Download or read book P SHELL Lambda HYPERNUCLEI AND THE Lambda N EFFECTIVE INTERACTION written by and published by . This book was released on 2000 with total page 14 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Empirical data on the spectra of light hypernuclei, especially the data from recent [gamma]-ray experiments, is used to constrain the parameters which govern the P{sub N}s{sub {Lambda}} and p{sub N}p{sub {Lambda}}j two-body matrix elements that enter into shell-model calculations.

Book Remarks on the S shell Lambda hypernuclei

Download or read book Remarks on the S shell Lambda hypernuclei written by and published by . This book was released on 1981 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The complexities of the s-shell .lambda.-hypernuclei (A less than or equal to 5) are explored. Difficulties associated with attempts to describe the hyperon-nucleon (YN) interaction in all such .lambda.-hypernuclei by simple, effective .lambda.p and .lambda.n potentials are examined. The explicit A dependence of the effective YN interaction due to .lambda. N-.sigma. N coupling and isospin differences among the nuclear core states is investigated. The necessity of using exact four-body theory to calculate small charge-symmetry-breaking effects (in the A = 4 system) using .lambda. N potentials fitted to free .lambda. N scattering data is emphasized. Possible use of s-shell hypernuclear binding energies to help distinguish among candidate YN potential parameterizations is discussed.

Book Lambda And Sigma Hypernuclei

Download or read book Lambda And Sigma Hypernuclei written by and published by . This book was released on 1985 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The present status of structure calculations for p-shell .lambda. hypernuclei, including the phenomenological determination of .lambda. N effective interaction matrix elements, is briefly reviewed. For .sigma. hypernuclei the Nijmegen potential model D is used for guidance in constructing .sigma. N effective interactions. The structure of /sub .sigma./12Be and /sub .sigma./12C, including isospin mixing in the later case, is discussed, and a comparison is made with experimental data. 19 refs., 5 figs., 4 tabs.

Book Spectroscopic Investigation of P Shell Lambda Hypernuclei by the e E K Reaction

Download or read book Spectroscopic Investigation of P Shell Lambda Hypernuclei by the e E K Reaction written by and published by . This book was released on 2014 with total page 210 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Hypernuclear spectroscopy is a powerful tool to investigate Lambda-N interaction. Compared with other Lambda hypernuclei productions, electroproduction via the (e, e'K+) reaction has the advantage of exciting states deeply inside of the hypernucleus and achieving sub-MeV energy resolution. The E05-115 experiment, which was successfully performed in 2009, is the third generation hypernuclear experiment in JLab Hall C.A new splitter magnet and electron spectrometer were installed, and beam energy of 2.344 GeV was selected in this experiment. These new features gave better field uniformity, optics quality and made the tilt method more effective in improving yield-to-background ratio. The magnetic optics of the spectrometers were carefully studied with GEANT simulation, and corrections were applied to compensate for the fringe field cross talk between the compact spectrometer magnets. The non-linear least chi-squared method was used to further calibrate the spectrometer with the events from Lambda, Sigma0 and B12Lambda and uniform magnetic optics as well as precise kinematics were achieved. Several p-shell Lambda hypernuclear spectra, including B12[Lambda], Be10[Lambda], He7[Lambda], were obtained with high energy resolution and good accuracy. For B12[Lambda], eight peaks were recognized with the resolution of ~540keV (FWHM), and the ground state binding energy was obtained as 11.529 ± 0.012(stat.) ± 0.110(syst.) MeV. Be10[Lambda], twelve peaks were recognized with the resolution of ~520keV (FWHM), and the binding energy of the ground state was determined as 8.710 ± 0.059(stat.) ± 0.114(syst.) MeV. For He7[Lambda], three peaks were recognized with the resolution of ~730keV, and the ground state binding energy was obtained as 5.510 ± 0.050(stat.) ± 0.120(syst.) MeV. Compared with the published data of B12[Lambda] from the JLab Hall A experiment, four extra peaks were fitted and interpreted thanks to the highest ever energy resolution and sufficient statistics. The determined binding energy of Be10[Lambda] provides new information on charge symmetry breaking effect in the Lambda-N interaction. Compared with the results of He7Lambda from the E01-011 experiment, the ground state position is consistent with 4 times more statistics, and two extra peaks corresponding to excited states were recognized.

Book Structure of Light Lambda hypernuclei and the K Pi Reaction

Download or read book Structure of Light Lambda hypernuclei and the K Pi Reaction written by and published by . This book was released on 1982 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A brief description of the procedure and highlights of the calculations performed on a broad range of p-shell nuclei including .lambda.9Be, .lambda.12C, .lambda.13C, .lambda.14N and .lambda.16O for which data exist and .lambda.1°B, .lambda.14C, .lambda.15N for which data do not exist are given. The mechanism for the (K−, .pi.−) reaction which generates the rich excitation spectra seen experimentally is briefly considered. The use of a relativistic DWBA formalism includes naturally the distortion in K−, .pi.− wave functions and permits quantitatively reliable estiamtes of reaction cross-sections to be made. An essentially complete treatment of second-half p-shell nuclei with fixed .lambda. N and NN potentials is possible because of the small size variations of these nuclei. In principle at least a three body .lambda. NN force should be present, inducing an apparent nucleon-number dependence in an effective two body interaction. The emphasis is on extraction, from the hypernuclear spectrum and excitation probabilities, of details of the .lambda. N interaction not otherwise obtainable experimentally. (WHK).

