Book Orthodontic Diagnosis and Treatment of Malocclusion

Download or read book Orthodontic Diagnosis and Treatment of Malocclusion written by Philip Chiders and published by American Medical Publishers. This book was released on 2021-11-16 with total page 218 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: Malocclusion is a condition that results in a misalignment between the teeth and the two dental arches when they approach each other when the jaw closes. Malocclusion can be divided into three types - class 1 is netrocclussion, class 2 is distocclussion and class 3 is mesiocclusion. Class 1 netrocclussion is a condition where the molar relationship of the occlusion is normal but the other teeth have problems like spacing, crowding and under eruption. Class 2 distocclussion is a condition where the mesiobuccal cusp of the upper first molar is anterior with the mesiobuccal groove of the lower first molar. Class 3 mesiocclusion is a condition where the upper molars are placed posteriorly to it and not in the mesiobuccal groove. Some common causes of malocclusion are extra teeth, impacted teeth, lost teeth and abnormally shaped teeth. It can be treated with the help of orthodontics which includes tooth extraction, dental braces and clear aligners. This book provides comprehensive insights into the field of malocclusion. It presents researches and studies performed by experts across the globe. This book is a resource guide for experts as well as students.

Book Orthodontic Diagnosis

Download or read book Orthodontic Diagnosis written by Thomas Rakosi and published by Thieme. This book was released on 1993 with total page 288 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: An illustrated guide for the complex process of orthodontic diagnostics and indication. The total process of treatment planning including the scientific bases is pictorially described. Beside the conventional methods of examination and model analysis, emphasis is placed on the cranio-facial growth processes, the aetiology of malocclusions and on the importance of functional analysis. The following three aspects are described in detail in this book: Growth of the Facial Skeleton - types of treatment which promote or guide growth. In order to control these natural processes artificially, a precise understanding of them is required. Aetiology of the Malocclusion - the various types of causative therapy and the elimination of the causes. Functional Analysis - many malocclusions are a result of dysfunctions. As a variety of methods are available for treating dysfunctions, functional analysis is taken very seriously.

Book 3D Diagnosis and Treatment Planning in Orthodontics

Download or read book 3D Diagnosis and Treatment Planning in Orthodontics written by Jean-Marc Retrouvey and published by Springer Nature. This book was released on 2021-03-13 with total page 325 pages. Available in PDF, EPUB and Kindle. Book excerpt: This richly illustrated book is a wide-ranging guide to modern diagnostics and treatment planning in orthodontics, which are mandatory prior to the initiation of any type of comprehensive treatment. The importance of three-dimensional (3D) imaging techniques has been increasingly recognized owing to the shortcomings of conventional two-dimensional imaging in some patients, such as those requiring complex adult treatment and those with temporomandibular joint dysfunctions or sleep disturbances. In the first part of this book, readers will find clear description and illustration of the diagnostic role of the latest 3D imaging techniques, including cone beam computed tomography, intra-oral scanning, and magnetic resonance imaging. The second part explains in detail the application of 3D techniques in treatment planning for orthodontic and orthognathic surgery. Guidance is also provided on the use of image fusion software for the purposes of accurate diagnosis and precise design of the most appropriate biomechanical approach in patients with malocclusions.

Book excerpt: This evidence-based book, featuring contributions from world-renowned experts, discusses in detail the functional anatomy of the temporomandibular joint as well as the aetiology, diagnosis, treatment and medicolegal implications of patients with temporomandibular disorders (TMD).Despite advances in our understanding of the aetiology of TMD and in developing current treatment rationales, a number of issues remain controversial. These include the extent to which the temporomandibular joint should be a central focus of orthodontic diagnosis and treatment, as well as the role that occlusion and malocclusion play in precipitating TMD symptoms. Indeed, few subjects in dentistry and the specialty of orthodontics are open to as many interpretations or misinterpretations as TMD. This textbook provides clinical orthodontists with essential information and guidance that will assist them in understanding and effectively managing this complex multilayered problem. Throughout, clear clinical guidelines are presented on the basis of current scientific and clinical evidence. TMD and Orthodontics will be a highly valuable chairside resource for orthodontists everywhere.
