Book excerpt: Overcoming Spiritual Slumber is a booklet written to encourage and challenge God's people to be passionate about God and His Kingdom, inculcating spiritual vibrancy that will foster fruitfulness and spiritual exploits. The devil tempts Christians to compromise in subtle ways but God has called His people to "Fight the good fight of faith, lay hold on eternal life, to which you were also called..." (1 Timothy 6:12, MEV). This book gives insight into 1) How to harness God's grace 2) How to avoid the devil's snare 3) How to overcome distractions and offences 4) How to experience Resurrection Power 5) How to appropriate our inheritance as children of God 6) How to remain fruitful through prayer Our warfare is real and .."we do not wrestle against flesh and blood, but against principalities, against powers, against the rulers of the darkness of this age, against spiritual hosts of wickedness in the heavenly places." (Ephesians 6:12, MEV). Satan tries to induce spiritual slumber in the lives of Christians but by the grace of God we can remain alert. The Bible says, "Be sober, be vigilant; because your adversary the devil walks about like a roaring lion, seeking whom he may devour." (1 Peter 5:8, MEV). We cannot afford to slumber for God has provided all we need to be victorious (2 Peter 1:3). This author, Rev. Panton Okon hopes that this short book will galvanize God's children into action in such a way that they would exude spiritual vibrancy and joy as we wait for the coming of our Lord, Savior and King, Jesus Christ.

Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Win the Battle for Sleep: God's Plan for Rest, Rejuvenation, and Revelation In our fast-paced world, we see sleep as "wasted time," or else we lie awake as anxiety, fear, or distractions run through our minds. That was never God's intent for the night. Without realizing it, we've handed this sacred time over to the enemy. With warmth, compassion, and keen biblical insight, counselor and speaker Faith Blatchford reveals that it's during this precious time that God imparts everything necessary for us to be equipped for the day. Without peaceful sleep at night, we are robbed mentally, physically, emotionally, and spiritually of the resources we need. God created the night and the dark--and he called it good. He dwells in it. The dark does not belong to the devil, so don't let the enemy steal it from you. Here are the tools you need to take back your night, to encounter the God of rest, and to sleep peacefully the whole night through. Includes a chapter on how to help your children overcome nightmares and fear of the dark.

Book excerpt: “Marc Webb’s new book speaks of a very precious commodity to us all—SLEEP! It is a gift of God. It is a blessing that reminds us how great God is and how human we are. But this book is also a gift in teaching an overview of the biblical story from the biblical text on sleep. I promise, it won’t put you to sleep!” Bryant Wright, President of Send Relief “Dr. Marc Webb had me hooked with the title of his book. As a big fan of sleep, including the occasional nap, I couldn’t wait to dive into what he discovered in Scripture about this gracious gift from God. I recommend Dr. Webb’s book, as he traces the God-given gift of sleep throughout the Old and New Testament.” Todd Gray, Executive Director-Treasurer for The Kentucky Baptist Convention “Among books on the work/rest rhythm, Marc Webb’s work studies the actual act of sleep in the Bible. His insights are both thoughtful and vulnerable concerning the causes and consequences of sleep – using sometimes unexpected biblical passages. This is an original and helpful resource in understanding such an important part of our lives.” Taylor Field, Send Relief Missionary and author of Upside Down Leadership

Book Slumber of Jezebel

    Book Details:
  • Author : Mike Connell
  • Publisher : CreateSpace
  • Release : 2014-04
  • ISBN : 9781497524729
  • Pages : 102 pages

Download or read book Slumber of Jezebel written by Mike Connell and published by CreateSpace. This book was released on 2014-04 with total page 102 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Jezebel set out to destroy all messengers of the Lord. She destroyed prophets wherever she could find them; and raised up instead her own prophetic messengers. They brought a message which they called Prophecy, but it was actually speaking words that were demonically-empowered, and seduced the nation. The nation came under it, literally fell asleep spiritually. In the Old and New Testament, the same spirit power, the same kind of operation, to lead people astray, so they don't walk in the destiny that God had for them. 1. Slumber of Jezebel The Bible is very clear: there is an invisible spirit world, in which spiritual powers operate (Eph 6:12). The nation of Israel got into an alliance with another nation, the Sidonians, by marriage. He married Jezebel, and immediately opened his life to the influence of the spirit power behind her. Her father was a priest of Baal, and so she introduced the worship of Baal and Ashtaroth. 2. Spiritual Slumber The church in the West, on the most, is in a state of spiritual slumber - unaware of the powers at work in the nation, to destroy the legacy that's been built over years. God is speaking to us, to 'wake up' out of that spiritual slumber. Jezebel was a woman in the Old Testament, and also a woman in the New Testament, but I want to get your eyes off 'woman'. I want you to get your eyes on 'spiritual power' - entering and oppressing a nation. 3. Recognising and Withstanding Jezebel's attack This kind of spiritual attack seeks to shut down the prophetic flow; and remove any Godly authority out of their position. You become fearful, isolate, or lose perspective. God just got Elijah to have a good long sleep and rest, gave him a bit of food, took him into a place of relationship and connection - started to put anointing back into him, re-fired him and commissioned him. Elijah was a loner, and God got him out of being a loner, made him connect, and actually get into a team flow.