Book Lambda N Effective Interaction

Download or read book Lambda N Effective Interaction written by and published by . This book was released on 1984 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A combination of theoretical estimates, based on a .lambda. N potential model, and phenomenological analysis of hypernuclear data is used to determine a set of four P/sub N/s/sub .lambda./ two-body matrix elements which characterize the spin dependence of the .lambda. N interaction in the p shell. The central spin-spin and the .lambda. spin-orbit matrix elements are most strongly constrained by existing data. The spin dependence is weak in the sense that s/sub .lambda./ doublet splittings are predicted to be of order 100 keV except for the special case of /sub .lambda./7Li where the central spin-spin interaction dominates and the ground-state doublet separation is likely to be about 600 keV. The results of recent (K−, .pi.−.gamma.) experiments at the Brookhaven AGS are interpreted in terms of the .lambda. N effective interaction.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Variational Monte Carlo calculations have been made for the s-shell hypernuclei and also of /sub .lambda./9Be with a 2.cap alpha. + .lambda. model. The well depth is calculated variationally with the Fermi hypernetted chain method. A satisfactory description of all the relevant experimental .lambda. separation energies and also of the .lambda.p scattering can be obtained with reasonable TPE .lambda. N and .lambda. NN forces and strongly repulsive dispersive .lambda. NN forces which are preferred to be spin dependent. We discuss variational calculations for /sub .lambda lambda./6He and /sub .lambda lambda./1°Be with .cap alpha. + 2.lambda. and 2.cap alpha. + 2.lambda. models, and the results obtained for the .lambda lambda. interaction and for /sub .lambda lambda./6He from analysis of /sub .lambda lambda./1°Be. Coulomb effects and charge symmetry breaking in the A=4 hypernuclei are discussed. 28 refs.

Book excerpt: This volume of the International School of Physics Enrico Fermi is dedicated to Valerio Filippini. He devoted his life to physics. Valerio Filippini was born in Somma Lombardo (Milano) on December 8, 1958. He obtained the Master Degree in Physics at the University of Pavia in 1982, cum laude. After a working parenthesis at an industrial firm, he became Research Physicist of INFN, Sezione di Pavia, in 1988 and was promoted Senior Research Physicist in 1993. He participated to the experiments PS 179 (TOFRADUPP) and PS 201 (Obelix) at LEAR (CERN), FINUDA at LNF and ATHENA at AD (CERN). His outstanding scientific contributions were provided in the OBELIX and FINUDA experiments. Nobody could compete with Filippini in exploiting at best the daily-evoluting performances of the computing tools for the needs of the experiments, both for on-line and off-line purposes. The FINUDA experiment collected physics data immediately after the roll-in thanks to the reliability and simplicity of the on-line system designed and assembled by the physicist. However, he was not only a 'Clavier Physicist' but a complete Scientist: he also leaded the Pavia Group in designing and providing advanced detectors, and in developing mathematical methods for the analysis of the data. His scientific contributions are documented by about 90 publications on refereed international journals, about 100 contributions to International Conferences and Workshops, and 3 invited talks.

Book Study of the 7 Lambda He Hypernucleus in Formalism of the Faddeev Equations

Download or read book Study of the 7 Lambda He Hypernucleus in Formalism of the Faddeev Equations written by Branislav Vlahovic and published by . This book was released on 2006 with total page pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: P-shell A = 7 hypernuclei are considered in the cluster {sub {Lambda}}{sup 5}He + N + N model. The folding procedure are applied to construct the {sub {Lambda}}{sup 5}He-N interaction. We use the OBE simulating NSC97f potential for {Lambda}N interaction and various phenomenological potentials for {alpha}{Lambda} interaction. Configuration space Faddeev calculations are performed for hyperon binding energy of the {sub {Lambda}}{sup 7}He(1/2{sup +}) and {sub {lambda}}{sup 7}Li(1/2{sup +} and 3/2{sup +}, T=0) nuclei. Predicted value for B{sub {Lambda}}({sub {Lambda}}{sup 7}He) is 5.35 MeV. This value is obtained when the {sup {Lambda}}{sup 6}He(2{sup -}) excitation energy is equal 0.26 MeV by the adjustment of pair {sub {Lambda}}{sup 5}He-N effective potential to reproduce the experimental value of the {sub {Lambda}}{sup 7}Li(3/2{sup +}) excitation energy. Our results are compared with those of E. Hiyama et al.

Book Proceedings of the Sendai International Symposium

Download or read book Proceedings of the Sendai International Symposium written by Kazushige Maeda and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2010 with total page 469 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This volume is based on the proceedings of the International Symposium on "Strangeness in Nuclear and Hadronic Systems (SENDAI08)," which is the third in a series of symposia on nuclear physics involving strangeness following SENDAI98 and SENDAI03. With the expectation of the completion of new accelerator facilities such as J-PARC and other new experimental facilities, recent theoretical and experimental results and future prospects of strangeness nuclear physics are discussed in great depth by leading experts of the field. The topics involved are electromagnetic production of strangeness, structure and decay of hypernuclei, hyperon-nucleon and hyperon-hyperon interactions, among others. It will also serve as a good textbook for studying the current status of strangeness in nuclear and hadronic physics.
