Book Dictionary of Electronics and Electrical Engineering

Download or read book Dictionary of Electronics and Electrical Engineering written by Seiichi Ishibashi and published by Springer Science & Business Media. This book was released on 2012-12-06 with total page 1802 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: The first edition of this dictionary was published in 1964, and the revised second edition appeared in 1968. Since then electrical engineering has made great progress and has enlarged rapidly along with its associated fields. Accordingly, the terms required for electrical engineering have greatly increased. Therefore the publishers, Ohmsha, Ltd. decided to publish this extensively revised and enlarged third edition. The original editor, Dr. Yuichi Ishibashi, who is my father, devoted great energy to compiling revisions after the appearance of the second edition, but he passed away in 1969 leaving his work in the form of a mass of manuscript cards. Since my speciality is the same as my father's, Mr. Sato, the managing director of Ohmsha, Ltd. approached me with his request to compile this third edition, to which I agreed to bring my father's efforts to fruition. Following the trend of the first and second editions, in addition to the customary technical terms of electrical engineering, electronics, and communications, this third edition attempts to include relevant terms from the basic sciences of mathematics, physics, and chemistry, as well as from automation, data processing, instrumentation, nucleonics, mechanical engineer ing, civil engineering, architecture and economics. Also I have tried to include as many verbs, adjectives, and adverbs that appear frequently in general engineering literature as possible. The result is that this third edition contains over 42,000 vocabulary entries.

  • Publisher : Taylor & Francis
  • Release : 2022-05-05
  • ISBN : 1351425218
  • Pages : 324 pages

Download or read book Petroleum Bioventing written by J. van Eyk and published by Taylor & Francis. This book was released on 2022-05-05 with total page 324 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Petroleum bioventing is a new technique for the biological in situ removal of petroleum hydrocarbons from soil. This book investigates the composition and the behaviour of petroleum in soil, soil properties and soil processes, their interaction with bacterial processes, possibilities for optimizing the removal of petroleum hydrocarbons from soil by bacteria and it explains the phenomenon of recalcitrance. This interdisciplinary approach forms the basis for both modelling and design principles of bioventing. Key features: Background knowledge on the physical/chemical/biogeochemical properties of soil and soil processes with respect to petroleum bioventing; Background knowledge on petroleum biodegradation and noval approaches to stimulate petroleum biodegradation to stimulate petroleum biodegradation in soil and biofilters; Modelling efforts showing the effect of diffusion and soil porosity on bioventing design and the effect of ventilation quotients on the aeration & biological clean up of soils, particularly heterogeneous soils; New insights into biological removal of priority pollutants from petroleum hydrocarbons, the problem of residual concentrations of petroleum hydrocarbons in soil & the requirements by the Law on Soil Protection.

Book Handbook Of Porphyrin Science With Applications To Chemistry Physics Materials Science Engineering Biology And Medicine Volumes 36 40

Download or read book Handbook Of Porphyrin Science With Applications To Chemistry Physics Materials Science Engineering Biology And Medicine Volumes 36 40 written by Karl M Kadish and published by World Scientific. This book was released on 2016-07-01 with total page 1975 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Porphyrins, phthalocyanines and their numerous analogs and derivatives are materials of tremendous importance in chemistry, materials science, physics, biology and medicine. They are the red color in blood (heme) and the green in leaves (chlorophyll); they are also excellent ligands that can coordinate with almost every metal in the Periodic Table. Grounded in natural systems, porphyrins are incredibly versatile and can be modified in many ways; each new modification yields derivatives, demonstrating new chemistry, physics and biology, with a vast array of medicinal and technical applications. As porphyrins are currently employed as platforms for study of theoretical principles and applications in a wide variety of fields, the Handbook of Porphyrin Science represents a timely ongoing series dealing in detail with the synthesis, chemistry, physicochemical and medical properties and applications of polypyrrole macrocycles. Professors Karl Kadish, Kevin Smith and Roger Guilard are internationally recognized experts in the research field of porphyrins, each having his own separate area of expertise in the field. Between them, they have published over 1500 peer-reviewed papers and edited more than three dozen books on diverse topics of porphyrins and phthalocyanines. In assembling the new volumes of this unique handbook, they have selected and attracted the very best scientists in each sub-discipline as contributing authors. This handbook will prove to be a modern authoritative treatise on the subject as it is a collection of up-to-date works by world-renowned experts in the field. Complete with hundreds of figures, tables and structural formulas, and thousands of literature citations, all researchers and graduate students in this field will find the Handbook of Porphyrin Science an essential, major reference source for many years to come.
