental and theoretical developments on a variety of topics. They include applications of heavy quark effective theory, heavy ion physics, CP violation in kaon and bottom mesons, implications of Higgs particle discovery, rare decays of kaons and pions, and new physics beyond the standard model.

Book The Standard Theory of Particle Physics

Download or read book The Standard Theory of Particle Physics written by Luciano Maiani and published by World Scientific Publishing Company. This book was released on 2016-08-25 with total page 483 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The book gives a quite complete and up-to-date picture of the Standard Theory with an historical perspective, with a collection of articles written by some of the protagonists of present particle physics. The theoretical developments are described together with the most up-to-date experimental tests, including the discovery of the Higgs Boson and the measurement of its mass as well as the most precise measurements of the top mass, giving the reader a complete description of our present understanding of particle physics.
