Book Clean of Heart

Download or read book Clean of Heart written by Rosemarie Scott and published by R.A.G.E. Media. This book was released on 2006 with total page 132 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Clean of Heart is written for practicing Catholics who accept all the teachings of the Church, yet are still ensnared by pornography and self-abuse. There is hope! Through the Sacraments, God provides all the grace one needs to become pure. No matter how long one has indulged in pornography or how deep one has sunk into the mire of vice, Our Lord can still break the addiction! What makes Clean of Heart different? First, it is written from a Catholic point-of-view. While Evangelical Christians have many books and programs for pornography addicts, there are few titles on the market for Catholics. Clean of Heart consists of forty-three daily meditations which draw from the power of the Sacraments and the wisdom of the Saints (elements lacking in many Evangelical books). Second, Clean of Heart is a surprisingly chaste book. It contains no obscenities or explicit testimonies which may be an occasion of sin for some. The focus is on attaining a clean heart rather than recalling past sins.

Book excerpt: This book depicts the lives of 11 courageous men who had formerly anguished over their sinful, addictive behaviors, which wounded many hearts and ravaged many lives. Nevertheless, they were not able to stop in their own strength. Their help came from the Gospel of Amazing Grace. Every courageous person who is willing to wholeheartedly surrender to Jesus Christ as their Lord and Savior will experience God's gift of a new abundant life. What this means is that those who become Christians become new persons. They are not the same anymore, for the old life is gone. A new life has begun! All this newness of life is from God, Who brought us back to Himself through what (Jesus) Christ did...For God made (Jesus) Christ, Who never sinned, to be the offering for our sin, so that we could be made right with God through (Jesus) Christ. (II Corinthians 5:17, 18a, 21) How we thank God, Who gives us victory over sin and death through Jesus Christ our Lord! ... You were His enemies, separated from Him by your evil thoughts and actions, yet now He has brought you back as His friends. He has done this through His death on the cross in His own human body. As a result, He has brought you into the very presence of God and you are holy and blameless as you stand before Him without a single fault. (1 Corinthians 15:57; Colossians 1:21-23) These courageous men experienced victory over addiction at America's Keswick Colony of Mercy. They continue to enjoy "The Victorious Christian Life", "The Exchanged Life" and an addiction-free lifestyle. SO COULD YOU! My name is Michael JJPDTDAM/R, D/K Byrne. I grew up in East Meadow, Long Island, New York. I was blessed with a loving mother and father, who always encouraged and exhorted me to do my best in loving God, my seven wonderful brothers (four) and sisters (three), and everyone who our Lord Jesus created. Our superhero mother modeled a Jesus Christ-like lifestyle. She consoled us during hard times and celebrated with us during the many good times. She had a blackboard and wrote something inspirational daily. She also walked us to our local library (about a mile from our home) once a week for new books. Our loving dad taught us to love the ocean beaches, swimming, and especially fishing. Both mom and dad modeled a great work-ethic. They both emphasized the importance of diligent study in school and gave us small rewards as incentives. They also showed us how to have fun around the house, on our block with 114 kids. I am most thankful for God's amazing grace which gave our parents faith. I am looking forward to seeing them both in heaven. I was inspired to write these two books on overcoming addiction through Jesus Christ because God's amazing grace enabled my father to overcome his alcohol addiction, God answered our families prayers spearheaded my mom. God also blessed mom with a thankful prince charming and us with the return of Superdad "I can do all things through Jesus Who strengthens me" (Philippians 4:13).

Book A MISSIONARY LOOKS AT 12 STEPS TO OVERCOME ADDICTION AND SIN

Download or read book A MISSIONARY LOOKS AT 12 STEPS TO OVERCOME ADDICTION AND SIN written by Richard Lehman and published by Richard Lehman. This book was released on 2023-02-28 with total page 128 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: A Christian based 12-step process helps us to overcome addiction by attaching to the faithful love of the Savior, enabling healthy relationships with other people. And so a missionary, Richard Lehman, looks at the 12-step process, and prayerfully applies the wisdom of the scriptures to it. And in doing so he has also found this process helpful in providing insights into how to work with different individuals to bring them to Christ. Richard spends much time training hundreds of other ministers. And in addition to helping those addicted, this 12 step process has become a key resource for training gospel workers who help those that are addicted. Experience has proved that everyone "wrestles" with deep hurts of some kind. There is a deep empty hole in the heart of the soul - and it must be filled somehow. How we fill that hole, or comfort ourselves within that empty space, will determine what sin we become addicted to. It is sin (someone else's, or ours) that ultimately first creates a void in the heart of the individual. Unfaithfulness is the sin of betrayal. Someone trusted another with their heart, and then that same person broke their heart. It happens to children in their relationship with their parents, or relatives, or trusted others. It happens often within many marriage relationships. And it happens within everyone's life at some point, by how their own sin betrays the faithful love of the Savior. And so people go through life hiding the pain of betrayal. Instead of seeking for healing through a loving Savior, they resort to other things. And in doing so they become addicted to some substance, some sin, or both. And they often don't know where to start to find a way out. This book seeks to help them not only start down the right path, but to also find complete healing through the love of our Lord Jesus Christ. So throughout this 12 step process, you will see that the book is addressed to two audiences at the same time. Those who need help over addictions, and those that are trying to help them. And there is an important reason for this. Because people who need help to overcome addictions, need to completely trust those that are working with them. And so if you are using this process to help them, these people also want transparency and understanding as to what they are being asked to do, and why. There can be no hidden agendas in helping people! Jesus came so that relationships can be healed. He also sent the comforter of the Holy Spirit, so that every pain that sinful mankind could bring against us, could still be comforted and healed in this life. "If ye love me, keep my commandments. And I will pray the Father, and he shall give you another Comforter, that he may abide with you for ever; Even the Spirit of truth; whom the world cannot receive, because it seeth him not, neither knoweth him: but ye know him; for he dwelleth with you, and shall be in you. I will not leave you comfortless: I will come to you." (John 14:15-18)

Download or read book Broken Chains written by Randy Nurmi and published by WestBow Press. This book was released on 2011-01-14 with total page 185 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Broken Chains: Principle to Overcoming Addiction is written for the individual who is caught in a lifestyle of bondage to sin and fear. It is also designed for anyone who has a loved one struggling with sins of this type and have a desire to educate, assist, and support him according to Gods Word. This book does not focus on motivational methods, but instead focuses on the foundational truths of Gods Word and its total sufficiency for solving all the problems facing man. This books purpose is to build hope for both the struggling addict and those who desire to help him through practical principles of faith, hope, and love through Jesus Christ. Individuals who are lost in the valley of addiction frequently ask God to remove the painful trial and its consequences for selfish reasons. Nevertheless, this time of trial, tribulation, and revelation of their true nature and character can be grasped as an opportunity to explore and expand their newfound faith and freedom in Christ. The hope for these lessons would be to build an understanding and confidence for tackling everyday issues and provide encouragement to persevere as trials are overcome and victories are achieved on an every day basis. Success in overcoming the battle of addiction will depend on the individual acknowledging Christs ability alone to set him free from bondage to sin and fear, thereby breaking the chains of addictions. After 20 years of suffering, being full of pride and arrogance, lost in a dark and lonely world, and having the experience of trying time and time again to change myself through people, places, and things, I finally had a solitary but failed attempt at suicide. Christ Jesus was finally allowed to pour down His Mercy upon me and I was given the gifts of His Grace, Faith, Repentance, and Redemption and I was changed into a new man that was created according to God in true righteousness and holiness. It was after this event that I received my calling from the Lord and He gifted me with a tremendous healing of the mind and the ability to remember His Holy Scriptures. I have sought to make Christ Jesus my Lord known to all men as I have come to know Him ever since. I have had the privilege of having the Lord educate and equip me for the last 25 years as a Pastor. The Lord has used numerous individuals, various Biblical courses and trainings, drug and alcohol education, and time of my own suffering in Christ to expand His purpose and plan for my life. Psalm 12:6-7: The words of the Lord are pure words, like silver tried in a furnace of earth, purified seven times. You shall keep them, O Lord, You shall preserve them from this generation forever.

Download or read book One Step written by Dennis Wright and published by AuthorHouse. This book was released on 2009 with total page 138 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This book is a biblical approach to the recovery from obsessions. The obsessions can be as minor as fishing too often or as major as full blown addictions to drugs. The point is that Jesus Christ gave us guidelines on how to moderate and on how to be healed when necessary from these obsessions. The outline from Matthew in the New Testament is where Jesus teaches us the format for recovery. It is why he starts with being "poor in spirit" and ends in being persecuted for your beliefs. This simple outline from Matthew 5:1-12 is where basically all recovery programs have their origin, and I have included in the back of the book a chapter titled "The beatitudes and their correlation to the twelve steps." It is the premise of this work to bring clarity to the truth that has always been in God's Word. It is a work that reads well and was a pleasant task to write. I hope you will enjoy as well as benefit from its pages. Thank you for your consideration and for taking the time to read this brief edit. Dennis Wright
